My wild guess is that some considerable percentage of Evac toys sold at the ride goes to Bay and they want to stop writing big cheques, because TF5

I MUST HAVE THAT! Can somebody help me buy and ship out to me? Please? I have an Evac collection and this needs to be in it!

If the toy keeps selling at their store, why the hell would they care what people do with the toy afterwards? And what does TLK have to do with it?

 

Mega Bloks became Mega Construx, and is still holding onto licences like COD, Halo, Terminator, MOTU, TMNT... it’s not dead really, but it’s not sold in the UK.

Cobi, a Polish brand, is on the rise with military vehicle sets. It got the licence to make Topgun jets to tie in with the new movie.

whilst all the shit ones are gone, the “fake Lego” brands that remain are doing quite well. I think Kreo could make a comeback if they stick to small sets to begin with.

 

Cant wait for the release to add in my kreo display cases. Hope they have more micro changers or release the 3rd warriors wave.

 

Gentlemen, here now is another confounding wrinkle in our story. I’m at the parks today, and I come to find both versions of this set sold at once!

 

It still really bothers me that “NEST Sentry” is just a reuse of the Beachcomber print.

Same here. Why wouldn't they do Ironhide or Ratchet? Seems like a weird pick.

 

I did not! Actively looked for it, didn’t find it. Preordered mine on Pulse, anyway.

Easy: they want something that’s unique to Universal to incentivize a purchase. I know for sure Movieverse Ratchet already existed in Kreon form by the time these were out.

 

That’s right, I forgot they did Ratchet! I’d really like a movie Ironhide kreon, though.

 

They're technically separate products, with different product codes and barcodes.

 

The (Orlando) Universal Studios online store has the second version listed (it just arrived at my house about an hour ago... yes, in Australia).

Now owning the first two sets, the figures share the same body construction.
The only noticeable differences for the second versions are...
- a flat display plate instead of the block display plate of the first version set.
- everyone has the black paint lines done a little thicker, so it stands out more (makes Megatron's feet look almost completely black)
- Evac - chromed weapons and darker blue plastic.
- Megatron - flat grey plastic instead of glossy plastic.
- Optimus - smokestacks are similarly flat grey instead of glossy grey, blue plastic is slightly darker, and the blue paint is lighter.
- Bumblebee - yellow plastic is slightly darker, grey gun is flat grey instead of glossy grey.
