Going through and messing with each figure and working through the transformations. Getting ready for Incursus (Onslaught) to arrive on Monday to complete Assaultus (Bruticus). Love how good he looks even as a stand alone figure.

Surprised this wasn’t posted yet. Very nice watch, especially while messing with the set at the same time!
Thanks @Sixo for the incredibly in depth video on the full team!

Love Sixo’s content, but I did find I a little maddening that he never popped the hatch on Onslaught’s cannon that had the three weakness spots. With all the the other in-depth looks he did, it was weird that didn’t pique his curiosity. Not expanding the back cannons I can understand more since those hinges can be so stiff they might not feel like they can move.

Whoa! You're the guy? Awesome! Hey brother, THANK YOU for all your transformation videos and reviews. You have the most detailed, descriptive, and helpful videos I have ever seen. I am 100% serious. Some people that try to make review videos are so obnoxious that they are practically unwatchable. You have a knack for this stuff. God Bless You for putting the time and effort into making these selfless videos for the rest of us. You are appreciated. :thumb

So I've finally got the chance to mess with 4 out of the 5 this set and here's a quick review.

Onslaught: Originally thought it was ugly, but it's alright in person, the flaws I noticed are the under arm flaps making his arms unable to rest flat against his sides and the front skirt for combined mode scratched the silver on the front while trying to put it back in his chest. His mirrors are plastic and are a high risk of breaking but are luckily removable. 8/10

    Swindle:
I like the design, everything plugs where it should, and its just a good figure, the biggest flaw is the way the arms pull out of the chest to transform him, its hard as hell and its a painted spot so prying it out is a bad idea, that's the biggest gripe I have and until it loosened up I hated it and its why the score is low, the nose being silver is also meh. 7/10

    Vortex:
Hands down the weakest one structurally. The transformation has some parts where you'll more that likely bend some stuff to get them in place, and there are many high risk parts on this guy. His chest cavity has thin plastic that catches on things and theres the propeller blades (removable), side mirrors (removable). Wheels and rear propellers are the biggest culprits and are un-removable and need to be in a specific place during transformations or they'll get caught on stuff. I bent the props on mine and no amount of hot water was enough, I had to use a lighter to bend it back. 5/10

    Blast Off:
Probably my favorite of the bunch so far. The paint placement is good, no risky parts, mo structural issues other than the tips of the wings on a little hinge but they're hardly in the way. The proportions are weird, his torso is too long but if you look at him with a wonky G1 lens he looks okay. His arms look the weirdest but over all a solid figure. I transformed him the most and he's why I was sold on this set. 8.5/10

I still didn't ship my stack with Brawl in it, but looks to be the best of the bunch.

Combined mode: This is not show accurate(Blue legs, wrong head), and not toy accurate either(wrong chest, wrong head) unless you have the expansion kit, which I do, then its VERY toy accurate. Painting onslaught grey would make this a ringer for the cartoon I suppose but I won't be doing that. The hips are solid, the arms are too except for the back and forth ratchet for Blast off, that one is shit but is being replaced so I'll leave it be, the knee joint is weaker than I'd like but doesn't matter since I won't be doing high kicks with this guy. He's more solid than the JinBao for sure. If you scale him with Titan class stuff he fits well, but if you try that with 3p Toyworld scale boys he's a runt. I still like him a lot though. I won't rate him since he's still 1 legged. hah

Oooh boy how it feels to finally have a Volatus. Loving this boy immensely. He might be my new fav of the group. Instantly I’m loving the size of him, seeing him robot first just emphasise his total length. I haven’t got the others out since the move, but I recall that same feeling of thinking “wow this is bigger than what I’m used to”. It’s interesting how that’s continued.

But the posing feels great. It’s an extremely inviting experience. Impetus felt like you had to be super precise, Fraudo didn’t have enough, and Incurus wasn’t fully finished. This boy can pose up a storm. 24769A6B-8EA6-4A71-8B7E-2E02CF94DACD.jpeg C0928CD4-05CC-44E1-9457-62D2AA99FF61.jpeg
I was surprised cause I wasn’t expecting much since he didn’t have ankle... anything. But I found that you can use his tail fin halves as a support. It works fantastically.

Also yes, the scoops are wonderful and I love them and I love that they’re here and they’re perfect and thank you MMC. THEY EVEN MADE THE SCREW HOLE MATCH THE GUN HANDLE TO RECREATE THE TOY. I luv it.

I’ll share my thoughts on the other modes and transformation later. But I love him a lot can MMC just make all the combiner members last lol.

A little detail and a nice touch on BlastOff is the faux tail fin on his back in bot mode. They totally didn't have to put that there, but they did.

It’s like a mini version of the Incurus combiner shirt and I love it. Graceful engineering.

So I just got my Blastoff and am as much in love as most of you seem to be. I just have a few questions for the rest of you Blastoff owners:

    1. The front half of the wings. Does it feel like too much strain when you go to separate them to be folded up for robot mode? I worry about strain on the hinges that connect them to the side of the body. Is there a way to move them that doesn't put so much torque on that joint? Would shaving down the tab on each one help this movement or would that be bad for other reasons?

    2. Speaking of those parts, are they supposed to lock in anywhere behind his head? On mine they just kind of sit folded against the back of his collarbone area. They're not floppy, but they can be moved.

    1. Yeas it feels weird when you move them. I just try not to roughhouse it
    2. As far as i can tell they don't lock. It's a minor nitpick of min where i wish they just had a small ledge that could tab in.

    1. Yeah it’s definitely funny. I try not to think too much and move it as gracefully as I can. If there’s already a bit of a give, I’m not gonna give it more give, and it shouldn’t destroy the figure if it can move like that currently.
    2. Yeah there’s no lock. Once again making me wonder why Fraudo and Incursus have a billion locks each and this guy is so bare bones.

One can never have too many Brawls and Swindles. :)

    Brawl2.jpg

Btw, mine came in robot mode without the see-through packaging where you can see the tank.
So I guess they randomly come in 2 different packaging variations?

Only Volatus came in robot mode, the others have two types of packaging depending on the region.

So I combined these guys and Bruticus looks great but, the hips and knees on mine are a completely floppy mess. Like, barely able to stand up. :(

I did some of the fixes in the thread which made them better, but I don't think I was aggressive enough with the extra padding. I'll have to have another go at it. I really hope MMC addresses this issue for those of us that have it.

So i decide that since I likely won't be getting probus in a while, that id try making assaultus poses with nbk scrapper. And like in idw comics, scrapper is a bum leg in combined mode. The combiner is pretty damn solid, but then he fails to hold it up and falls over thanks to scrapper. I still got pretty close to catching that famous hand in ground posr. The only reason I couldn't was cause scrapper kept collapsing like a black hole, sucking all the joy from that picture. The aesthetic of assaultus is delicious however. I appreciate the beauty and size. For me hes large, as the closest I've ever gotten to a combiner is nbk devestator, and never have touched zeta. Probably won't. Currently? 80/100. But I'm pretty sure when I get probus it'll be 100 20200919_192538.jpg 20200919_192238.jpg 20200919_192141.jpg 20200919_192029.jpg 20200919_191428.jpg
