Before the pivot to include 86 guys, my impression was they'd start to tap in to the Bee films concepts and do a few other "G1 guys in the Bee movie style" format.

I think another reason to keep Studio alive in this manner, other than the fact it's a successful brand so why waste it, is that they're trying to get a new batch of movies out to theaters. Using the 86 stuff (and likely beyond) to buoy it while they figure out that direction is smart. So once there's another movie hitting theaters they're able to drop the figures in there seemlessly like they did the Bee movie cast.

They can't though, as ER Optimus/Megatron are essentially the Studio versions of those characters. You can't "flood" Studio with them for the same reason you can't flood WfC...there's only one version that is "screen accurate" per the current goals of WfC.

And if they start doing all kinds of different Primes (Animated, UT, PMOP, etc) then it's just doing it's job and delivering screen-accurate figures.

And to be on subject, getting 2 of the hot rods and 2 kups. for season 3 and targetmaster/season 4 displays. I'm selling my takara legends ones . as for the targetmasters, I'll just customize the battlemasters to look more G1 for those figures.

Yeah I think we'll end up seeing more Bee figures....... more of those first 5 minutes of the movie designs. I mean people are clamoring for a movie just like those first 5 minutes so the toys would definitely sell.

Can you say you’ve ever played with a robot dinosaur’s skeleton? I don’t think so, especially not with the regular Dinobots

I think my 2 examples were very well liked because they had never received a mass retail figure prior. Especially a voyager class triple changer. But where are they now ? Go on ebay. Easy to buy. Hard to sell. Another problem with "neo" is the alt modes. All new Earth cars look too similar. The remaining worked good in 2008 when the hobby was more kid friendly. Kids couldnt relate to 80s alt modes. But now the hobby is adult collector based and kids are the afterthought. So I dont see G1 going away anytime soon.

I'm liking the fossilizer. Would like to do a chimera of all of them together.

Hot rod's future is so bright...

It's just how they maintain the WFC series USP of figures that can be broken up into accessories, with Seige they used the sidekicks to the cityformers that had been redone recently, with Earthrise they gave old micromaster bases robot modes, for Kingdom they went
"what's sort of connected to Beast Wars that you take apart and put back together again?"

    "Fossils."

Yours is the false logic. Yes, surviving a total reinvention was that big of a deal, because if Beast Wars wasn’t successful Transformers would have been completely cancelled, and Hasbro would have moved into something else. Those are the facts. And in case you hadn’t noticed, the Movies did rule supreme for several years.

And believe it or not... I actually did ask people who G1 Optimus Prime was. And guess what? Joe Shmoe on the street mistook him more often for Lord Business or some Power Rangers Zoid. How do I know this? Because several years back I created a G1 Prime costume out of cardboard. And only a select few parents actually recognized it.

If you look at whats being dumped on ebay, that aesthetic isnt very popular anymore. RTS was only Kup from the neck up. And when fans propose a reflector repaint from RTS Perceptor, you know the characters were loosing their individuality.

Why should he? If Hasbro does him, it'd just be the TF5 toy re-released in maybe more paint apps. After all TF5 started at the same time as SS, and most characters from that movie were just re-releases of their toys in SS or as new characters (KSI Boss, Crankcase, Cogman, Drift). I see little chance, or even, little need to remake characters from that movie in SS. Earlier ones, sure.
Also, given how many knights in the movie the dragon is formed from, while showing no parts from them... it would be downright impossible.

I decided to sell Takara Hot Rod after WFC Siege Firedrive came out. Looked so much better than the Takara Legends one, and I never cared for the weird big and translucent chest, even if the rotating engine assembly was a nice touch.
I decided to sell Kup once they made Recoil, but well, that never happened... however this might prompt me to sell him too.

Definitely getting all of the Fossilizers. This reminds of the Deinonychus and Zur set from the Bone Age toyline, the only one I had. Excited.

The fossilizers make some think the absence of Bludgeon (in the mainline) might be because they have big plans, Pretender Plans... and the armor up style that these Fossilizers and Modulators bring is almost a test run.

Both SS86 figures look very promising, and I'm not disliking what that fossilizer is going for thus far.

It's a good idea to have one generations sub-line fill the trukk not munky buyers while the other sub-line moves into beast territory. Nostalgia for all, and more for me since I like both.

We're supposed to be getting a pterosaur one, but they won't be "bat-like" wings.

Bat wings have the membrane supported between the four main extended "fingers" of a five-fingered hand (bat's thumbs remain separate), giving them that characteristic scalloped wing edge as the membrane pulls taught between each digit.

Pterosaur wings, by contrast, consist of a single membrane that joins from the ankle to a singular extend "pinky" finger, leaving the remainder of the multi-digit hand free for grasping/climbing. They don't have that iconic bat-wing look at all, looking more like an outstretched sail.
