Tencent nears deal to buy Leyou Technologies. An agreement can be expected very soon:

Negotiations are in an advanced stage and an agreement could be announced as soon as this week, according to the people. Talks could still be delayed or fall apart and details including offer price and timeline have not been finalized, the people said. Representatives for Leyou and Tencent didn’t immediately respond to requests for comment.

I really hope that this is a true MMO with a style of Destiny, but having an actual living world, and none of that Battle Royale stuff unless they have something new to bring to the table.

 

The next event upcoming will be the Game Awards with Geoff hosting. He's an amazing host and knowing the game awards, we most likely will see some big games revealed. Gamescom isn't E3. The Game Awards have been getting bigger and bigger each year. If any place to be revealed it will be there. Unless Certain Affinity simply wants to just ninja drop a reveal trailer like Nintendo has been doing this year.

 

I think 2021 is when all will be revealed

 

The game may not be an MMO but we will see similarities to an MMO style approach. Knowing the kind of games Leyou Technologies decides to back, most of their games are massive scale. We know Warframe is of that frame of genre and is still leading as the top 10 games on Steam as just an example. So who is to say Transformers won't be their next big title for years to come. We'll just have to wait and see. I personally believe after all the information given to us, it will seem like a Destiny style approach with NPCs to talk to, Game modes and places to roam in an Open World-like environments, doing quest lines but also retaining those modes that fans love from the previous games with a much bigger playing field.

 

I though really wish for Cyberpunk type world where it feels alive, like destroying a Decepticon Scout ship should effect the world by having a large Decepticon presence in the last known location of the scout ship, having a dynamic world like this would for sure satisfy my need for a Transformers game I've been waiting for a very long time now.

I don’t see this as a bad sign at all. The only job listing that is for sure related to Transformers is the Senior Mission Designer.

The Lead Character job listing on their website right now includes the following: “...a variety of assets, from clothing and creatures to weapons and vehicles.” This is probably for Halo: Infinite. If it happened to be for Transformers, assume it’s for post launch content/characters.

Character Artist job listings for Transformers would include terminology like “robots”. Not “creatures”.

Yet again might I remind you and anybody who feels entitled to information, we aren’t supposed to know about the game’s existence. A public announcement in the West still has to be made. But recent leaked information proves the game will continue forward.

 

I just now saw that Tencent will be attending the Tokyo game show. Could it be possible for the game to be announced?

A possibility for sure but take it with a grain of salt.

 

Tencent has invested in a lot of different companies, so they could be there for any # of reasons. I doubt they will reveal the transformers game at TGS. I would say the only real possibility of a reveal would be the game awards in December or more likely whatever big game conference/entertainment expo happens in China in the winter.

 

I was actually just talking about this the other day in the community discord. Like Bee said, take it with a grain of salt. To put things into more context Tencent acquired Leyou after the schedule was posted for TGS 2020. So the announcements for the games they wanted to showcase were probably already made in advance. So we most-likely won't be seeing the new TF game showcased at this event. If anything it would be a western showcase event. My predictions or thoughts are at the Game Awards or further down the line. My predicted time frame is up to spring 2021 when the team decides to announce the game. Keep in mind they are still hiring employees as well. I noticed the director position has 5 applicants and who knows how many more from direct sources instead of online for that position and more. So there is a lot of unknowns and we will have to wait, speculate and see what will happen next or at least until we get some good leaked information.

Sorry no news yet. We've seen a lot of new hires or posts for hire lately. Especially for artists. I believe Certain Affinity is just in another hiring phase right now trying to build up their company staff before they go strong. Which isn't anything bad at all. I was talking in the Transformers Online Community Discord earlier today with others saying, 'I would rather see a game that is polished and refined as much as possible before any announcements are made.' Certain Affinity shouldn't need to rush especially with everything going on. They have been in development for 3 years now (Started 2017 October). So we'll see what happens going forward. Hopefully we find some new information in November with all of the new console launches. I think sometime after that Certain Affinity is going to want to shine since primarily Transformers games have been geared towards consoles anyway. So stay tuned in  

 

Three years? That's honestly very surprising in the gaming industry. Typically at the minimum they either announced that a game is being for sure in development with like a logo or teaser, or it gets leaked and they confirm it. Either way still kind of surprising to see it stay this hush hush. I honestly imagine they will start releasing teasers for it, especially if people keep pestering them about it.
