Thanks for the info. I got the pins in the legs out, but scared to remove the feet. Am I just trying to use a spudging tool or something similar once the plastic softens in hot water to pry the foot out? Or do you just pull the foot out from the thin swivel peg?
Whoa! I would be pixxed if my figure got the above paint defects. I think the "normal" head looks ok...the most important parts would be the face and chest area... I'm perplexed how the factory dropped the ball on paint apps...its worse than the MOTU Classics Filmation series... May I know how you remove the pins? Did you use a tool?
From what I remember, I pulled open the two ankle "flaps" to release the feet once they were soft enough; I think they clip onto the feet. Maybe similar to this? I think you might have answered your own perplexity. After seeing firsthand how bad some of the Filmation figures were, and also having seen Pixel Dan talk repeatedly about paint simply rubbing off the weapons, I was like, Yeah, S7 doesn't really give a shit about the finer details. To be fair, though, paint was pretty inconsistent on the original Matty Thundercats. You'd figure, though, if S7's gonna bump up the price by 40%, we'd hopefully see an increase in quality as well.
I have no clue what magic you used to accomplish this, but when I try to pull both ankle flaps, it seems like the peg in the middle is joined together. Did you end up cutting it to separate them? I set the leg in hot water and this thing ain't movin. It seems the only thing I can do is pull the foot off, but the plastic peg holding the foot is super thin and I'm afraid I'm gonna break the foot off.
Oh man, I hope S7 sort out the QC before wave 2 is released...all this paint issues is making me having thoughts of getting some of their Disney Ultimates figures. The peg should be removable...I did something similar with other figures (ML and DCUC?) before and I must admit, it was tough to pull out for me. If you are worried about breakage, don't do it as I'm uncertain if the plastic S7's factory uses is er, sturdy.
Whelp... I did it, but man... What a complete pain in the ass that was. The feet popped out and it was a bitch getting them back on. Had to use a plyer wrapped in some thick cloth to hold the peg and push the feet in. Now everything looks nice, but his ankles are complete dog shit. Time to get some glue to see if I can tighten them up.
I must say, even after the shitshow that was replacing Jackalman's parts, these guys look great. Can't wait for the next waves.
I agree, they look great! Nice job switching Jackalman’s shins too. I doubt I would have had the nerve to try it.
Ordered mine 4 days ago, opted for priority shipping. I havent heard ziltch.. I never learn. I should of ordered from TCP.
Like @LigerPrime stated, take your time if you do attempt it. I think I could have been a bit more patient with it. Removing the pins wasn't that terrible at all. I left the legs in hot water for multiple 1 minute intervals, dried them off in between, used a screwdriver with a small hexagon bit wrapped in thick cloth and a rubber mallet When I swapped the lower legs, I would push in the pin on one side as best as I could with just my hands to line them up, wrapped the leg in thick cloth, used a plyer to gently push the pin in place, pushed it in further with the screwdriver and rubber mallet. The feet, were the absolute worst part of the whole process. I would dip them in hot water in 1 minute intervals and the only thing I could do was pull them off by hand after applying some Shock Oil. I would say DO NOT TWIST and pull at the same time... Just pull. Once they come off, have a drink, watch some Cobra Kai on Netflix, have a snack, take a nap, then try to put the feet on correctly. Did more hot water bathing for the feet and pegs, basted the pegs and foot hole with Shock Oil, wrapped the peg with cloth to hold it with a needle-nose plyer and try your best to push it in. God speed!
Congrats man! I must admit that the figure looks really good! I remembered it was very difficult for me too on the figures I did the swaps with (ML and DCUC)...it was so tedious for me that I didn't try it for some of the mis-assembled MOTU Classic figures that I got... The tough part was pushing the peg back into the peg-hole...I had to keep using my hair dryer...and at the same time I was worried of the the heat permanently warping the plastic.
Got the first wave. Two sets. All good, I had the tiny ad-crunch flashing on Lion-O another member had a bit back and one of my Panthros has a plastic imperfection on his face little excess plastic. Not too noticeable. I’ll have to free him up next weekend and check it out. But really nice Lion-O like him more than Mattel. Better ankles, the paint is excellent, the plastic feels great. The joints are all consistent and tight no weird tolerances. Seems like S7 is getting their grove. So far it blows their MOTU releases away.
Is it true super7 is announcing wave 4 on September 14th? dream wave would be: bengali Cruncher Chilla Lynxo
I think Vulture or Monkian would be likely for wave four. Bengali is probably a good guess too. I would bet the other two will be more obscure, but of course, I’m just guessing.
