The proportions on this Soundwave and Prime are so weird, not to mention they have tiny little hands.

 

What, no photo of Bumblebee decapitating Ravage by pulling his spine out at the tail? Or is that too gratuitous?

Soundwave's thighs are too thick for my liking despite being movie accurate.

 

Probably due to them having to basically take Prime and add stuff on top of his model to create Soundwave. I doubt the creators meant him to be turned into a figure.

I think foldformer ravage has more of a transformation than alot of cyberverse figures....

 

Why then, didn't Soundwave "fold" into an another shape?

Couple of things going on – Ravage is technically an accessory, so there is a little more leeway in what could be done with him. The team was determined to make it so that he fit in SW's chest, but we couldn't make him convert and what you see is the compromise. At one point the plan was to include a transformed cassette version in addition to the panther form, but the 3D file/assets for the cassette form were unavailable (also part of the reason we didn't do a full transforming version).

 

Ahh, that makes sense.

 

If you sit it on the ground, spread de legs, turn the head and pull up one arm you get a base mode. Just like a city bot!

 

That wouldn't surprise me, considering that none of the Cybertron scene-only characters have Vehicle-modes designed for them.

 

The cybertron scene was added (mostly) after test screenings. Shockwave and Soundwave are modified optimus prime models, and all the autobots are rigged off of bumblebee. The creators probably did not expect them to be turned into figures.

 

Shatter was used as well but you’re right, they’re very circumstantial designs. I have a strong feeling that if we revisit this style and story, the characters will have slight changes once we see them.

 

I've got to say, I really love this design. I know most are used to Soundwave being this tall, lanky kind of stealth surveillance guy that just happens to have a TARDIS in his chest of minions. But I love the wider hipped look, where he looks like he can be mad devious and also stores all his companions in his MC Hammer pants.

 

Ok, Soundwave looks really nice with his eyes lit up. Still doesn’t look like he transforms into anything, though.

 

Most of the pretenders transformation was folding.

 

Or the (target/power/titan/head/brain/etc)masters and the jumpstarters and throttlebots
