Found a cheap(ish) TRU MP-9 to grab because I wanted some of the accessories. The shoulder fell off in the box so I was thinking of getting a replacement shoulder part on eBay. Anyone have any experience with that? Easy fix?

 

Just keep track of the screws and where they go, and the same with the parts... It's not difficult. Just keep an eye out

 

Personally, if someone asked me which one is better, Mp-09 or Mp-28, then I\'d say Mp-09.
Not only does it transform into Hot Rods alt mode, but it also gives you the trailer for when he is in the rodimus prime mode.
when you think about it, it\'s two toys for the price of one.
By detatching the black shell pieces on the legs and separating the rifle, the toy becomes Hot Rod.
By attaching the black shell pieces on the legs and connecting the two guns together into a rifle, the toy becomes Hot Rod.
the Mp-28 looks ridiculous with its flat chest and misproportioned legs, and, as far as I\'m aware, Mp-28 doesn\'t come with a trailer or ability to become Rodimus prime.
I believe that a little while back, I heard the Mp-09 referred to as Hot Rodimus.
If you think that the scale would be off with Mp-10, then leave it in Rodimus Prime mode, better two primes than one.
Don\'t forget, Mp-09 was made to scale with Mp-01.
If you want to have it in Hot Rod mode but you think it scales badly with Mp-10, (Or Mp-44), then either leave it in prime mode, If you really want to have it in Hot Rod mode, then I\'d buy yourself a third party Optimus Prime, I\'d recommend toyworld primorion.

Is there a consensus of the reissue fixed the majority of the issues from the original?

 

Still has the janky elbows from the Hasbro release. No clue if anybody's had any of the windshield breakage problems that started cropping up with the TakaraTomy "2.0" release.

All the major tolerance issues with the original release seem to be fixed, however. Everything pegs together more securely, hands hold the guns well, and no issues with the springs in the ankles.

Again, this latest release introduces a new "issue" of making him "bare-assed", for whatever reason, casting the back of his pelvis and rear skirts in orange, instead of red.

 

That about sums it up... it's not a bad figure, but could use an updated head sculpt, bigger hands, original elbows, and the correct colored ass.

He won't break, but he's just kind of "meh". I bought one this year because I finally found one where the price was right, he was complete, and he was the final reissue from China, but he absolutely shows his age. I'm one of those "MP-10 is the best MP Optimus" Types, and even I have some problems with how dated this MP is. Mine has a wrist that struggles to stay shut when holding items, the backpack is a bear to keep tabbed down, the transformation is intense, the black on his legs legs don't tab together the best, the elbows and ass are just glaringly bad, and the face is bad enough you wouldn't even expect to see it on a MS release in 2021. Until DX9 reissues he's the only Rodimus we got though. Even then, if you're a stickler for toon accuracy this is it. Just try to be careful what you pay. It took me a year to find a cheap MP-09, but it would've been horribly disappointing if I'd actually paid what he goes for on FeeBay. I'm sure you're well aware of the reissue differences, but just in case, here's what the box looks like on the version you'll want if you dont want it to randomly implode.

I really like the toon Design and the scale. unfortunately unless Fanstoys makes a Toon accurate Rodimus, which seems unlikely, this is it.

I mean, if you cant wait, I guess it's a good price. I think MP-21G is the best Bumblebee ever made, and paid 300 bucks for a G2 FT Scoria. Because G2. If you love it, then the only bad price is the one that you can't afford. I just meant that, objectively, I have noticed MP-09 can be had for lower prices if you camp him out . I think mine was just under 200 shipped. I'd definitely maybe check FeeBay, and see if any sellers are open to OBO. I cant imagine the ones still sitting on the 2018 reissue of MP-09 are blowing them out these days.

 

I bought mine in 2018, transformed him once and have left him in convoy alt mode since. I didn’t have any crazy issues when I transformed him, so I’m assuming that means he’s all good. I’m not really a fan of his bot mode, but his vehicle mode is just perfection.

 

The dx9 is way too stylized to fit into the aesthetic. In my opinion... But a good figure
