My feelings exactly! 3p companies generally outdo what Hasbro make with their MPM line... I wish the official toys were more in par with what 3P make for default, in other words, make real masterpieces!

The right shoulder on mine is still pretty tight, left one is insanely loose and was that way out of the box

Shows just how arbitrary that title is and how hilarious it is that people take it so seriously.

Is this figure screwed or pinned together? Any way to open him up to rectify the loose shoulders?

    UGH what do I say..
I regret buying this. For a long time Takara has been a big disappointment. Cutting corners like good tolerance in joints, absolute crap paint apps, cheap materials and just overall lazy design.

When 4th party companies are doing it better, you should be ashamed. SURE. I get it Takara engineers did do the leg work but it seemed the skipped the QA phase. Usually in project work if you do not get a STAMP of go from QA it goes back to redesign. So 4th parties of course get a head start...mmm i think there may be an opportunity for a partnership here. Whatever....im going to wait for a 4th party to purchase and im either going to sell this junk at a loss or give it to a kid to finish the toy off.

    On to my review:
    1. Mold 3.5/5 ...DAM EPIC. The best iteration of Movie StarScream yet. What it does right . The whole chest design is done right. The problem with the SS and previous MPM, which used the original mold from the main movie line is that they never got the chest right. The chest had that cockpit glass buried into the chest and this is done right.
The boosters on the back is great too. I dont mind the ass-pate at the back so much hopefully 4th party fixes this
    2. Paint App.1.5/5. Terrible
How do you sell a premium adult collector toy and half-ass paint it. Come on ...thats the cheapest part of the whole development process. If a 4th party can do it and sell it for a 3rd of the cost um so can you use since takara uses the same factories. From a distance it looks ok ...get any closer and you are asking if this is a prototype
    3. Posing. 1/5. Ok I should give more points to this considering Trans-Movie toys are messed up designs to begin with. BUT! with miniaturization technology at its best really they could have done better with more hindges to at least allow some waist swivel or even a #*!@ing ab crunch!!! . COME ON! even the head motion is stationary. Move the arms, the whole chest assembly falls apart. Its awful. I HATE IT!
    4. Overall build quality. 2/5. Its not bad in terms of plastic rigidness but its loosey goosey all over the place. It cant stand without you trying to building a balanced rock sculpture. TERRIBLE !!! I have a non standing Statue...cant pose it, cant stand. Just pose it on its back with megatrons foot on him. Weak joints at the ankle, weak joints at the knees where they just hang loosely. Weak chest connectors ugh

Overall Thoughts. While the mold itself lends itself to fairly accurate lineart and that is what we all look for in our mecha designs the application is the other part that makes a toy mediocre to something of a collectors piece. To call this a collectors piece and charge something like $150 to $200 dollars for it is shameful lack of self awareness and disrespectful for your own craft.

Not Recommended. Wait for the 4th party to do it justice...
Followup: So far the best iteration is still the MPM v1..If that mold got a paint upgrade and some new mold changes that would be the clear winner

fyi the ankles have like 3 different pegs that you need to click to fully lock the ankles in place. in fact, once you do that, he has NO ankle articulation aside from the side rotation. i initially thought his ankles were weak af too but once it was all clipped in, he’s pretty solid. not to say he doesn’t have problems though, but he actually grew on me from “meh” before getting him, to something that’s pretty neat in his own weird way.

That's one of the best videos showing how to complain about mistransforming a figure.

    Well done!
