Welp I just ordered one of those cheap Windchargers, it says toy or too. Honestly IDC much for the character either so it’ll do.

 

Anyone have a toon version of Boost they wanna swap for a toy version?

Picked my Windcharger up from TFS on sale. Fun little figure, but I am going to 3D print a nrw front end and make him KITT.

 

Whoever designed this, was a real asshole.

 

TY for the heads up, I rolled the dice and glad I did, best value figure of the year for me.

Only issue I spotted on mine is if you look at the windows at certain angles it kind of has the plastic protector look, minor blemish imo, and he stays in bot mode so pffft.

Mine had the same issue, but is no big deal to me, only noticeable in car mode and at certain angles in the light. XTB should have updated the color of the windows to blue on these though, imo to match Takara + line. Oh well the windows are hidden in bot mode. Saved myself like $40 on a character that ranks low on the totem poll with me...big win. lol

lol I followed emgo video to transform, only issue to speak of for me is tabbing in the shins at the back, feet are a pain in the ass so I agree and he is a bit on the fiddley side. At least he looks fine on the shelf and fills in that empty spot though.  

 

I did too. I think his frustration projected on me. I'll never transform him, again.

Eh, it the same guy who does most XTransbots designs. You gotta remember this is one their early projects, so personally I forgive the fiddle factor.

 

When I sold mine it was with the understanding that under no circumstances would I even attempt to transform that hateful little son of a b*tch before shipping.
Wrapped him in bubble wrap with the box next to it and off he went. If it hadn't been for rules,that damn figure would've been hanging in front of a target in a shooting lane. Needless to say I'm not a fan of this figure.
For $30 I can't say I fault anybody for picking it up tho.

He’s actually a really great guy. Not trying to be critical of your frustration. I have been there with other transformations. But the designer really is a class act and I have always appreciated his willingness to engage with our community.

 

I take 2 Tylenol and a box of .40 cal

 

I bought one of these off BBTS; turned out to be the toy version. which I don't mind, I try to steer my MP collection to a toy/toon based hybrid, and don't really like the face sculpt much on the toon version. I'm content in this probably being the only Windcharger MP I own, because even if another company does it the era of these minibots with toon robot modes and real-world alt-modes is over. And while I'm alright with the Season 2/85 bots with the more cartoony/vague alt-modes having chibi vehicles with the MPs, I'd rather have the ones based on real-word cars be able to match their larger, Diaclone car based counterparts. In fact, initially I only wanted to collect the Diaclone derived bots(and the Microchange Decepticons) initially until MP Bumblebee 1.0 came out. That said..

While not in such harsh words, this transformation was clearly a case of what worked out in the design stage not working in plastic. there's a lot of neat and interesting ideas ultimately don't feel intuitive in toy form. There are things that do feel neat, but are so frustrating to execute. Its actually making me consider going with Dunerider over Arkose afterall even though I prefer Arkose' aesthetics. Its that frustrating

 

Arkose is a pretty easy transformation, the biggest issue is sliding the sidebars around the tire and onto the back of the leg. but, there is a ball socket so if you don't get it quite right it will pop off rather than break. as far as everything else the only "issue" I have with it is that the knees have no stop so you can fold them all the way to the front and it makes it feel like it will collapse on you, which mine hasn't done.

 

I also got a toy version. Barely any issues with the car paint like most others, it only really shows in certain lights, and bot mode is flawless. I have Hatch already so I was prepared for the fiddle. It’s funny he’s already getting more play outta me than Dunerunner which I got a couple weeks ago. The transformation, frustrating but there’s just something fun about these figures and they pose quite well. Anywho not a big deal glad to check off another minibot.

Now just waiting for the Ditka reissue. Hopefully I’ll feel the same about him too.

 

I was hoping we'd get a better Cliffjumper before that happened, but yeah. That's where we are.

 

I think he's a fine Windcharger. A lot of mould flash, on mine.
