Before Windows 10, you could say nothing changed and be pretty certain that was true. Now? Good luck. Practically every other update wipes out settings or disappears something.

I keep typing out a big ol' rant and deleting it but basically I've been having a reeeeal bad time mentally lately, I'm fucking sick of being sick and able-bodied people don't know how good they've got it. Like, what would I have done and be doing now if Crohn's disease hadn't fucked my shit up 11 years ago? It feels like my only shot at living something approaching a normal life now if to win the fucking lottery because at least then I'd have the money to offset any of the difficulties my illness might present in doing the shit I want to do in life. Eurgh.

Not sure how it is there but we finally got the rain (though it stopped now) that was forcasted. Helped with all the smoke in my area. Hopefully it helped contain some of the widfires.

Several. none of which I've seen before & none of which I can connect to because they're secured.

I brought the laptop in to work today & I was able to successfully connect to our Guest Wifi without much issue....

That's good to hear. I'm hoping we get some too. Not likely since this area is arid.

    RE: The air fryers.

I've found I can get a good approximation of deep frying if I spray down whatever I'm air-frying with cooking spray, or drizzle it with a bit of peanut oil before it goes into the air fryer. Not perfect, but better than having to clean up that damn deep fryer.

My suggestion would be to forget/drop all networks when you're home and see if you can at least see your own network and connect again. Sometimes settings just go wonky in windows for no reason at all. The joys of Microsoft administration.

Would going back to a restore point help? If that's even available on Windows 10...

Kind of an indirect(?) rant about spam/scam emails.

So I got an email from Amazon about doing a survey in exchange for a small denomination digital gift card. I was suspicious at first, but it passed all the normal checks: URLs point to Amazon proper, email uses my full name as registered on Amazon rather than just my email, no obvious grammar mistakes or spelling errors, etc. Went through with the survey and it just asked about product/brand stuff, no personal/account stuff.

Got paranoid after, and looked things up. Turns out similar emails have been part of scams in the past. Getting worried, I checked the email again and it had a link to an Amazon page specifically about survey emails. Being suspicious now I wasn't going to click on it, so I did a search instead. And the page in question does exist, and the information given about official survey emails lines up exactly with everything in the email and the survey.

So it's most likely not a scam (at least in my case), but I just hate that it's something I have to worry about.

I wouldn't say that's paranoid, but being cautious. If it asked for your amazon email and password that's huge red flags. Those are the kind of scams people actually fall for. I mean as long as you don't give out personal account detail (passowrd, address) and don't click anything that causes a download you are good I would say.

But, I'm the same way. Is this a scam? Will I get a million phone calls about a free gift card? One time some agency got my phone number, SEVERAL CALLS A DAY, FOR WEEKS about a free vacation in VIRGINIA. Who the fuck wants to vacation in Virginia? Anyway, all they needed was my social security number and my husband's! Seems legit!

And blocking numbers on Verizon used to be easy, I'd log into my account and block, nope, not anymore, it blocks for like a limited time only.

There's much nicer beaches to "win" a vacation to, to use as incentive.

I have an anti-solicitation message that usually helps filter out bot calls. But yesterday, I got a call from Princeton, TX. At least that's what showed up on the caller ID. No voicemail message left. Looked up the number in Google and it looked like a robo call/scam call according to the search results. Not gonna pick up if I don't know who it is.

The problem with these people was they kept leaving voicemails if I didn't pick up.
