Ankles and elbows are decent enough for possibility but the knees, hip, And shoulder joints don't hold Up at all.

 

What are you doing to it that it's floppy? Mine is solid as are many others on this thread. Have you bothered to contact your retailer or MMC for replacements if yours is so loose?

 

That sounds like a complete Incursus replacement unfortunately  

 

Basically exactly my feelings on the combined mode. You definitely need to work with him, but you can get him in some pretty damn cool poses in spite of his shit ratchets. Great review.

So it seems like the issues are still totally fixable. The hips and knees can get the springs compressed more, and the Vortex shoulder just needs to get tightened using the screw?

 

Standing posture so nothing crazy, I assure you, and no, I have not reached out to TCP as I only merged the team yesterday to encounter the issue with the multiple joints.

 

Thanks for the help in locating that hiding spot for Vortex’s gun. After having and loving Ragnaros, this isn’t floppy at all and a lot more pose able. I find myself a lot happier when I’m not looking for perfection lol. What’s the deal with only getting one replacement ratchet? That’ll just stay in the box no doubt

 

They only provided one ratchet because Volatus is heavier than Impetus, so his arm doesn't stay up as well in combined mode. Some people have requested a second from MMC which they charge $10 for.

 

That ratchet they provide is much heavier to the point of needing a 2nd just so they aren’t so different lol

 

There are three places I've found to store it. First, in Onslaught's back. There's two small holes that will fit the gun in combined mode. Secondly, in Vortex's combined mode forearm, in the empty cavity where the hand used to be. Last, my personal favorite, in the tail end of Vortex's helicopter mode, there's enough space to store the gun between the two panels.

 

Yeah, I'll need to test it myself once I get a chance to finish combining Assaultus. I got Probus last week but only got around to transforming 3 of the members. Hopefully I can finish up this week and see how everything is in combined mode.

Been lurking here a while now, finally made an account so I can comment here - this set of figures is just amazing to me. Huge praise for MMC, and AK in particular - I only recently found out how much of my collection he had a hand in, and I'm looking forward to more. The Vortex is probably my favorite, for a while I fooled myself into thinking I'd be happy just buying him alone. (Have a bit of helicopter weakness)

I haven't had any ratchet problems at all, in fact I haven't even bothered to replace the Probus ratchet - but I don't have many MP-scale combiners to compare with, so maybe there's better stuff out there I haven't felt yet. I suppose it is a bit on the weaker side in that it's not going to hold any more load than the figure+gun angled out at 90 degrees, but I don't usually pose combiners holding other stuff so that's not an issue for me.

I get that some people feel that the all-built-in concept isn't worth the sacrifices, I imagine that for someone who prefers to perch their combiners on a display shelf for long periods of time would put very little value on it and instead gravitate toward engineering that prioritizes the look. For me though, the all-built-in thing is exactly what I wanted and want more of. I always have a few figures on my desk to transform when I'm feeling fidgety, even more so now that my workplace is at home - and for combiner teams I really don't like having to keep up with a bag of parts that don't make any sense at all when they're not combined. (Combiner kibble that can transform into something believable like the Assaultus upgrade ramps / "cargo" or the Gravity Builder forearm trailers can work for me too.)

I think my only real complaint is Blast Off not having any kind of ankle articulation - it's a bit awkward getting him into any kind of pose. His engineering and alt mode are probably in my top 2 for the set though, so overall he feels strong.

I'm likely to buy every other MMC all-built-in combiner built to this standard, looking forward to their next set. (Defensor?)

MMC could probably release a Defensor and a Piranacon before GT completes their Defensor.
