Question, is it just me or does it feel like MFT has stagnated with their articulation? Granted it is typically the lower price point figure, but I feel that they are falling behind in some simple areas like interchangeable hands, double jointed knees and elbows. This is mostly from my experience with the headmasters but I also have their triple changers and the feeling is about the same. Great sculpt and presence, but just stagnant and falling behind on articulation.

Asked and answered right there. For the price point I think MFT offers a great value. While I enjoy NA and MS releases I still feel like they are definitely "premium price" for this scale - I honestly don't use most of the accessories anyway (extra hands etc.). They are just in different classes, and while NA and MS have continued to push the engineering and design at this scale, MFT has kept with their formula of a solid, no-frills bot at a price that isn't almost into Masterpiece territory.

Sorta. For the price point, sure the articulation is fine. But the question is, do you feel like it is falling behind? I would rather pay closer to the $40 or $50 price range for more range in my figure. I love the accessories and often find myself using them, but for most bots, just some swappable hands would be nice. After getting my Mindwipe in, my first thought was some open hands would have been perfect for him. I don't need the full run of butterfly joints, confused dog ball peg set up or an ab crunch, but seeing some growth would be nice. I feel Astrotrain is behind the curve even though he is a triple changer and I fear for Tracks that they have coming, plus the hood on him is messed up with that huge gap. I am surprised they decided that was good enough. Anyway, I am not bashing them, I love their figures, I just do not feel they are growing in design implementation.

I don't really agree. Going off the latest releases that I have (MFT Midewipe, Highbrow, Rodimus, and Astrotrain), all of them have better than average articulation. Average being what Hasbro puts out. Noteable articulation on those 4 include:
-90 degrees or more in the elbows.
-90 degrees or more in the knees.
    -Waist swivel
    -Ankle pivot

Interchangeable hands are not articulation, just accessories. I don't need my Transformers to be able to do Spiderman poses.

Anyone notice that tank tech's pilot isn't a Dianaut? I think that's a repaint of their upcoming astronaut figure.

Well this is the joy of having lots of choices I suppose. I still loathe paying $40-50 dollars for Legends figures, even though they are mostly awesome. But I just dumped a shameful amount of money to get Magic Square Soundwaves and tapes. Believe me, I get it and I get the appeal.

I'm not sure if MFT is falling behind per-se - they are targeting a smaller price point so that just means sacrifices need to be made. I don't have Mindwipe yet in hand, but I do have all of the other headmasters and every single time I pick one up I feel like "yeah, this is SO worth the money I spent" whereas MS and NA make me feel like "ugh, I wish I didn't have to spend that much but yeah, it's pretty great." I think Astrotrain is probably one of their best releases yet, IMHO.

Tracks, it's hard to know where that will land because we haven't seen any updates in a long time. Maybe they will make some refinements still. It was teased a long time ago, and the Legends world has moved so fast and evolved so quickly maybe they are re-evaluating it.

I have all of those but Rodimus and I would say they are 100% average or less with hasbro. I have the hasbro version of all of these and the range of motion is better in almost all instances. And yes I realize interchangeable hands are accessories, but they provide wrist swivel which is a form of articulation and differently posed hands provides suspension of belief in a figures ability to articulate hands. I am not looking for Spiderman poses but I feel their Chromedome is a superior figure because of the range of motion he has. He is just as simple as the rest of the lot and makes me look at the rest in a ho hum mind set.

I agree with you on the value of the figure and targeting with price point and I do love Astrotrain. They are doing what almost every company struggles with and that is hitting all 3 modes accurately. That is why I like MS over NA. I am very happy with my purchases, I guess I fear they may fall by the way side if they don't step it up a little. MS is hitting a $35 price point on their Stunticon cars and they will be more articulated than these. That $10 is totally worth it and I would pay more for MFT for that ability because their sculpt work is so clean and nice. I don't want them to fall in to the Iron Factory rut where every release feels like the same bot with the same issues that never get any better. There are a lot of companies like that out there.

PS, if anyone is selling a Wierdwolf, I am buying.

I wouldn’t trust their plastic with MST’s complexity

The only time when I was disappointed with MF is with the Dinobot Sludge where the arm had too left arms.

    Wich plastic ?
If they use what they use on the Blaster and Hardhead it should be fine.
Between certain bots I have noticed they use a different plastic.
Hound and Blaster were not that long ago released after each other but feel different from each other.

That is QC and sucks big time.
Over half of my collection is MFT, I like them and most of my collection will stay that way but they are 'display' bots for me.
Great for display and change the pose of them but if you mess around with them a lot, they will get floppy.
I trust MST Soundwave to hold up longer over time if I would mess around with them on a daily basis then most of the MFT.
So for most of the G1 collection it will stay MFT and I will double dip with certain figures for messing around with MST.

Yeah, I was more disappointed Show Z wouldn't help me but other than that I really enjoy MFT's offerings. Good product at an affordable price.

The articulation on a typical Vecma/MFT is "fine", nothing spectacular but usually slightly better than a Hasbro Legend class toy.
I can see why someone would target Hardhead and Chromedome as an articulation downgrade though.

I didn't have any huge issue with Mindwipe or Astrotrain as they are, they do the job. I don't think i've ever taken hands of the sprue on a toy ever - unless a company has done something stupid like put closed fists on a figure as the default. The exception to that was 2005 style Microman where I sometimes used them - but those were figures not Transformers. If a figure is a super hero a few more usable joints is nice to have, but I play with my Miraculous figures all the time and they have very middling Articulation. So as with MFT that doesn't stop me having fun with them - sometimes to many joints can look unsightly, or even have minimal functional effect (magic square soundwave for example is better jointed than the Hot Soldiers one, but how his joints are cut means he's doesn't especially pose a whole lot better over all (for example he can't kneel).

I only sometimes misse the back and forth toe movement missing from many recent Hasbro figures too.

Nothing more beyond the first set. In fact I haven't even seen that silhouette. Looks like you are on the leading edge already.

Hehe, that silhouette comes from the first images a loooooonnng time ago, in fact was the thing that first take my interest on this set, but as you mention, nothing more for now except maybe the VP02, VP03 and the rumor VP04 but don't know if them would be part of the combiner, at least doesn't seems to me.
