Anyone miss the days of prime time specials? Back when we had more then just Christmas specials but snoopy, Garfield, smurfs, bugs bunny and even batman! To a kid at the time cartoons in prime time was a big deal. Unless you had parents who payed to get the hbo like Disney channel it was the only way to see cartoons at prime time. Nick was done at 7pm and so was tnt toons. That cbs bumper let you know a cartoon was coming on! Sorry airwolf. You will return next week!

Anyone have memories of watching these? Which one did you like the most?

Given the state of the world, I'll miss the holidays themselves this year.
Seriously though, had a lot of good times watching these on prime time as a kid, I think the lion's share through the Disney Channel as it was during the 80's.

I thought this said "Prime Time Of Your Life" as in the song by Daft Punk and I was traumatized thinking about the music video. On a more on-topic thing, I'm much too young to remember these, but it seems cool nonetheless..

These types of things were more common when I was very young or a few years before I was born. But from what I remember, the Disney's Halloween Treats special kept getting played for like a decade or more. That, or someone I knew must have had a VHS recording of it.

Well, here's a more obscure one, "The Devil and Daniel Mouse". I think the team behind this went on to produce the "Rock and Rule" movie.

I remember for a while CN here in Hungary used to show them on every saturday and sunday night, before 20PM when it transitioned to... TCM, I think? Some channel showing ancient Hollywood movies. It was how I saw Scooby Doo on Zombie Island for the first time too.
These days the direct to DVD market kinda replaced these, but only DC and HB seem to be still doing it. Has been ages since I seen Marvel do one of these.

That was probably it, then. I checked online, and it looks like there's never been a DVD release, so I assumed (wrongly, obviously) there wasn't an official VHS one.

And it's a shame about there not being a DVD release because I probably would have snapped that up after seeing this thread.

I remember alot of the Christmas specials cause I'm from the 80's growing up. Now some of them like KISS band movie and some of the tv shows turned to a movie i never seen or wasn't born when on tv. Either way i miss the good ole days of great 80's tv shows as well Who's the Boss,227,Cosby etc.

If I remember correctly, so was the 3-part pilot of Superman (the Animated Series), aired as a complete movie. It even had a live-action host in the commercial transition segments (I forgot which celebrity it was, only that it was a blonde-ish male). Main thing I remember from it was the host doing a sketch mocking the scene where Bibbo Bibbowski forgot to keep lookout for Lois Lane because he got distracted by "Soder".

A few episodes of "Batman the Animated Series" were also aired on Prime Time when the series was only a couple years old, though I think they only did it for a couple months.

I think I still have the prime time airing of Batman Beyond's pilot on VHS somewhere. I remember loving that pilot. Haven't really watched it much since. Was never really a big fan of Batman Beyond, except for a select few episodes.

I also remember seeing the Superman pilot in prime time. Didn't have a VCR yet, so I didn't record it when it was on. That series I did love. I recorded a lot of things as a kid, with my VCR I bought for like $80 in 1996. Which was mostly bought to record Robotech episodes. But, I soon began recording all the other things I loved.

Oh what great times those were. I still have most of these VHS tapes, too.
