Waiting until pictures of the contents of the box are shown just before Nicee is released while saying it was cancelled “for some reason” is barley an apology or explanation.

It is what it is though. Hopefully someone will eventually make an Arcee head. I’m planning on getting some kind of lightsabers and seeing if Nicee can hold the MMC Azalea pistols.

 

Got my shipping notice from ShowZ for Nicee this morning. Multiple ones. Should go fast considering that I’m in Scandinavia. Feel super happy  

 

If the head file going around isn't eventually released, I'll model and offer the file myself once my copy comes in. I've done some work for other 3P companies so it won't be hard.

Paint matching is another story though.

 

That sounds like exactly what happened here.

I actually have a range of pearlescent white paints that I planned on trying, so I will try to remember to report back if I find a good match. They are all airbrush enamels, so if they will apply thinly, evenly, with good coverage and durability. My goal is to find a nice, darker shade for the face, just to create some difference.

 

Thank you for posting these tweets. They actually do go a long way to calm down my fire. At least they addressed the issue, and they did so while there was still time to cancel a pre-order (barely...but there was a day or two there where I could have cancelled had I seen it).

 

if you do end up designing an arcee head, could you make the face a separate piece?
would make painting much easier, and would leave open the possibility for face swapping.(even better if it could use the same connection as the faces included with nicee)

 

Nicee's head can be disassembled, it has a faceplate feature. In fact, the pink cheek plates and forehead area is also a separate piece. The head itself is on a peg system that slips into a neck piece that holds the ball-joint. So for those wanting a budget or can't match the pink and willing to compromise, it could be a simple matter of swapping the faceplate.

Edit: there is another English review up which I think haven't been mentioned. Search for BistoYeti. Very mild, more like a presentation than a super-close up detailed review (most of the close-ups are out of focus really) so no worries in that front.

It's good that they address what's been going on. Can't imagine how bad they're feeling about it themselves. All the same at least the product's not canceled altogether.

That said, i agree with you that it was late, and not ample time to allow fans to cancel it or get a discount on it should they choose to continue...

I think they should have given a little more, like maybe paint the lipsticks and more face expressions like a smiling one for example, a month before actual release.

 

that's why I mentioned the bit about nicee face compatibility, so people could freely swap between the original and custom faces between both the original and G1 head.

Believe me, they are pretty bummed out. This is not their fault. this was out of their control for sure. and they didn't post details because they don't like theatrics (drama) They want their products to be able to speak for themselves.

I think that in itself is saying something and it really does speak for their heart and integrity in regards to the situation. They knew there'd be fallout, but they were brave enough to take it all and released her still. They knew folks would be upset, they knew there'd be cancellations. They still released the figure rather than cancelling the entire toy. Which they just as easily could have done I might add.  

 

Now was that so hard?

I saw that but BFB still didn’t say exactly why they canceled it and then waiting until the last minute was sneaky. As I said before....it is was it is.

I agree they could have done more than that creepy second throwaway face that I will never use. A smiling face, a lipstick face and/or a Nicee styled face with the Arcee red binoculars would have been a lot better.

Lol. They were so brave that they waited until the last possible minute to announce that the Arcee head was pulled. Most people who ordered it probably don’t even realize that they aren’t getting the Arcee head.

You can just block Simp if his comments upset you.

 

What a strange request. "Enjoy things and freely voice our positive thoughts..." You say "freely" and immediately place a restriction on that freedom to only positive thoughts. If somebody has a negative opinion, I see no reason anybody should attempt to curtail their expression of it. And if it seemed like he was repetitive, maybe that's because people kept replying to him and keeping the conversation going. Why attack him and not everybody else who made it a thing? If he'd been allowed to freely express his thought with no rebuttals, I doubt he'd have tried to keep it going.

I was thinking of designing a head for printing but it seems @Zyros is already going to do so, so maybe I'll just wait. Then again, I might be able to do some fun alternate faces as well (especially the visor) so maybe I'll take a crack at it myself anyway. Not convinced I'll be able to match the paint but I do have some pretty good pearl powder to mix into it.

 

It feels like toxic positivity, a little. Their intentions and sadness don’t really change the effects of how they handled this. If they did what they had to, it’s fine; nobody is debating that. It’s the fact that they hid the change for months, announced it with a tweet less than a week before shipping to keep PO’s, didn’t cut the price or offer anything beyond a duplicate of a head that most people who preordered weren’t interested in.. I feel like this has been made clear many times. They don’t need a round of applause for that. Nobody cares how sad GOCI was about taking preorders on a toy he never produced, nobody cares how bummed Maiden Japan was about defrauding people.. hell, nobody cares how sad Hazard was about the Unrustables and even though it was literally out of his hands, he at least kept up with us and tried a little.. I mean, yes.. it’s sad that they’re sad? But not so sad they didn’t try to keep the dough.

Just like BFB, there’s a story behind each of these but the summary is.. they chose to handle a bad situation by letting it trickle down to their customers. Sympathy typically doesn’t go to the folks who do the dirt.

 

We can all just design and print our own add-on set for the figure haha. We don't need BFB to make it for us.
