I love this project but wanted to give you all a heads up that build quality is really sketchy, at least on Mixmaster.

Broke his foot clean off on the first, gentle, transformation. Upon close inspection after the break, the foot pivot joint had a blob of extra plastic INSIDE the joint that created the cracking point. So, I'm still all in on this team since Devy looks great. But cringing with each team member.

BTW I contacted showzstore about the issue, and they're giving me the runaround with no help in sight...

Much like a lot of connections on both figures so far, these panels are meant to tab in.. but your results will vary. mine do not. I’m sure quite a few must.

Just got mine and he is awesome.

So far I only have two issues with him. First: why is my yellow while everyone else seem to get a green one? And second: how do I get him to transform into Devy's leg?

    Umm...

You got Payload, a yellow repaint of the mold Bombusbee’s version is based on. He doesn’t turn into a leg either. I hope you’re joking, because chances are you just got scammed big time.

    EDIT: Oh dear.

I'd be inclined to try and go in on this set, but Mixmaster being so riddled with flaws and QC issues makes me /very/ wary about it.

I needed a replacement for the screw hole cover piece for Split’s crotch. Trying to source one through TF Direct where it was originally purchased, as of last month they’re still waiting to hear back from the manufacturer. The initial request was five months ago.

Mixmaster is admittedly not great in the QC department, but Long Haul (Smash) is terrific. Not a single problem with mine. If the rest of them turn out like Smash then we’re in for a great set of figures. I wonder what the odds are of a “fixed” reissue of Mixmaster/Split at some point down the line.

That doesn’t bode well for me. TCP is trying to get me a spare wheel for Smash. I returned Split to them straight up, because he was such a QC mess.. but I told them that if they don’t hear back by the time they receive Split in the mail, to let me know and I will just return Smash as well.

I’m already over this experiment of DS’s.. The combiner port on Smash won’t properly assemble, anyway, so I think that I for one will probably switch over to that OSKO of the SS. My biggest gripe with the SS version was the look of the head and neck area, and I don’t imagine they will let it stay as-is. At least I know that version won’t likely disintegrate during combination..

It seems all sellers are equal but some are better than others. Where did you get yours?

That’s something, at least. I know it sounds silly, but it’s nice to have confirmation that DS is at least communicative, and sending parts out. There are bigger groups out there who don’t, after all.

Awesome figure. Initially the plastic quality had me slightly concerned as it felt different from other plastics I've handled, but it ended up being extremely durable. I would compare the feel to Steel Claw from Dream Factory (which has also proved extremely durable), but maybe a little better. The plastic feels light and maybe a little brittle, but it definitely doesn't break easy (not that I've tried to break it).

Some of the tabs and pegs require a little finessing and force to get into and out of place and I haven't seen any wearing from that, let alone anywhere else on the figure.

No loose hinges or screws. A couple tight screw were easily loosened and have stayed put. No loose tire issue on mine either.

I don't understand the ratcheted shoulders, but they aren't a big deal.

Extremely posable. Lots of fun and sturdy dynamic poses with this guy.

Transformation is pretty fun once you get the hang of it. Everything needs to be tabbed in Pretty perfectly to avoid gaps, but once it's tabbed in, it stays...except for the rear tire pegs that peg into the chest in truck mode on mine. They will flip out pretty easily by themselves, but once I have everything else tabbed in truck mode, they stay secure and don't pop out.

Very solid figure. Very impressed with its plastic quality.

Can't decide how I prefer the tires in bot mode. For now, I like the "axle" bits lying over the yellow "springs/ shocks" as it makes it look that much more complex and intricate. Simplifies transformation as well. What about you guys?

Smash is a great new edition to the Troublemaker lineup so far. Anyone care to guess how far off the third release will be? I personally think it will be DS-05 Landslip - as per Smash's instructions. Would be nice to get one more in before Christmas. Really looking forward to the release of giant-sized Giant Axe & Compresor
