Go with BBTS if you want to save money. After all there's always a chance that their orders will not come through :(

Still not sure whether I hope more that @TerryTFSclub still has my preorder stored or that he doesn't. Ordered it off the old site and haven't heard back from him with my query as to whether it's still valid. He still has my $5 so I assume it's still valid, but I've been stung by new websites (and logins) before.

On the one hand, space choo choo! On the other, crippling debt (not really, but these prices...). At least now I think I know how to change my order to pay in local currency, 'cause his AUD conversion appears a little (lot) excessive for some reason.

I ordered a bunch from them on a guest checkout by accident. Not sure how they handle those. I guess I'll have to message him as well.

I surprised but not shocked given that this was the peak of hikes shipping charges from China. I know from costing Gabriel thst the UK price is essentially the Chinese price plus postage amount plus vat, so if the postage element basically doubled or tripled without warning (which going off their Facebook updates etc. is what DHL were doing in May-July) that UK price suddenly needs to compensate. Clearly that happened with Dunerunner, but I know I only paid deposit and the final cost was upped by a further fiver before I paid the balance.

This will be the first FT figure I open and display since Sheridan (which I regretted and would have rather resold MISB than MIB). Stoked to add this guy and Berserk to the display.

Wait what new site? I also ordered at Terry's and on his site it is still listed among my orders.

But does he have another... New site? I don't get it. And I'm getting anxious now :(

He updated his website in June of last year judging by when I signed up again, where my pre-order was from March shortly after Thomas was originally announced. To the best of my knowledge he hasn't changed anything since and I don't think he has any immediate plans to do so. For a while he had a note about old pre-orders on the new site but after more than a year it's not unreasonable that it's not mentioned any more.

If it's showing up in your account history I wouldn't be worried in the slightest. Mine isn't, though, because it's technically a new account.

Still pissed at myself for missing out on the preorders. Been wanting this character since I was a kid. If anyone cancels on their preorder or doesn't want their figure after getting it, PLEASE CONTACT ME!

I preordered with ShowZ but I haven’t received any type of notification ... is that a bad sign?

They’re inconsistent with notifications, best bet is to shoot them a msg on the site through your order page.

You can just pay it off, you don’t really need a notification. I’d check what the shipping would be by selecting your country on the Thomas page, you may have buy some additional postage for the shipping if it’s needed.

For a company like Fans Toys, I wonder what the sweet spot is between driving initial demand by underproducing product, while also NOT relinquishing excessive profit to the secondary market.

I want to buy FT-44. I want to give Fans Toys my money. But I can’t. I haven’t been able to give them my money for months now. I’ll likely have to give some other buyer my money at a later date. So Fans Toy will have profited once from a unit that will likely sell at a marked up price multiple times soon after release.

I know that scarcity factors into value, but honestly, many (if not most) of their offerings justify their price based on shear quality. They could easily charge more per unit (say, $250-260 for FT-44), produce more units, and still sell out. Because right now, in addition to normal e-trailers/distributors, their business model is adding another layer of middle men (the secondary market) who are also getting a share of profit that could go straight to Fans Toys themselves. Look how many FT-16Ms are being sold right now.

Hell, FT are powerful enough to sell directly to collectors, without any middle men (other than a shipping/logistics company). They could actually create a subscription service where each year you pay 3 or 4 installments and they send you everything they produce. I think a lot of people would sign up for that for peace of mind, and it would help FT reap maximum profit while maintaining steady cash flow. Seems a better way to guarantee sales then the current brief preorder window model. Sort of like season tickets for a sports team.

Anyway, just a few of my non-expert thoughts.

Nah, I have an account. It's just there's no "pay balance" button on my Thomas preorder. Just shows the $10 deposit as it it were the whole transaction. I usually like to preemptively pay off my pre-orders when they get close to release since some sellers will send the payment request after they get their stock and you end up paying after they do their first round of shipments and have to wait.
