I like the idea of Megatron wearing a G1-esque helmet in concept, but I don't particularly like it in execution here. I'm not sure the simplistic helmet fits well with the more complex face. I also don't particularly think the colors look good (I wish the helmet was the same color silver as the face). Still, it's a neat idea, and I could see how this could work with some tweaking.

Reading this thread, I still find it interesting that, in a brand that has almost zero consistency in regards to designs, the Bay films receive so much flak for not adhering to a 35 year old cartoon that is mostly known for its cheap looking animation, goofy animation errors, and having some of the most entitled fans I have ever seen.

No, it’s never explained. It’s mostly hinted that Quintessa turned him back into Megatron because of the red scar on his face. This isn’t surprising since there wasn’t very much thought that went into The Last Knight.

I like "Sidekick's" character design. I can see how the front of the car would have transformed uniquely into a robot torso.

Seeing concept art for some of the older movies being brought up got me thinking about something I came across awhile ago, and maybe this is a tangent that's been covered, but has anyone addressed this AOE art that seems to show a Yellow 'Stinger' titled as 'Wasp', suggesting he was seemingly going to be more of a direct "evil clone" type for the movie?

Thanks, glad I didn't miss anything. Only watched it one time and it is the only DVD I never bought. Picked up the DVD in store, looked at it and thought, "it took me 3 days to get through AOE for the 2nd time on DVD, am I ever going to watch this one again?"

Only thing I remember from TLK in theaters was my buddy asking me about 3/4 of the way through "What the hell is going on?"

There are subtle clues sprinkled throughout the film that shows how Megatron received his new body, having the same mark that Quintessa gave Optimus the next scene, it's literally right after Megatron's first appearance in The Last Knight. Megatron knowing about and searching for both the talisman and the staff. Megatron knowing Earth is Unicron in the final act. And finally calling Infernocus by name. All clues point to Quintessa having something to do with his new body.
Quintessa managed to repair Optimus' after his damages sustained fighting Lockdown. The electricity-esque energy that Optimus is being seemingly electrocuted with could be Energon she's pumping into Optimus to repair him as his battle damage disappeared from the scenes with him standing in front of the mural of her (former) guardian knights, as she exposits the opening of the film when Merlin received her staff.

And quite honestly it's obvious Megatron would never let the name "Galvatron" stick because in this continuity humans named him that and we all know humans aren't his most tolerated species he had the displeasure of associating with.

It was DEFINITELY a step in the right direction though. A shame they scrapped the idea for DOTM and we didn’t see anything like this until The Last Knight...

If helmet was same color as face it wouldn’t be called helmet it would be called his head calling helmet to blend in with his face same color as his face will be pointless calling it helmet begin with.,

I like version we got in movie is better

I get what you're saying. It doesn't have to be the exact color of his face, maybe it could be a darker grey or something. Or even black, as someone else mentioned. Something about the tan/offwhite color just doesn't work for me.

Megatron was tan in DOTM while his head was silver so I'm assuming the helmet was supposed to match the rest of his body.

Those Megatron concept designs are rad! Love the callback to DOTM Meg's messed up face. However, it really does drill home the fact how much they threw away Galvatron...

Those are DOTM concept arts, not TLK.

To be honest I liked that they left the head as it was in DOTM. Then again I honestly grew to like the movie Megatron head especially when ROTF added the longer prongs on the sides which gave him a more Galvatronesque feel in my eyes. The helmet maybe could have been an alternative to the cape (though I liked that too) but I'm honstly glad they didn't ultimately go with it. Especially the one seen here just looks goofy.

Thanks, reasonable conclusions and deductions. Saves me from eventually watching it again and trying to figure it all out.

The helmet makes sense in DOTM case since his head got exposed so it\'s kinda logical that he wears a helmet to protect it

That’s some beautiful concept art, I’d honestly like if they applied the same sort of continuity conscious design to the TLK design in terms of bridging the gap between Galvatron and Megatron.

One thing these pictures confirm is that Aoe Bee is in fact a couple feet taller than the original trilogy Bee. People have said that, but it's cool seeing visual side by side evidence
