And is available *again* via TT if I'm not mistaken.

My comment was not for the time frame. It was about making 1 purchase vs 6 over a period of time.

Still not as annoying as purchasing 8 (well, 9 now) for SS Devastator.

People on these boards are consistently pretty forgetful.

Yep. And the same people won’t order it because of the price and then bitch later when it sells out and skyrockets again. However, in this case, I don’t see any stores in the US offering a preorder for the TT version, yet.

A little inconvenient, but they were in pairs. You just need to pay attention and do the orders when they pop up..

A combiner being sold in parts describes all of CW/PotP.

Neptune was the exception, not the rule.

The Seacons were actually the exception. All the other Takara Tomy Combiners were sold in box sets.

I'm comparing them specifically to CW/PotP because those were Hasbro's offerings, and thus more on par with how many of us obtained the other combiners.

That was before Selects, though. Previous combiners were all Unite Warriors and that line is sadly dead.

During CW when TakaraTomy released under the Unite Warriors banner, yes. TT released both the Terrorcons (PP 21-25) and Dinobots (PP 11-15) during PotP as individual releases.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: The Seacons were the easiest individually sold combiners for me to complete. Heck, I still never officially completed Defensor. PotP Inferno took his place. These guys though... I preordered them, paid for them six months later, and got every single one including the dupe I wanted.

It got complicated in Prime Trilogy.

    Takara UW = Box sets
Hasbro G2 redeco = Box sets
POTP = Separate for Takara and Hasbro, although Takara released all members of the Dinobots and Terrorcons in single waves.
    Titan class = Box sets

Seacon timing was also particularly bad with covid first hitting, so I don't blame people for holding off on toy purchases around then either.

I purchased mine without pre-orders from Asian market release. Granted 4 of the 6 took like 3 months to deliver due to being stuck in shipping limbo thanks to the pandemic.

But that doesn't mean they were "hard to get." It just means people chose not to get them.

As with last time this topic came up it's also worth remembering why the Seacons were released individually; the actual target market. In Masterforce the Seacons were a legion of drones controlled by Turtler, thus releasing them individually allowed people to pre-order however many multiples they wanted of the limb-bots. A lot of Western fans might have only wanted the one set for Piranacon, but considering we were simply getting them as imports we wouldn't have factored into Takara's decision on how to release them.

The best argument I can make is that many people came into or back to collecting in the last few months and missed the pre-order window. Aren't able to do a good comparison.

That said, I didn't really jump back into collecting until February (got my feet wet in January), and I think the pre-orders were all over by then. I still managed to get a set from HP.

It is ironic that the OG G1 release/re-released was supposedly a warehouse warmer. Now, it's like the hottest we missed it item.

Yeah, but the same could be said about ANY past release.

Kinda sorta. I'm seeing a lot of the WFC figures creep up in price, but I had little trouble getting all the figures, including exclusives, at MSRP or less through the end of March with the exceptions of Skywarp and Greenlight. Had I not pounced on the fishbots in a very small reopen window for the last couple figures, I would have been stuck with the price gougers on eBay. So while I agree that there was nothing unusual about the Seacon release in terms of availability, I can see how it might seem a bit different for those who just missed them (and the same can be said of Skywarp and Greenlight).

Trying to start rearranging stuff around here and came across the Seacon boxes...in all their triple packaged glory: GS box, sleeve, and SIOC box.

Siege Nemesis Prime box / packaging in comparison was craptacular.

You’ve forgotten to factor in the collectors outside of the US where Skywarp wasn’t available for a reasonable price, or at all. Amazon were mostly to blame for that. A lot more reasonable of an outrage than crying over a series of figures that were available for months.

That’s probably the best description: inconvenient. A combination of it being a just a Takara Tony release and remembering three separate times instead of just one.

Almost all my CW and Potp figures were bought on shelves. The box sets were widely available at many online stores. Many lasted long enough to go on discount.

I ordered the first two on pulse then well got busy and forgot. By the time I remembered, the second and third sets were already sold out on Pulse. So it took a lot more effort and a few more dollars. The 3rd pair was still available from tfsource for a small up charge. But I was one of those who had to stalk the dropped preorders when Pulse started shipping the 2nd pair. So a bit stressful to complete reasonably.

It was a bit more time consuming and a bit different then most collectors purchases of typical Hasbro releases. I can see why “hard” is used but it’s an oversimplification of the actual issues.
