I believe this is what Takara wanted to do in POTP but couldnt do with their "Brand Unification" crap deal for the main line. But this release doesnt fall under the main line anymore. It is basically an equivalent to that of a Platinum release which are also double the price and feature older molds in better paint decos. The only problem is that they chose to use the floppy king of turds himself, Volcanicus. And to make things worse, the geniuses at Takara are revealing it a month before the leaked leader class non-combining Dinobots are revealed. This release is definitely bound for Black Friday at BBTS, maybe $125 if youre patient. Takara has made so really stupid decisions lately, along with their $500 reissue of Studio Series Devastator. (a $260 value) 5 of the 8 figures are currently available in retail, and even at the worst scalper prices you can pick up the remaining for more than $100 less. So is there anybody who will pay double the price for dirt and weathering paint apps on construction vehicles ? So somebody in Takara is smoking some serious opium or hitting the sake too hard. Takara needs to drug test their corporate staff and fire the junkie before they bankrupt themselves. The only silver lining from these releases is that we should eventually see a better Abominus with Piranicon hands and feet, a purple head, and more vibrant colors. That I will cough up the $200 for.

This is a better painted deco?

it’s different, sure, but better is debatable.

With the SS 1986 Dinobots coming, I don\'t really need these. The PotP Dinobots are toy accurate and these are... not cartoon accurate enough, they should have painted the outside of the dino heads on Slag and Swoop gold, not the inside, for that. Not to mention the prices.

I wish the new guns and swords were available separately.

im not digging through pages and pages for links because you don’t trust people and can’t take their word.

even with abominous what are you getting? A $200 retooled torso(MAYBE) and hands and feet and a purple head? The limbs are already accurate to not only their toys but also their limited cartoon appearance. 2 episodes in marvel/sunbow cartoon and being in background shots of Headmasters. You guys think that’s worth it more power to ya but that’s a lot money to drop for minor changes

This is the only assumption that is correct. We can speculate, we can make educated guesses, and some of those more than likely are going to turn out to be right, but nothing is fact until proven unequivocally so.

If they did Abominus, I sincerely doubt there would be any retooling beyond possibly a weapon for the combined mode and perhaps using the different hands and feet like this set. Otherwise, I would only expect minor paint variances and no stickers on Hun-Grrr. If this set sells well, I'd be more inclined to think Abominus would get the same treatment.

Would I buy it? Yes. But I don't think it would have the same draw as the Dinobots. Which, if the hidden inputs are to be believed, have presold around 1409 on Pulse as of just now.

I will keep my preorder at HasbroPulse. Meanwhile I'm looking forward to Studio Series 1986 series!

Dude, you're telling me to "take people at their word" when the last time we were supposed to do that it was "Takara said no combiners after the Seacons" and then both God Neptune and Volcanicus happened. So either show your work or get over the fact people don't believe you.

    Still waiting...

I just don’t know if a little more paint and lack of stickers is worth it. I shelled out for king Poseidon because breaking him up into sets and what they did with hoe much production went in was worth it but I wouldn’t for abominous is but if folks have that much attachment I can’t judge. I don’t think it is and I’m an abominous fan. He’s currently on my coffee table because I was playing with him last night and looked at him and said “this fine for me”

I’ve never had this much of a confrontation with but I can now see why you’re on some peoples ignore list. You’re just being stubborn and I’ve always held you in a high regard. You don’t want to believe it fine whatever but I’m not spending my time arguing back and forth because you can’t just see anything past your wants.

For me, it's not so much attachment, I'm a completionist, but I also only collect a subset of characters, so I don't actually spend as much throughout the year as others that collect whole lines. So dropping $200 ends up not being that big of a dent in the budget and certainly gives me more flexibility to indulge releases like this. I'm definitely an outlier in that regard. Yeah, I'd buy it, but I agree with your point that it might not be enough of a difference to warrant the average collector grabbing it.

So I went ahead and pre-ordered this via Hasbro Pulse. The more I look at these comparison images, the more appealing I find the unified/brighter colors when compared to the OG version. I'd rather secure a copy now and cancel later if I change my mind...especially after I blundered with skipping the Seacons. Piecing them together with markup prices has been quite the ride...

I want to believe, and you've seen me demonstrate faith in leakers before. But the thing is, those leakers have provided proof to back up why we should trust what they have to say. If I rolled up tomorrow saying "Oh hey I saw a leak that said we're getting a Commander Magnaboss!" you'd rightly expect me to provide something to demonstrate why what I say should be taken in good faith.

I was previously taking comments like "Takara has said...." in good faith. But the problem is, over time, the people who have been saying that have lost my confidence. Hell, just yesterday I saw someone repeat "Takara said no more retools..." and when I went back a page turns out the only reason they're saying it is because someone told them that (without a link).

Hell, I gave plenty of good reasons why "Takara/Warden/Hasbro said...." stuff is starting to be less helpful. Because we've had very recent situations in which people took what Hasbro/Takara/Warden said and through the typical game of telephone turned it in to something else.

    1. "Warden said ER Bee would be a brand new mold." No, he didn't. Somebody misheard Warden discussing how Bee wouldn't be Cliffjumper with a new head (or something along those lines) and the game of telephone turned it in to "He won't be a retool."

    2. "The next Titan is Metroplex because Warden said he wants to try it again." No. Warden has wanted to take a second shot at Metroplex, but that doesn't confirm anything.

    3. "We'll never get BW updates because Warden doesn't like Beast Wars." (Kingdom happened.)

In the time it's taken you to write your responses, you could've gone back to YOUR source so then I could evaluate that information. Because here's the fun thing...I hunted for the "Takara said no more combiners after the Seacons" source, and I never found it. I just found person after person saying it and I think the closest I got was a Seibertron or TFormers post that just said it based on a second hand account of a panel or interview. Never a straight quote.

So you'll excuse me if, having done my due diligence in the past and finding it to be a futile effort (especially when "Takara said no more combiners..." was clearly proven wrong (or at least misunderstood/out of context) I'd like for people who are so certain to respect the credulity and cite their source.

Ok, I did the digging... and found the referenced link. Funny enough, I found the link by finding another reply to you - I don't expect you to remember every reply, you post a lot! ;)

    Takara Generations Selects God Neptune

This is the post where that originated: Tokyo Toy Show 2019 - TakaraTomy Presentation Info - King Poseidon, G-Shock Nemesis Prime, Masterpiece

It's... rather vague. We are relying on someone's translation of an in-person event apparently. I am not sure you can take that with 100% faith. As I said earlier, the only correct assumption here is that we do not know what they will do next until they do it.

No worries, I was typing the reply out and hadn't reloaded the page, so didn't see it. Sometimes that happens.

What're the odds I have that person on ignore. Because I use it liberally.

That said, appreciate the links. I'll take a look over lunch.
