So New Age and Magic Square are literally just trying to push each other off the stage at this point, huh?

They seriously announced these figures within like an hour of each other: Magic Square MS-B31 Not Ultra Magnus

And this is the first we've seen of New Age's Optimus mold, isn't it?? Looks very MP44-ish!

 

Okay, SERIOUSLY?!  

But what I'm paying attention to is....are we seeing New Age's Optimus Prime?

Edit: Aaaaand, they're going with the whole fake chest thing. Great. Checked out immediately.

 

If it can carry NA cars in alt mode and we get a Delta Magnus version I'm in.
But I'd rather have had Lambo molds or Shockwave.

Seriously, I’m very interested in NA’s OP mold.

 

I'm gonna get both NA and MS, why not, the price is usually decent and less space. Kind of thinking of just collecting legends scale now.

 

They don't get a pass because, It's legends scale? Is a fake chest partsforming ( I guess there could be lots of jokes here).

 

So Newage has never done an Optimus Prime mold before?

 

So do they just have a bunch of designs ready, and they release whenever the competition does? Lol!

I'm finding it hard to want this though. Alt mode is sort of a mess. MS Prime's cab was already chunkier in the back than I would have liked, and this is worse. The bottom of the trailer is way too thick also. Prime's head may be scaled a little better than the MS version but that never bothered me. No real problems with bot mode, but MS was fine too.

All in all I'd much rather see more NA car bots.

 

I’m in for this but I’m getting pretty salty about NA jumping around like this. All S1 cons have been released/announced except for two...Give us Shockwave and Devastator damn it!

 

Fake chest? Who cares? The translated release says that the white cab version will be able to open Magnus’s chest and the white cab chest to get to the matrix. Brilliant! Y’all somehow have a problem with that?   If they need to do it to get Mp-44 chest windows and a working chest chamber I’m both modes... He’ll yeah I’m excited! And working cab doors to boot? Wowzers. Can’t wait. 11 cm, same as MS Optimus? Straight up See you later tiny head MS Optimus!

 

Seven hells, it really is a mini MP-44.

I was hoping NA would make a more G1 accurate OP, but go with a sleek MP-44 look rather than the TE-01 look. The cab looks decent, with a DX9 Dutch level trailer bed. I've been trying to come up with an MP OP design muself, and have been thinking of having the bot mode windows come from somewhere else; interesting that they chose to bring them from the bumper. Opening windows is a nice touch. I like that the inner forearms are what become the side of the cab, as I've thought of using the TE-01 method with a secondary side hing above the elbow (something that would be perfect for a CHUG scaled OP).

Getting tired of this competition nonsense.
Every company just needs to do its own thing and do the characters people are waiting for instead of aping each other.

It looks like they’ve actually the right size and chunkiness for Magnus too...love it!

 

So... I'm not normally interested in Legends-class figures, but if that's the only way I can get more Ultra Magnusses (Magni? Magnees?) then I might have to keep an eye on this. Refreshing to finally see another one that's not just trying to under-size the official MP, too - I already have that, and it's far more awesome than any Legends-class could hope to be.

 

Ugh.. decent looking Prime but it’s not what my shelf needs to fill in the gaps. No Hound, Mirage, Sunstreaker, Tracks, Warpath, Powerglide?

this Prime also looks like an evolution of Dutch, similar to how Scaramanga is a better dx9. In which case, give me those Predacons already.

I’m just bummed I have to wait three months or whatever for the next new thing.

 

I hope NA alters the front hip flap.
