This is probably a weird expectation, but I hope the quality of plastic is WFCT quality and not SS quality. I've had some bad luck with SS. (i.e. Optimus's neck breaking and deluxe class' ball joints being extremely loose.)

Just watched the whole vid...

The visor Gimmick has never looked better (even better than FT), Much better proportions, articulation, and accessories than the MP, with LESS KIBLE!

THIS FIGURE IS ON A WHOLE NOTHER LEVEL!!!

 

SS is the new MP line haha. If they start doing non movie characters for the SS line it's only defining aspect will be mini masterpiece. So far they are mini masterpiece movie or MMPM ^^

Yo @Apollux can you remind me what the SS86 deluxe packaging backgrounds were? I've got the box almost done but I forgot what the backgrounds were...

Fap... I mean, fantastic! If SS '86 Grimlock will end up as good as Hot Rod here, then I'm gonna get excellent figures of two of my favorite childhood character in the near future. I was THIS close to buying PoTP Rodimus and Grimock (Still got myself a nice Unicronus doe), but now it look like showing some restraint was worth it. Butterfly biceps, double-jointed range on the elbows, wrist swivels, that wonderful forward kick range, plenty ankle movement, and a pretty clean backpack! And that wonderful face sculpt! Even the car mode looks wonderful, though I hope you can actually press it together a little more under the canope part. Man, I didn't think a there'd be a line I like even better than Siege so soon! Even if there are a few trifles here and there that I think could be better, this figure feels Hasbro's paying tribute straight to my six-year-old self. Of course, the only one paying between the two of us will be me, but still!

Thank you, that's a great idea! Some of the color "off-model" coloring I don't mind (I actually think the yellow on Roddy's knees pops out form the surrounding orange rather nicely), but that yellow part on top of his car mode really could use some magenta (or fuchsia or whatever that wonderful pinkish purple color's called).

 

Those are the voyagers; I've already done both (both are attached if you need a memory refresh). I'm asking for the deluxes.

Studio Hot Rod and Scourge both look amazing, what a great end to the weekend.  

There are a few areas I'm not keen on with Hot Rod but these really are just nitpicks.
First up the yellow hinges, yeah I know why they have to be there but they are a bit jarring, maybe someone will make replacements in a more cohesive colour.
The legs sticking out of the back of the car mode isn't great but it is still a mainline toy and concessions have to be made to make it work. If the much sleeker backpack is the result of that then it's a good trade off.
The one thing I'm really not keen on though is the detailing on his lower legs, it seems weird that they went to so much trouble to make him animation accurate but then stopped at the legs and got the wfc designers to do it. :s

Again, just nitpicks, it really looks incredible and I can't wait to have him on my desk getting all touchy with the Matrix!  

On that note, I hope the Kingdom Rodimus will come with an opened or even an opening Matrix so we can have the before and after of that scene.  

Another lovely mock up, if it's like that I may have to take a craft knife to it and cut the windows out so he can stand behind them lol.

 

Hot rod is forever doomed to habe a fake hood in robot mode

 

Of course he is. Perfect transformation or screen accuracy. You can only pick one with Hot Rod's design. His robot chest is curvy in ways the car hood simply isn't.

 

If this is the result of giving a deluxe the budget of a voyager, then they need to slot in more voyager figures in the future.... because I love it.

Also, I finished up all of the mockups that we have information for. I have nothing left, so these are probably the last mockups I make for a few months until we get more information.

Yeah. But I do appreciate it when a faux part ends up in generally the same place as the vehicle part.

 

What sort of figures? Good ones?  

I only pick up random figures here and there myself, but I might be getting way too many next year if they all look as perfect as this Hot Rod.

 

Also, in the movie clip of him transforming where his shoulders rotate, you can clearly see his chest growing to become the hood of the car. You just can't do that on a figure for obvious reasons.
