Funny, isn't it. It's reminiscent of comments like "Truly incomprehensible that this $10 toy isn't perfect. Wtf hasbro" in regards to the Core class.

Slammed for "expecting too much" from a $10, and now getting the same about a $20 figure. There's a pattern forming here...

The different weapon doesn't bother me. Even the mini-MP-like WFC figures of G1 characters tend to have missing/different weapons than the original toys. I am more bothered by the odd baby blue used that makes it look like a toy for a much younger audience, as well as the lack of gold paint apps that would have really made the guy shine.

Yes, here we go again with some people expressing opinions. And here we go again with some other people playing the man instead of playing the ball.

Nice reference with a twist :lol  Right now my plan is to keep the Generations trio from Thrilling 30 and add the rest of the cast that are released in Kingdom, they will look fantastic together. Buuuut if any of the updates for those totally blow me away I might have to double dip. I was actually trying to track down the original BW Inferno but I can't find him for a decent price, if I do I am adding him to my collection and display as well
Thank you for the pic adding Kingdom Rattrap as well! I really like him but he is too small compared to the rest for my taste, I might pick him up just because he looks fun, but he won't be displayed with the other Kingdom ones. And you might be on the right track, they might just want to sell "pocket sized" representation of different characters with complete disregard of scale, it will be very interesting to see the rest of the Core figures.

The fact of the matter remains that a lot of your criticisms stem from the fact that these figures aren't MP-lite, whereas it's pretty clear that that wasn't the primary intent of the design team. If you want 100% show accurate, that's what the MPs are for. The designers obviously saw no point in "competing" with themselves, knowing that budget constraints wouldn't let the figures stack up. So they've gone in their own direction, and put their "realistic" spin on the lineup.

It's fair to criticize for when they don't live up to their own design intent. But criticizing for not following a completely disparate design standard is fruitless. You're just setting yourself up for a downward spiral of disappointment, and it's not healthy.

    Man, Cheetor's looking ultra-gear.

Definite improvement over the Universe toy, I'm probably gonna have to pick this one up too... dammit, since I'm already sold on Rattrap and BA, I fear for my wallet when I see the others.

I've already determined that next year is going to be year I lay my wallet to rest with all the purchases I will be making. My poor other collections are going to have to sit on a back burner for a while.

Transformation is pretty show accurate which is freaking awesome. It's gonna be a lot of fun quickly converting him with flare.

I'm noticing there's some freedom in the transformation too that could fix some peoples problems with his proportions.
Leaving some of the forelegs from Cheetah mode visible from the front can make him look more V shaped in his robot mode torso, and perhaps his bot legs look better rotated the other way, you lose the blue and I don't think the feet can rotate though so they may have to be removed via the pins and swapped around. I'm still hoping the lower hind cheetah legs can go inside his bot mode shins more flush.

Great accurate face sculpt, the tiny maximal insignia is really appreciated. If this gets a more premium repaint please elongate it so it's stretched and fills out his crest. The light blue looks good to me and looks more like the silver/blue from the show than a darker blue from the original toy would in my opinion.

@Avispanator I hope you find Inferno, he used to be very accessible in my experience. 10th Anniversary Tarantulas might be decent in this lineup as well.

Looks okay for a $10 figure. Not really that impressive tbh.

Only because Cheetor here has to look good and keep articulation fun in both a robot and an animal mode while people like WFC Optimus are the 50th attempt at the same G1-inspired transformation or those like Bumblebee and Ironhide where they only managed it thanks to awful vehicle modes with large parts that get removed for the sake of transformation into robot mode or, in Ironhide's case, a mess of a vehicle mode that is blatantly either a robot doing yoga or "robot doing yoga with a cover hiding his robot parts". Look at Siege Soundwave and SIege Megatron's vehicle modes and it's clear all BW figures here are dealing with much more hard tasks in their design proccess.

And even then, Cheetor STILL kicks the hell out of the sculpt in stuff like Impactor and Earthrise Starscream when it comes to aesthetics, so it's not like he is the worst thing ever made.

Sure, but there’s something to be said for consistency. They spent two parts of a trilogy using a consistent placement of 5 mm ports and including pegs for effect parts.

To just suddenly remove these features is a bizarre choice, whether you like them or not. It really makes the figures feel like they aren’t part of the same line.
