Too late to celebrate the Anniversary.

 

Is this 35th anniversary referring to the 1986 movie?

 

Would be a bit more genuine if half these companies didn’t outright go against that by bending over backwards to satisfy China.

Then it’s probably going to be an announcement for Studio Series ‘86, right?

 

4K release of TF:TM as well perhaps? They already did a 4K master when making the 30th anniversary Blu-ray so the work is done. Can't have enough versions of that.

 

Maybe, though I seem to recall that the 30th Anniversary Blu-ray was 4K. What is interesting is that, in a featurette on that disc, we hear that the first pass at the transfer was in 6K; obviously, there’s only so much you can do to make this movie look its best, but I’d be interested in seeing that.

 

Has anyone ever noticed that some of the merchandise in Spaceballs is just Transformers artwork with the word Spaceballs label-slapped on it? The lunchbox is the 1986 “back of box” artwork with Metroplex and the coloring book is just a Transformers coloring book with Optimus Prime on the cover. Of course mega-maid shows up later in the film... I noticed it the very first time I saw it in the theater with this kid I went to school with.

 

Looks like we may have to wait over another month for more reveals.

i echo everyone saying they'll probably (officially) announce the '86 movie studio series toys, but did anyone notice how badly drawn that pony is. the mouth goes over the eye. why are the eyes so close together. the horn just awkwardly clips through the hair, and it appears paper-flat. what in gods name is that.

 

They're defo revealing ss86 here. Maybe we'll finally get more bayverse ss reveals this year too.

 

It’s very stylised, yeah. I’d hope that’s not the artstyle of a future show, it would look pretty bad. And Hasbro would have the same problem as the Peppa pig merchandise, trying to make a very 2D design into a 3D object.

 

(Looking at my 35th Anniversary cell-shaded Siege Optimus Prime and Megatron figures.), I had to double-check with a calculator when I saw this.
