This is what I'd prefer as well. I just remember reading an article way back that some weird blue or green bot jumping out of the Magnus armor. I'd just prefer him being white/blue Prime core bot with his armor, not a mantle. We'll see I guess...

I'd really like to Magnum, to wear the armor one day. He was hinted at being rebuilt into Magnus... Or maybe he is he armor...

Man the contrast between toy design and regular IDW-esce design is really distracting

I get that, and I understand that the author is trying going for the whole "the ends don' justify the means\bad deeds corrupt the noble cause" message. Hell, one could argue it's even pretty relevant right now, since Bob Chipman's idiotic line "There are not bad tactics, only bad targets" seems to be the motto for a lot of self-righteous, pretend-play freedom fighting morons right now. Still, the way it's written feels a little stilted and unnatural, and not in the "it makes sense for alien robots to talk like this" way. Honestly though, I only really have a problem with the quoted part of what Prime's saying to Megatron in that panel, it kinda feels like a part of the dialogue Ruckley's come up with while brainstorming for an early version of the script, and forgot to strike it out for the final draft. I say delete the quoted part and change the remaining text so it flows better without it (Maybe something like "No matter how noble your cause might be, the means will defile it, turn it into something unrecognizable. YOU might turn into something unrecognizable.) and I think we're golden. Then again, I can't say my stance isn't a mostly subjective one, and your mileage may vary. Hell, most people will probably think my version stinks a whole lot more than the original.

But yeah, I too miss Prime talking about traps, booby or not. I think he and Fred Jones could really bond over their fascination with them.

Wow. After reading so many of the comments about the recent run of TF material, I\'m wondering how many of you actually *like* Transformers?

I remember many years of there being no TF comics or TV shows. If I enjoy it - cool - if I don\'t I certainly don\'t spend a lot of time being unhappy about it online. lol

Joys of the internet, endless complaining. But, complaining comes from a point of passion for a hobby. While it seems derogatory, I also think it's more out of wishful thinking the comic brand would improve. I too have been a longtime comic reader, since it all began in 1984. However, there have been runs which disappointed me, and I vented this feeling on these forums. Hearts of Darkness, the Avengers/Transformers crossover, the current run of IDW ongoing, are some examples.

However, as you weed through the forums, there are plenty of praise to be had for Transformers '84 and other mini-series which receives plenty of praise.

It's there, just sometimes the negativity appears to be more vocal.

I hear you. The message that they're trying to convey isn't really anything I care about. The comment was more on ultimate delivery of any given line.

I've given up on IDW2 for the time being. Not my cup of tea, and I really do miss the days when Optimus was more of a blue collar hero than some godhead. I felt like it made him more relatable. Still, there are always fans of very formal dialogue. I recall in my old tabletop RPG days there were players that insisted that all elves sounded like Downtown Abbey characters reciting Lord Byron. So yeah. Mileage may vary, the point being that Prime hasn't talked like a normal person since Animated (i.e. over a decade) so it's not exactly unheard of for him to start spouting off overwrought nonsense.

The thing is, the dialogue here doesn't sound like it was written with the intention of reflecting how sentient alien beings might sound like, it sounds like slightly awkward, stilted dialogue written for human characters. I'm not saying it's horrible, and Ruckley probably has a tight schedule he has to stick to, but it also sounds like something a good editor would catch and tell the writer to tweak a little. You can't justify the dialogue being off by them being aliens when they are already as humanized as they are and the author is trying to express very human ideas. If you want an actual example of extraterrestrial beings that truly act and talk in alien ways, check out the Hard Ones and Soft Ones form Isaac Asimov's The Gods Themselves.

Oh yeah, I hear you too! I'm not a fan of how Prime has become this coin-operated speech dispenser on two legs during the last decade or so. All the people trying to emulate Cullen seem to forget that in the Sunbow cartoon his Prime wasn't stoic 24/7; in fact, he had had all sorts of emotional range. He was capable of being angry, agitated, overjoyed, sarcastic, the works. Even Cullen himself has been voicing a character like he was in constant speech mode, though I'd imagine that's at least partially the fault of the directing.

I also agree that a more formal tone can work with the right setting and tone, including Transformers. Furman has also written lines that sound a little ridiculous when spoken out loud, but their bombast often fist the over-the-top, cosmic menace style scenarios he like to set up. It's just that if one wants to write Prime as an eloquent speaker, one should avoid phrasing that comes across as cumbersome, like using a word as pedestrian as "thing" twice in a short sentence. But hey, that's just my opinion, and we know what people like to compare those to!;)

On the topic of IDW2, have you been keeping up with Galaxy? The Constructicon story could've been better, but the first issue of the Cliffjumper story didn't seem that bad.

Well, you are spending time complaining online about other people complaining online, aren't you? :lolol

Some people like enjoying TF and discussing it, even the parts that might not be to their liking. As longs as people aren't throwing AVGN-ripoff style chimpouts, what's the harm? I actually like seeing people express their dislike for things I enjoy in a civil manner, it helps me see it from different perspectives and appreciate the things I like about it even more. I can also write a blog about how I don't like it when my hamburger's overcooked, doesn't mean I suddenly hate hamburgers or that I spend all my time being miserable about chewy, shoelace-like patties.

I think Cullen is a professional doing a job. Can't hate him for that. If someone wanted to pay me megabux to make Optimus sound like a hate filled murder machine that rips off faces and craps down the facehole, then by all means tell me what part of "I want your face" you want me to put emphasis on.

In re: Galaxies... I can't read this book, or any of the IDW books. I really, really tried. Like many, this version of Transformers isn't catching me. It's a conflagration of things. I don't like the art, I don't like the dialogue, I don't like IDW's overall philosophy towards TFs or Ruckley's direction. Now, I don't HATE any of it. I'm not a fan of how the characters are being used, the plot, the setting and the dialogue is boring to me.

More power to those that like it. It's probably a chocolate/vanilla thing. It's not for me and I got tired of being negative about it all the time so I went to find my flavor elsewhere. I peek in here every so often to see if things are different and unfortunately for me they're not and I make the most of it to post a picture of Optimus saying "boobies".

So like, these stories are way too silly. I kinda love them.

The art is pretty great as well. I just assumed either the Bots or Ponies would look out of place, but they both look pretty great and accurate.
