Agreed Today I learned that you can't beat 4chan, and they are really funny to watch from a distance.
Today I learned that resurrection rituals existed more than eight thousand years ago in nearly every culture the world over.
Everyday I learn that the human race is getting dumber... or maybe they were always this stupid and I just didn't notice? This isn't really something that happened today... but I recently learned that flat Earthers still exist despite mounds of evidence that we live on a globe. Also today I had a conversation with someone about summoning demons and I couldn't tell if they were joking or if the legitimately thought that was a real thing the could do...
Ever feel like checking out some old actor that peaked in the 80s/90s on social media, only to find out that they've became nutjobs proudly drowning in their ignorance and stupidity? Anyway for something less sad, I learned this history tidbit today: Now I REALLY feel like having Liberty Steaks with a side of Freedom Fries. We're not getting dumber, dumb people are getting noticed more. Social media's biggest sin is letting stupid people with stupid ideas come together to amplify and validate their beliefs.
As far as I'm concerned she doesn't get enough hate. If she did the human race would collectively agree to forget her and stop listening to her music. Cardi B, Lil Pump and 6ix9ine should never be allowed to make another song. Also about the deafness... I recommend a medication of pop-punk, 2000s alternative rock and 90s rock music
Today I learned the modern animation community mostly comes from 4chan, and leaks into places like YouTube or Toonzone/"AnimeSuperhero". Plus they can't look outside of what's mainstream unless it involves "muh obscure waifuuuz bro".
Think about how stupid the average person is. Then realize that half of people are dumber than that. - George Carlin I know some people really stick to their guns on the issue not because they believe it, but because they think they're performing some sort of mental exercise by adamantly defending something they don't actually believe in. Though there are those that truly do believe, and those people make me want to scream. BTW, as long as we're discussing knowledge, the Earth is an oblate spheroid, as it's not a perfect globe shape. Case in point: I can talk for HOURS about supernatural events that I know have no basis in fact as if they were real because I enjoy the theories and the possible story ideas. However, I always go into those conversations making it clear that this is all hypothetical for me because I enjoy writing wacky fiction. Dumber people have always tended to be louder. The smarter folks are just quietly going about their business and continuing to absorb as much actual knowledge as they can. The fact is the internet is the first worldwide platform for consolidating wing-nuts, conspiracy theorists and idiots with either bad ideas or horrendous agendas. And I fear there are enough people that treat it as a knowledge base that we are collectively beginning to see a downturn in the overall intelligence of our species. While there will always be some smarter folks around, it's going to get harder and harder to raise a child that's inquisitive enough to investigate the nature of truth when they grow up being inundated with anti-science preachers and "alternative facts." It makes me happy my wife and I were never able to conceive when we tried.
