DNA have been kinda inconsistent with how they reveal stuff, like for example their reveal of the DOTM SS Prime kit (I still haven’t received mine from Kapow) was just a CAD render I believe but then they came out of nowhere with pretty much finished upgrades in the 3 pack for Blackout, Concept Camaro Bee and Sentinel. I wouldn’t count those out just yet! They do listen to suggestions also since DK-15 got a trailer axle upgrade to give Prime an extra working set.

Not to rag on Ruckley as AFAIK it's his first proper Comics gig as a Novelist, I'd say this is a failure at Editorial level, but if you need an "Epic" 5-issue Mini-Series to get on with where your ongoing series narrative really should be by now YA DONE F***ED UP, SON!

Also have we all seen the Hall Of Fame Fan Vote? Choose your TF: Prime Nom, and Vote Sky Lynx for Earthrise toy!

What? You're not gonna vote Sky Lynx because you think Scorponok is better?
Well, sure, fine - if you wanna break poor li'l Johnny Warden's heart after all he's done for you, GO RIGHT AHEAD, YOU UNGRACIOUS JERK! :gen069:

She might not look like much, but she cost me where it counts.

Much much better paint job and detailing than the 2008 era release. I do think the two included figures should have been carded though.

Magic Square Starscream, Soundwave & Laserbeak
Newage Megatron (toy colours) & Insecticons (toy colours)

Megatron's a tad small to work 100% with Magic Square figures but for the purposes of this pic it works pretty well at least until a metallic variant of Magic Square's Megatron happens.

Hey folks! Thanks for the birthday wishes earlier this week: you've warmed an old man's heart.

Speaking of which, I got Rotorstorm through from Amazon today and...

Now I'm finally home after my first day back at work from my two week holiday (that I was SUPPOSED to be in America for, but stupid *grumble grumble*) I can finally crack open these Rebels figures. Let's go in the order they're depicted on the picture on the side of the boxes. And hey, there's seven of them, so let's do one a day... unless I get impatient and do more...

    Garazeb "Zeb" Orrelios

    "Karabast!"

Zeb is the big guy of the team, so he accordingly gets the biggest box out of the set. I like this new packaging that Hasbro are doing, where there's no plastic window on the box itself, the whole thing is a plastic insert in two pieces that sits inside the cardboard. They did the same for the Ghostbusters figures, and I hope it continues. It certainly makes disassembling boxes for recycling a lot easier.

    20200916_194956.jpg

Like all the figures in the Black Series that are based on the cartoons, Zeb is depicted in a 'realistic' style, but still retaining his distinct look. By now most people know that Zeb's species, the Lasat, are based on concept designs for what would become Chewbacca, and it's replicated very well here, with lilac skin and nicely printed purple stripes. His outfit is also nicely done, with crisp colours and the design on his shoulder (some of Sabine's artwork perhaps?) is applied well. He has all the articulation you'd expect from a current Black Series figure, with a couple of extras for his digitigrade legs. Unfortunately, Hasbro seem to have gone back to a single balljoint in the neck, instead of the balljoint and hinge they've been using in other figures recently.

One thing I wish they'd done better was the head sculpt. It's not BAD, but it's also a bit plain. Zeb was rarely seen in the show without a sly smirk or baring his teeth in anger, and by comparison the face on this figure is very neutral and a bit bored looking.

    20200916_195123.jpg

Zeb only comes with one accessory, his bo-rifle, and there's not much else you could really ask for at this scale. Just like in the show, the rifle is capable of switching between two modes, its blaster mode, and its electrostaff mode. All you need to do is twist the middle, pull the middle apart, and extend the tips of the staff. Two electrical effect pieces are included to represent the electricity coursing through the weapon.

    20200916_195316.jpg

I'm very happy with this figure. When I first watched Rebels, Zeb was a character I didn't think I was going to like all that much, but he grew on me pretty quickly, and this is a great representation of him in the Black Series. Not perfect, but still a good figure.

My preference is for a metallic version of Magic Square's Megatron as I don't have any other version of the mould but if the OSKO of the Newage is basically the same as my legit one with the shiny finish and yellow eyes it'd be a worthwhile backup option so thanks for mentioning it as I previously wasn't aware of it's existence.

Clearly PvP is now rubbing it in that I have to wait to do my Ulti-Megs swap after I got Rotorstorm before him, the twerp! :p

Don't ask me why but after making ports for Max's Barrier Blokes, I was compelled to do these thigh triple ports for, er...ah...um...reasons?
    DSC_0056.JPG
I think my backbrain has an inkling they may make some handy hardpoints to find something/someone to plug in there to help support the G1-ish city fanmode leg orientation?
Plenty o' curing time before that gets experimented with though!

Hmmm.....not sure I'd go with either although I do at least know the Newage Megatron is decent enough that an OSKO could work even if I had to make an exception to my "No grey Megatrons" rule.

The other one has the right colours but's an OSKO of DX9's which is showing it's age a bit.

I have a feeling Magic Square will do a metallic variant even if it takes a while as they'll want more use from the mould and they did a metallic Optimus as well so there'll be a demand for both leader characters to get that treatment.
