I may have posted this earlier in the thread, but I keep coming back to the idea of how badly I feel like Hasbro/IDW botched this, from a standpoint of the fiction and toylines reinforcing and feeding off each other.

You have here, a series that is following Siege pretty much completely from a design standpoint, but the concept of Siege the toyline was "the last day of the war on Cybertron" and here we are 2 YEARS worth of issues later and the war hasn't even started yet, while the NEXT LINE of figures is almost over. :wtf:  That's not a slow burn, that's not even smoking a brisket, that's absolutely GLACIAL. (I couldn't think of an appropriate "hot" metaphor, I apologize)

When it seems to me, sitting here as an armchair quarterback (but who works in a tangentially related creative field) you seriously could have worked together (Hasbro likely having most of the 3 lines planned out before IDW even began production) and done a 36 issue monthly maxi-series, with 12 issues per sub series focusing on the macro tale and the Galaxies (or equivalent series) focusing on smaller more personal or focused stories set around and alongside it.

A story with a really strongly defined beginning, middle and ending (with an endpoint in mind from the very beginning), and supplementing any additional whims of the writers with miniseries (ala LSOTW) and the appropriate level of synergy between what's in the books and what's on the shelf. (but with foreknowledge so things can be more organic, like how Wheeljack and Arcee were in the Siege Netflix series and you avoid the Marvel-era "new character dump".)

It just doesn't seem that hard...

I have no idea where they think the endpoint of this book would be, but it seems rather unlikely it will ever actually make it there selling sub-10K an issue (last month before Covid) with IDWs rocky financial ground. Really, that's the only thing I can figure, these sell so low that Hasbro just doesn't care that much? they get a few 'free" thousands in licensing fees and keep the name out there???

Finally a PV. I am always happy seeing Prowl getting screentime, I like his characterization in this series so far (beginning with one of the very first scenes when Ironhide talked about how Prowl wrecked other bots' self-confidence by being pissed at them).
I wonder about what kind of speech Megatron is about to hold, but it's probably Quake related. It's funny that so many find this series boring and glacial while I considered it interesting from the start but almost felt asleep during the entire run of Siege which is in turn mostly liked some the people who dislike the comics it seems. Or both are disliked. Though Siege having anything resembling worldbuilding and showing more than three different backgrounds would have helped.
I needed up to seven hours to watch some of the later episodes of that.

Now thinking about Prowl, I wonder if he will be the next target for Voxpop's conspiracy theories after Prime. It felt good seeing him stating his opinion of him live on tv while dragging him away like some drunk rando or something.

Look closely at how they have Megatron posed on the cover.

It always bugs me when science fiction authors make up some kind of alien monster and name it stuff like "silicon energy leeches". Sentences would get real clunky if we started naming stuff like that normally. Then again, life would be infinitely more amusing if my dog became: "Carbon-based domesticated assistant predator".

"Just a minute, Phil. My kid's aquatic scaled ichthyoform filter feeder just died and I gotta flush it down the toilet."

Forgive me for this kind of off topic question, but is Ultra Magnus still some random robot wearing the Magnus armor, or is he his own character again? Again, sorry for the randomness of the question.

"How the thing is done becomes the thing itself" Don't wanna be a Negative Nancy, but the dialogue is kinda clunky. The art could stand to be a little better as well, especially for what's supposed to be the main series everyone should be reading. E.J. Su's art in Infiltration and Escalation, now that's how you grab people's attention. They don' make them like they used to... *sips Monster Zero*

Unknown right now, and this might be unpopular but I would be fine if he was a white and teal Optimus like bot underneath.

Dreamwave did it. If I recall it was well received. Referenced the original toy.

I've felt like the writers are trying to impersonate Simon Furman... and failing.

If you want a comic written like Furman... YOU GET SIMON FURMAN.

This why Secrets and Lies has been praised while the ongoing continuously gets buried.

Eh. Prime's been something of an orator for a while now. Occasionally, his prose is going to be a bit purple. It's really not that different than stuff my dad used to tell me when I was a kid: "What you do makes who you are" was a mantra for me growing up.

We're a long way aways from Prime discussing boobies these days.

\"If you make measured change impossible, you make chaotic change inevitable.\" Say what you will about this comic as a whole, but that\'s a great line. Topical, too.

The old "Dreamwave squat pose" makes an unwelcome comeback on the cover.

    sigh...

P.S. The artwork itself is quite good though. It's the pose that sucks balls.

    We don't know yet.
The imposter M.Ambus does not wear armor more like he's piloting a mech suit! The original UMagnus I know is the bot that wear an armor trailer like the G1 toy and Dreamwave Comic, lol.

QFT. When Dreamwave revealed the white Magnus robot cab bust out from his armor, my inner childhood felt like justice had finally served. Back in the 80s, I was so happy to see Takara showed the white Magnus robot cab art for their 1986 TF back box art in which the US box was lacking. I had the toy back then and I always wished they would show his inner form.

Glad issue #10, they finally shows his Siege design....
