I always wanted Universe/Henkei Hound's missile launcher accessory to mount on his shoulder in a more secure and aesthetically appealing way. You can sort of hook it over the back edge of the hood part, but it barely stays on and is at a bad angle. So I designed a 3D-printed adapter to hold the missile launcher securely at a nicer upward angle. I wanted to make it very minimal to hold the missile launcher without adding additional kibble. The adapter installs by sandwiching between the wheel and wheel mounting arm when transforming. The wheels will end up very slightly off-center when adapter is in place, this is necessary for the adapter to be held securely. Does not store in alt mode. Thanks. Me too. It just captures the personality of Hound better, especially in the head sculpt. Hound and Starscream were the very first new-school Transformers toys I bought. It feels cool to be making an upgrade for him now after all this time, since he's where it all started. --- Prints of this are now on Shapeways. I ended up going through a crazy number of iterations on this project, something like 44 versions I think. It was tricky to get a part to fit correctly in such an oddly-shaped space, and each print only took like 10 minutes, so I printed a new prototype even after very small adjustments. Here's a pic of all my test prints:
I feel the exact same way. The only thing it really needs over the Siege version is a waist swivel. But I love the way this figure looks (I actually like the Hasbro version over the Takara one). This is a great piece to help make that shoulder launcher work. A real shame they didn't get that right the first time.
Nicely done. This version of Hound will always hold a special place in my heart, being a nice toy homage of my first transformers toy.
Took a few minutes to figure out how it attached, but once I did it fit right in place. The launcher placement was honestly my biggest complaint about the figure
