I have to say, I'm starting to lose some respect for tonton. Ok not sure why, but this is the second time that he's insinuated that the Kingdom BWs toys have better aspects than their MP counterparts.
 

 

You’d best stay out of the kingdom thread then because it seems the general consensus is that these beat out the MPs. I can’t be around that kind of madness.

 

Is it possible that Kingdom can do some things better then the MP? Absolutely. Are the Kingdom figures 100% better then the MP? No, That said, I do think that Kingdom definitely does some things better then the MP and vice versa. To me the Kingdom figures look like mini Masterpiece. I still think the MPs look awesome. So, the point I'm trying to make is, it's possible for MP to do things better and Kingdom can do things better.  

 

Is it though? The general consensus I mean? I haven't read it all so maybe some crazy folk are claiming this but mostly what I see are people saying Kingdom is offering very nice representations of the season 1 Beast Wars character (arguably the best yet in a mainline) and in the case of Blackarachnia at least borrowing a lot from the MPs and offering it to you at a much cheaper price. It is impressive but it only 'beats out' the MPs if your not concerned with the additional things MP offers.

I'm not selling up my MP collection and jumping on the Kingdom train because for everything Kingdom does right it's doing it on a budget. The deco, sculpt, materials, articulation, accessories etc are always going to be superior on the MPs... but your paying quite the premium for it. It's like comparing a supermarket own brand and a high end named brand... the high end brand may not be totally worth the extra you have to pay over the to the own brand... but there's no disputing it's better.

I may pick up some or all of Kingdom figures to mess about with, but I'm still committed to buying the MPs as a proper collection to proudly display.

 

Pretty much this. And so far it really only holds for Blackarachnia. The cheetor seems quite impressive to me, but it's not going to have the beautiful paint job of the mp. There's something about that shiny gold and blue that's just attractive.

I'm honestly questioning whether those who claim these to beat out the mps have every owned them, or if they're stating that based off of two figures they've never held

Hmmmm. While I’m excited for the Kingdom Beast Wars figures in general, the ones I’ve seen don’t look as good as the ones released as part of the thrilling 30 (much less MP.). Based off of what I’ve seen, I’ll likely skip Rattrap and keep my thrilling 30 version. And although I’ll likely get Cheetor he doesn’t seem quite as sharp as Rattrap or Rhinox from the thrilling 30 releases. I have the Takara Black Arachnia so I’ll wait and see how the Kingdom one looks in hand before making a choice on that one.

All that being said I Do hope they turn out to be much better in person.

I love this guy's art because of the little details he thinks of, like changing the shape of Quickstrike's feet so they'd resemble actual scorpion claws in alt mode. I love to imagine if these designs made it into a movie or a show that Quickstrike could extend his snake arm like a whip and snag people from afar.

 

I haven't been on that thread, and don't think that I will either lol.

That said, I have MP Cheetor and I can say with 100% certainty that there is NOTHING the Kingdom Cheetor does better than the MP version.

Are the back of the Kingdom cheetah's cleaned up a little better? Sure, but the overall look of the cheetah's legs on the Kingdom version have that ugly L shape, and look even worse in robot mode, which he somehow even said looked good.

And then he even said that Blackarachnia's spider legs were better on the Kingdom version, cause they didn't have the joints allow for the legs to be posed. Wtf is that?? Not to mention the ugly texturing they did on her.

It's completely inaccurate to the BWs line. So no, there's nothing that the Kingdom line does better than the MP line.

THAT said, since these toys are for the Kingdom line, it is possible that they are accurate to the appearance the characters will have in the Kingdom cartoon.... which still wouldn't make them better than the MP versions.

 

And people wonder why Hasbro stopped doing Beast wars.

 

Because people decided the mainline stuff looked inferior to Masterpieces that wouldn't exist for another twenty years?

I thought it was because Beast Machines was widely despised.

 

It's more so that there's quite a bit of complaining about BW on here.
