    Optimus Primal

Rhinox going evil in Beast Machines was the worst thing in that series.

Dinobot is named after a group of idiots.

    Cheetor
    [IMG]

    Rattrap's weird exposed brain...

Tigatron is just a repaint of Cheetor... which is a minor nit pick but I couldn't think of anything else to complain about.

Airazor is she a hawk or a falcon? Make up your mind Hasbro!

    Silverbolt
    [IMG]

Tigerhawk... is clearly a Fuzor despite never being officially listed as one.

Scorponok, how does he launch Cyberbees without losing half his pincher?

    Terrorsaur, never met Starscream...

Tarantulas... never learn his true origins.

Rampage... doesn't really live up to the hype... I mean he's suppose to be this unstoppable killing machine but they eventually do stop him...

    Ravage
    [IMG]

    Nightscream, emo hair.

Botanica does not have a toy.

Savage/Noble not really clear where the hell he came from... I mean I know he supposedly was the organic components of Megatron but why did he take on a life of his own, where the wolf mode come from? There's still a lot of unanswered questions about his origins.

The fact that Prowl never gets his tech specs depiction of extremely patient, logical and quiet.

I want to see him written similar to Data from Star Trek or Animated Prowl. I want to see him portrayed as a bad ass fighter. Surely it makes sense that someone so intelligent and logical in the middle of a war would feel compelled to be well versed in the fighting arts.

But that would contradict your complaint above

Data was never quite, in fact he had a tendency to babble a lot, and his Curiosity outweighed his logic

Though he hasn't shown up in that much media since MTMTE/LL, I think a lot of people (including Roberts himself) forget that Whirl isn't "Robot Deadpool". Even amidst the Wreckers, a team of angry misanthropes, Whirl was far and away the angriest and most misanthropic-- explained by his backstory, of course, but not necessarily excused by it. Other Autobots didn't just find him "annoying", they were actively perturbed by his presence. Sure he got some funny lines here and there, but they were saturated in bitter cynicism. Whirl is very expressly not a good person, and he kind of ends the story on the same note. He's too deeply entrenched in what he's allowed himself to become. He even points this out to Cyclonus when they're on Luna 1: "Anger's an insulator. Stops life from getting too close. If I got myself fixed, maybe the anger would leave me-- and I really would be screwed."

But with Transformers' current trend of taking characters and boiling them down to their most popular and marketable aspects, I have every reason to believe that going forward... yeah, Whirl is just going to be Robot Deadpool. I could kind of already see it in LL, though to be entirely fair everyone was steadily turning into a smartass with the exact same voice as everyone else. Whirl didn't get it quite as bad as other characters (coughRodimuscough) but there was a very real sense that he was just turning into "the wacky violent guy who gets funny lines." Maybe with a side of "Hates everything and everyone." So yeah, either Robot Deadpool or Robot Rick Sanchez, and I can't tell which is worse.

Oh fuck, Robot Rick Sanchez really hits the nail on the head.

MTMTE/LL is like every character developed backwards, starting nuanced and fleshed out, becoming one-track samey caricatures by the end.

I don't like that in the comics Tankor gets distilled to just being Fat Tankor and is like always second to Octane (not that I have a problem with Octane himself). I'm not a fan of how he's just "some guy" and I REALLY dislike how his design gets overly simplified by artists 95% of the time, particularly with the way his head looks like (which seems to be a problem for a lot of Vehicon designs in the comics). Even his body design gets simplified! I really don't like it either when he's been drawn with actual hands rather than big claws... Like I just want Tankor to get some proper love!

The first pictures looks like a generic and that second one just looked to cringey...
They can't seem to get his underbite right either, though thats probably because of different artist drawing them.

I really dislike how boring most depictions of Optimus has been in terms of what he’s like off the battlefield. He’s become this larger than life character who has to make everything some grand speech. There seem to be some effort to fix this like an episode of Cyberverse portraying him more as an introvert who’s a little socially awkward than just “Primes don’t party.”

Before the movies, while Prime is the leader of the Autobots, I could still imagine him just hanging out with the other Bots (G1, RID, UT, Animated).

I know right? It's so off that it looks like some generic bot, but it's indeed Tankor! I just find it really sad that even the ones that kinda get close to his design still look off by quite a bit.

Starscream: I hate how he’s the laughing stock coward in most incarnations and how some would considered him stupid. Arrogant? Absolutely. But the original Starscream was highly intelligent, had a courage ranking of 9, believed himself to be the handsomest of decepticons, and relied on speed rather than brute force to defeat his enemies.

My one gripe about Screamer is that he learn from his mistakes and evolve beyond ambition to be leader of the decepticons. 5A6D93D0-1E5C-4192-89B9-A19A08AC225D.jpeg

IMO, whether a character is mainstream or not doesn't matter. The same applies to many people on this website. I like Bluestreak too, and I wish someone would use his tech specs bio for reference. The idea that the reason he talks so much because of PTSD intrigues me, and I want to see it done correctly.

Yeah, I wish he got more spotlight time in g1 and actually appeared in other shows, correct me if I'm wrong but wasnt he only in g1? And with his limited time he just made unfunny jokes to laugh his head off

    Yes he has wasted potential

Every voice for Shockwave other than Corey Burton has been absolute garbage. The funny thing is that Burton never got to voice a version of Shockwave like the best incarnation of him (Marvel). Prime, FOC, and Cyberverse all go for the "deep, very little inflection" robot voice and it's awful. "Logic" does not automatically mean "no personality".

Dick Gautier will always be THE Rodimus voice.

My gripe is how we never got see rodimus grow further as a leader, because they brought Optimus back and that later incarnations didn't do it better. Honorable mentions to Energon and IDW Rodimus.

Oh dang, how could I forget Starscream?
Outside a few modern depictions, Starscream has been over exaggerated as a bumbling fool who seems to fail most of the time.
What I like about Starscream's relationship with Megatron is that sometimes the former has a point when doubting his leaders plans.
Now it seems he isn't even qualify to be second in command, that role has been taken by Shockwave mostly.

Oh, yes. You really hit the nail on the head with this one. Honestly, it would have been nice to see a Rodimus that feels a bit more confident in his own skills after Burden Hardest to Bear.

The Marvel UK future timeline stuff is basically the closest we ever get. Problem is on that end Furman basically skips to Rodimus Prime being fairly badass and confident without taking the time to get him there.

His two lines in the Bumblebee movie were pretty perfectly delivered, though. I agree, him being this complete monotone is boring as hell. His TFA voice was pitch-perfect.

I wish we'd get another Armada-style Starscream where his treachery isn't based entirely on ego or self-serving.
