Come on MMC it's almost the end of September, give us another figure announcements you follow your monthly pattern. Lol, I needs it. Because I know in October you'll have many wonderful things for us to see at the digital TFcon 3p panel.

 

Currently hoping they release a super megatron. The selects is okay, but an mmc one would be tight

 

The pain of waiting to see what TFCon Reformatted releases are coming vs. buy TorTor right out is real. Mnemo and Motif are already pre-ordered and paid for, and waiting on Christmas to see what happens with Prime/Getaway.

 

Tyrantron is pretty heavily inspired by Super Megatron.

 

Yeah, definitely gives vibes of if MTMTE Megs and Super Megatron fused into one. And ohhhhhh do I love it.

EDIT: On that note, I was super bummed the MMC Ravage upgrade kit didn't come with a Lost Light-esque fusion cannon.

 

But its not though, is it? No, I think they be better off making a new mold. Be nice if he also has that mask thing the selects comes with

 

IIRC, he was originally a Sark design of just Super Megatron (hence the alt mode) that was re-designed into a MTMTE/Miner Megs. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Yeah, I wanted a new cannon too. The only part of the upgrade kit I use for Megatron is the arm gap filler on the side that doesn't have the fusion cannon. Kultur got the sniper rifle.

 

The MMC design is closer to the original manga design than it is to the new toy coming out.

Let me put it his way. People are choosing the ocular max star convoy over the selects, cause they want a more quality version, more accurate version of star convoy. So why would people just accept the mtmte megatron that kind of looks like him. If they want to retool him into supermegatron, that makes sense. It doesnt make sense to pair them against one another when megs is an autobot in that body, and that one doesn't fit. But I suppose to each their own. Maybe its best to save the funds for future more dedicated projects

 

Fair enough. I'd somehow missed that there was a OM Star Convoy coming out, so I could absolutely see them doing an Ox Styled Super Megatron. I thought you were referring to Reformatted, hence the Tyrantron comparison. Given the scale of that Star Convoy, I think if they do decide to do it, it'd absolutely be a new figure.

 

I'm hoping so, but im also hoping they retain the supermask. The only problem there is, I can't really want that, as it wouldnt be faithful to his appearances. As a result they likely wouldn't retain it. I dont know. Id have to see one to judge. Anyway

 

Sounds like you just want the official version to be...better. I'd of bought it if it weren't for the forearm gaps.

 

Kind of? Like it looked really good and all, but its not like I just want that upscaled. The only thing I'd really like kept is the mask due to how neat it is. Otherwise, id really like a mp super megatron, and thats really it.. the quality and transformation of ocular max is so much better and more unique. Also, star cpnvoy from takara seemed good at first, until ocular max showed off theirs. Imagine the comparison between the ocular max and selecrs megatron. Also, id prefer one that can scale with other mmc products.

 

Oh yeah, it'd be night and day between the two in terms of quality. I love that head sculpt on the Takara Super Megatron though, so I can see why you'd want to keep it. Has/Tak almost always has good head sculpts, that's what's so frustrating about their figures sometimes...you'll get a figure with a wonderful sculpt, but budgetary constraints lead to hollow parts, gaps, limited articulation, etc. MMC doesn't have those limitations, so they'd definitely produce a better figure. I just don't know if a MMC Super Megatron would happen any time soon because their Star Convoy appears to be on the back burner at the moment and they've already made a Super Megatron-inspired figure. Seems like a longshot, but it'd be cool if they made it.

 

Yeah, I'm there with you! Wish LazyAza would give us a hint on if we should reserve A LOT of money or if we should reserve A LOT A LOT of money for TFCon exclusives.

 

2019 was surprising too because not only did they give us G2 Sphinx, but then they cranked out Bulkhead and Ratbat for the Reformatted line. I fully went into TFCon2019 expecting more Asterisk/Shadow repaints and had to rethink my whole convention budget like a week before  

Though I’m seriously wondering who else they could churn out as “unique” IDW characters from existing molds.

 

Thats true. And thats great for me cause I'm pretty sure I'm out budgeted this year. I swear this year, horrible world pandemics, but this year and the next seem the greatest in terms of toys
