Yeah, but I want yellow not gold. The dx9 war in pocket dinobots are great looking for toon accurate but nobody's bothered to upsize them to MP.

That doesn't really tell me much, lol. Deluxe and Voyager figures were larger back in the old days, LOL. A voyager in RotF then was what seemed to be a normal leader sized figure in height from DotM forward, and a Deluxe the size of the revamped Voyager class figures (this, coupled with the rising costs and hollowed parts was why I quite mainline stuff, aside from the constant revamping of the same characters over and over for each and every line). Now, if those are back to being bigger again, and they look nice, they may make for nicer stand-in's with the MP's, MAYBE.

Mainline Deluxes are only a little taller than MP-45. Believe me, you won't want to use a Studio Series Jazz as a stand-in for a MP, licensed Porsche or not.

They're similar in size to what they were back in the BW/RiD days. Not as big as Unicron trilogy and movie 1/2 figures.
They wouldn't work as MP stand-ins.

In regards to Raiden, I admittedly have 0 connection to him. I didn’t even know about his existence until a few years ago. However, trains (and boats) are grossly underrepresented in Transformers, so I’m actually really excited about that project. And yes, depending on how it’s done, I’m looking forward to picking it up.

Agreed, also had no idea who he was. First combiner in the MP line shoulda been Devvy imho, but there ya go.

If he's a bigger deal in Japan and fits the bill for a load of train expos over there, I can see the business sense in it, if not the connection to the character for western markets.

There's only one train-former I'm personally interested in and FansToys are due soon at the station ...

Unless Porsche would be okay with a heavily chibified version of one of their cars that most people don't recognise as a Porsche, while a car that is immediately recognisable as a Porsche is problematic. In that case Cliffjumper coming before Jazz (if at all) would make sense.

I think TT could do an unlicensed, chibi'd Cliffjumper all day long and there's be absolutely no issues with it. If they're putting Porsche on the box, though, I don't know what the difference would be to them. There could be a difference with the Martini livery, I suppose. If Porsche came on board, but TT had work to do to get around the Martini thing...but I would think they'd have a plan for that if.when Porsche ever actually came around. That seems like the easy part. I don't even know that it would be an issue to begin with, but it is a much more PC world we live in.

Given that they got the Volkswagen license for MP-45, I think it’s possibly not enough to chibi things these days. It may be, and they just wanted to get the license... but these laws can evolve, and if Porsche is litigious (and I believe they are), even chibi might be too close, and also burn any bridge that could be built in future.

I think the difference with Bumblebee is even chibified he's still obviously recognizable, not to mention TT already has the relationship. Cliffjumper, unless you know what he is supposed to be, most people would have no idea.

I don’t think the majority of us knew or cared what CJ was when we were kids. In many cases even as adults. It’s pretty difficult to see Cliffjumper when you look at the real world vehicle he’s chibi’d from. It’s almost a made up vehicle. Even the spoiler is different. To be honest I would be pretty bummed if TT released him as a real world car but I’m sure that’s what we will get. I don’t see them breaking tradition at this point in the line to make a Carbot that isn’t licensed. I just don’t know if they will ever make him anyway so it’s moot. If he’s ever made, half of us will be happy and they other half won’t. Haha

And I'm over here thinking, I see all the telltale features that mark him as a 924 Turbo plain as day...

I've often thought the problem is when people think of Porsche, they picture a 911. Even Porsches that aren't 911s, like Dead End's 928 or Nightbeat's 959, kind of passingly resemble a 911 with those iconic round headlights. And even today's Porsches follow this basic design marker. But the 924 and 944, with their flip-up headlights, mess with the whole unified theme of Porsche and end up not "looking like a Porsche" because of it.

It would be very weird if the mystery MP didn’t have a waist joint.

    And yea that’s a clue

That's also a possible strike against Cliffjumper ever happening.

We know from Sunstreaker that although TT wanted the toy/cartoon model car, Lamborghini insisted on it being the actual existing car. The result was that TT designed it and packaged it as the official car, but enabled a subtransformation to get the cartoon/toy car.

The same would have to apply to Cliffjumper. If they manage to get the license from Porsche then Porsche will likely insist on it being the accurate, real car(*). But TT will want to go for the chibified version, because that was the cartoon and the original toy. The difference are such that it would be very difficult to achieve both (real and chibi) through a subtransformation like they did with Sunstreaker. Especially considering the small size of the vehicle/robot.

(* that is, unless, as I posted earlier, they would be alright with TT using it (under unmentioned license) when it's chibified, exactly because almost no one will recognise it as a Porsche so they won't be easily associated with it, but still will get the license money.)

Here we go again!....off down the rabbit hole...

Who have FT released without waist swivel, and had people complain? Who is continually pictured twisted at the waist? Whose transformation absolutely flips their legs around to line up to the torso, or vice versa?

If it's the latter, then Jazz looks less likely. Even though we concluded it's Jazz.
