A lot of the stores just opened back up for more than curbside. That's probably why. No big. My fault for not knowing before. I was thinking that Voltron might look good with the KO Combiner Wars merge groups like Devy and Defensor. Aren't they about that size?
He’d probably scale decently with them. He’d be a couple inches shorter than the official CW Devy and maybe a couple inches taller than other standard sized CW combiners. I’m not sure how tall the oversized KO combiners are, though.
TP-01 Golion looks pretty good (in a 90s Gundam way) too but seems to be its own size class. Which has better quality between the CW Devy downscaled to the other Hasbro CW combiners vs. the KO's upscaled to the regular Hasbro CW Devy? (if that seemed confusing you got it right)
I don’t own any of the CW KO stuff. But, the reviews I’ve seen on some of the upscaled stuff seem to indicate that the quality is sometimes even better than the official stuff. Not sure about the downsized Devy.
Quality of downsized Devy is not bad, but definitely not great. Some parts are prone to breakage. But at least it isn't a floppy mess like many KO's.
Have any of you posed the hell out of the Playmates big combining Voltrons? I was wondering about how they fare in the long run, like do the joints wear down quick and get loose?
I'd love to see Bandai pull off something a little more like the animation...somehow...using black magic.
SO question, I'm looking for an original Popy Golion sword. My set was missing and I just remembered I need one. Is there a comparison gallery somewhere of the differences between this, Lionbot, and Matchbox Voltron? I know the Trendmasters one was goldish. Is this it? Doing some research, some of them seem to have the curved crossguard thing over the hands. Others don't.
I am no expert, but, based on an image search, the only version that does not appear to have some type of curved guard is the vintage Matchbox version. I can’t tell you offhand which version the sword you have pictured above is from, though. Collectiondx says the Trendmasters version came with either gold chrome or silver chrome weapons (the gold being more rare). The handguard on the Trendmasters looks different than the one you have pictured, though. If I were to guess, I’d say the sword you have is either the Popy or Godaikin. See here: Voltron Edit: I’m also seeing images that suggest the Lionbot didn’t come with a guarded sword. They’ve been making those things forever, though, so I guess it might be possible it has been released with both versions of the sword over the decades.
I’ll be darned. I knew he lacked the extra individual weapons and missile firing stuff...but I thought he at least came with the sword and shield.
The OG Matchbox didn't come with one, but was sold seperately with the star. It seems like it had that guard thing.
