That it can. The forward and back ratchets on Hun-gurr are weak but the side outwards are good, so it won't do the splits like BMB's Volcanicus.

I think it's like 36 or so. My ruler only goes up to 30, so it's guess-timate.

Not sure polish would work. Lazy to open up my BMB OSKO POTP Dinobots, but assuming all CW ratchets are the same, I have a CBB Blast Off disassembled already, so this is how the ratchet should look like inside:



Possibly stretching the springs could tighten the ratchets, or even adding padding to either end of the spring. Anything to make the tension of the spring tighter.

Btw, what brand of polish do you use in Msia? SG not easy to find.

I'm not using polish, but Kiki or acrylic paint, and I plan to try water-based polyurethane from the hardware store as well in the future.

Sucks that Rippersnapper has the same problem. Was hoping they fixed it. Looks like the peg or the hole needs to be thickened, then.

I noticed someone selling Slash on ebay without the extra fists - which is kinda annoying as it's part of the reason to buy her to get the extra fist to support the ankles.

I kinda wish they'd done the same with a repaint of Cindersaur to give you extra fists for Abominus' ankles too.

Stretching the springs works. I did it on Rippersnapper and the ratchet can now hold up the whole arm without flopping back down. I would only say that if anyone tries this that they should be as gentle as possible to not snap the spring.

 

I'm sure, but the key ingredient is apparently acrylic, so stuff like acrylic paint and poly will have a higher concentration.

Poly is S$6 for 250ml tin in SG. Msia probably even cheaper.

 

And over in the MMC OX Assaultus thread, people are also using stryene strips to raise up the ends of the springs for better tension as well.

Got my Big Hun-grr through a couple of days ago. It all seemed pretty good, until I tried to get him into combined mode. When trying to flip Abominus' head out, the peg on his neck sheared off on both sides, baking the head off completely. I have since used some contact cement to glue the entire head assembly in place, but Abominus' head will never turn again  

 

He's failing over already, mom's spaghetti

Anyway, I have the bmb volcanicus and I'm really interested to see the quality difference, as I was really impressed with the former.

 

So what was the problem? Was the head stuck, that caused it to use force to pop the head out? Cos I don't see how the head can be broken off otherwise?

 

Is this set worth getting?

Got Hun-Gurrr (Raging Dragon) out of quarantine today. First impression - BMB/Aoyi still is incapable to make proper knee joints  . In robot mode these are his "Achilles' knees". Second weak spot are feet, not as loose but still incapable of supporting more "dynamic" poses (sideways joint is particularly loose on both feet). Hips are okay, though soft "fake ratchets" on outward movement are not enough (and forward/backward movement has too much space between "teeth" on ratchets). Arms seem ok but I doubt these are strong enough to support combined mode. Head base doesn't really tab into tail, it just sort of rests on the tab hole, so you may accidentally do "Siege Megatron" on him  .
Sword accessory is ok - doesn't split out of the box, both parts of the blade firmly stick to each other. He has properly painted Terrorcon Enigma. Only die cast I found is chest piece which connects tail to the torso. Oddly, I didn't get any instructions (like anyone would need ones for this figure), only sticker sheet.
It seems he was very eager to get out of the box  .
