I think Digital already sold out, but I did get the Disc version

I got lucky cuz I cancelled my disc version to get the digital, but the digital was already sold out. Managed to place an order for the disc version before selling out.

 

Wait, so Spider-Man is getting ported to the PS5? If so, that is awesome as I'll rebuy it.

 

Almost had one at bestbuy but it wouldn't let me confirm payment   launch is not meant to be at the moment.

I don't know if they'll actually honor my order, but I finally just got through the checkout process at Best Buy. Trying not to get excited. However, I did get a confirmation email.  

 

Disc version is still available at Best Buy. You might have better luck getting through at this hour. Maybe try incognito mode. That might help.

 

I've seen a lot of people say they were able to get through by checking out via Paypal. BB's site is either really buggy tonight or they are slowly cancelling duplicate orders.

 

Very mixed feelings about this whole thing. On the one hand, I’m sort of happy that the preorder mess has saved me money in the short term when there is nothing at launch that I badly want (I guess I’ll play Miles Morales on PS4). On the other hand, it was clearly a debacle, and I’m a bit disappointed in Sony when it expressly stated that this wouldn’t happen.

I'm more disappointed in GameStop than anyone else. I got three different answers from three different stores regarding when the pre-orders would go live. I'm just glad you can play Miles Morales on the PS4. That's all I wanted from that system anyway.

 

Poor communication and scalpers. I don't think some people will get a PS5 this Christmas...

 

A problem I have with the PS5's launch, is there is so much shit about the console we still don't know about.
We don't know what the dashboard looks like, some of the games have DLC we were never told about and the console only releases in 2 months.

 

Sony really mishandled this preorder. I signed up for the email preorder. Did I get one? Nope. Would it have mattered? Nope. I’ve bought every single system they have put out, but I guess they don’t really care about the fans. It was just a greedy money grab from the retailers. Ugh.

 

Yeah. I signed up for info from Gamestop, Target, Walmart, and Best Buy. Also put my name on the call list at my local gamestop.

Only notice I hot was the call from my local store... which occurred while I was already in line and over half were sold out. Would not have made it in time. Also heard the manager tell his coworker to stop calling people, because they'll sell out in a little bit. Guy made like 5 calls into a list of dozens

The only reason I got one is because I swung by, on my way home from work, to see what the deal was for the next day. I just happened upon the line and got there just in time to secure it

 

Agreed! This game of chicken Microsoft and Sony played with one another put a damper on the entire release. A part of me wonders if either console will even make their release date.

That questionnaire translated into a big bunch of nothing. However, Sony could be reserving stock to sell at a later date (I'm I thinking too optimistically?).


For everyone still hunting, follow the IGN Deals twitter account. Stores are restocking at all hours of the night (Really Walmart? 3am?). Don't give up hope folks!

 

I gotta give the point to Microsoft though, cause we atleast know enough about the console and what it has to offer. We atleast know what the dashboard looks like, the save-states feature, and new features coming to game pass. Plus with all the scalpers trying to resell the PS5 with a higher price, I see people probably getting pissed and it feels like Sony didn't plan things out like Microsoft.
