this. this has always bothered me. but at the end of the day i know it's just a toy/comicbook/cartoon and nuances like this are best ignored/laughed at/no sense of losing shi1t at. but mad respect to those who take matters like this to heart.

I'd like if itd be both. Take the tyrest idea, and have magnus spread his justice by creating a magnus troop. Other people who also act like him in a duplicate armor, in order to spread the legend like Tyrese. Just have magnus the founder of the idea. It works as a distraction tactic, with decepticons unsure which is which, with magnus heading the order. That way minimus ambus and magnus are both existing in one universe, and not magnus dead

 

I noticed the shoulder smoke stacks had to be removed (assuming you can keep them on in the first place, I think some people may have glued those which would be an issue), is there something else that looks like it is disassembled to you? Nothing else stood out to me.

I don't know which date is correct, but The Chosen Prime has it listed for this November.

I saw those, but just assumed they were folded away like for alt mode. I'll have to go grab mine and see if that would work I guess.

 

I did just that and my toy was a partformer. There was a script to the '86 movie that Prime was to power up with the trailer armor instead of having a UM character. They adopted that later on for power masters but UM was originally supposed to be Prime in armor before they changed it to kill off Prime.

That is the same image I had in my head as well. I love that shot.

I mean the cartoon never explicitly stated that he wasn't a white Optimus wearing armor. I agree that it's likely they wrote the character as an all in one integrated transformation but you know that if they ever came up with an idea for an episode where he took off his armor, they would have just gone ahead and done it even though previous scenes (especially when he was being reassembled on Junk) made it appear he was a single unarmored bot. So yeah, I don't think you can conclusively say that the cartoon character wasn't wearing armor.

 

It all started with the cartoon for me in the 80s, the comics were not big over here and I just started with them.
UM was also 1 of my first bots back then, so even tough the MFT version is perfect for me, I would like a classic styled UM with a white cab just for old time sake.
It is al personal of what we would like to see and for me it is a smaller bot with battle armor.

 

Is the G1 UM an all-in-one or armor bot? Although majority of the time it depends on what medium you are exposed to first, others are more pick and choose. To me, I always regard the G1 UM as an armor bot and this is coming from a guy who saw the cartoon first. I always view the cartoon as the main source and the toy as the supplementary to the cartoon. Both the toy and cartoon back then are part of the G1 UMagnus character. Also, with the fact that UM cab looks like Prime, this just reinforced my childhood to accept he's armor bot even more. I can understand the complaint or the rejection if the G1 UM toy never had the white robot cab and then some 3Ps just decided to be more creative by give him an armor bot mode. This example can also be extended out to IDW MTMTE UM where we see some disagreements among fans in regard to the existing of M.Ambus especially your truly who despise the concept of a little dude piloting a mech suit...and that UM is only a title name.

With that being said, MS had already released an all-in-one bot earlier to fans who want such need. Now they are just trying to cater to the armor UM fans. I think it's a win-win.

No he was not an all in armor bot as we all know but the look of the all in bot is perfect for display to me.
I just want a Magnus like I had as a kid in a modern twist and MS + NA are giving it now.
That is the real Magnus for me
I never cared for the comics, I stopped al comic reading when they started with alternative universes, too many cross overs, I have not read 1 comic since the 90's beside Rising stars.

 

If you are into what MS/NA are giving you now, I hope you realize I support a white Magnus robot cab wearing an armor trailer like the G1 toy. I would say I'm a die-hard Armor UMagnus fans more than most UM transfans. I was never a fan of an all-in-one transformation like MP22/MF UM2.0/MS UM 1.0.

For my sake/new comer to the mold, I am hoping for a giftset which include both the trailer and the cab. Somehow, I just have the urge MS could be doing that....

 

Don't mind the trailer being a partsformer or an add-on armor. What I don't like is the extra canons. Want a G1 looking UM that can transform into his alt mode without having to reach for the stored canons. If it was a second canon, head, hands etc I wouldn't mind but parts essential for the transformation must be part of the look of the figure for me.

 

I'm with you on this. Surely they will...right?
