As someone who is having a lot of fun and going out of my way to rebuy some figures (smash down....rung....etc) I would still be so HAPPY if they sold the art work as a poster canvas.....OR free for download! I hope they have a “Clean” no planet name version Spoiler Spoiler
So the Quintesson Judge piece is the other half of Quintessa and it connects to Skywarp and Thundercracker's piece. But there are routes that don't continue onto the seeker 2-pack piece, so I'm thinking it's a duplicate to another voyager's piece. Anybody get Earthrise Megatron in hand so we can know which piece he comes with?
I really thought we had figured the map out with the two Caminus piece being overlays one based on the Mercenaries one the bots and cons. The Galactic Odyssey map blows that out of the water with both labeled Caminus pieces as part of the image next to each other. It's back to looking like ringed planet Caminus' labels are an error as they don't connect onto weird little black looking Caminus. Looking for other explantations... that weird little black caminus doesn't really look like a planet. It look more like a Portal or Black Hole or something you pass through to get to planet looking Caminus? EDIT: Hmmm... I looked up Caminus on the Wiki just to see if I was forgetting anything. So it's actually a moon, circling a Gass Giant circling a dying dwarf star. That gives us some options. Perhaps the ringed planet is the gas giant and the smaller black shape is the Moon. Both given the name Caminus (Kinda like Endor in Star Wars). The other option is the black circle is the dwarf star. ZacWilliam, either way the routes on the ringed planet are still broken...
I've been dutifully collecting this whole thing, unaware this thread was here, and having a really good time, until I started looking at the map from the Paradron pack and trying to use it as a key. Then I came and read this thread. Now it seems pretty clear that several pieces are covered with mistakes, like ZacWilliam said, like some graphic designer just forgot to turn off some layers in Photoshop while they were cutting up their map and turning it into backdrops. I can think of some ways they could try to make sure a complete map is eventually possible, but I am not optimistic.
I don’t think I’ve seen anyone mention that a corner of Quintessa is incompatibly repeated on the bottom of the Sky Lynx piece and the top of the Skywarp/Thundercracker piece.
Welcome to the thread, Phil, and, boy, that does not bode well - the map isn't even jigsawed correctly? I mean that's not even an edges-overlapping situation, it's just out.
I think I was able to put Slitherfang in place using the Amazon map. Looks like his piece is the bottom left of Paradron. I also put the Conehead piece in above Scorponok and the Snapdragon piece near that. I did 4 versions of the map. One I left the Seeker piece off, one I did with the weird overlap on Quintessa, one I tried placing the Seeker piece in a grid spot, and one has the Seeker piece placed but not Sky Lynx. Quintessa doesn't work at all. The Seeker piece doesn't fit the grid if you overlay them, but the paths don't work and you have 2 Quintessas if you place the Seeker piece separately. When placed separately and ignoring Sky Lynx, it matches the Amazon map the best. Chaar is all messed up, too. It's mirrored left to right on Sky Lynx's piece compared to the Amazon map. On Scorponok's piece, it isn't mirrored, but instead rotated almost 90 degrees counterclockwise compared to Amazon. Some things are at slightly different angles all over the map compared to Amazon, so Chaar being turned seems less problematic than it being mirrored. I think Sky Lynx may be the problem piece, since it has Quintessa and Chaar both messed up and the Dead Universe rift shown doesn't match the background given by Hasbro or the Amazon map.
Wave 2 deluxes hit their street date today so we need to start scanning those! I'm hoping for Airwave and the Allicon tomorrow
I think this is the most correct arrangement possible for what's currently released, making heavy use of the Paradron Medics pack map graphic as a reference: (More information added in bold text on September 24th) The only problems with this arrangement are the following errors, but when these are disregarded, the pieces fit based on many other details: All of the red markings from the Starscream piece are also shown on the Snapdragon and Quintesson Judge pieces. (The Snapdragon and Judge pieces also have their own unique markings in addition to the Starscream markings.) All of the red markings from the Astrotrain piece are also shown on the Doubledealer piece. This includes the label for the planet Caminus. (The Doubledealer piece also has its own unique markings in addition to the Astrotrain markings.) Not shown in the graphics produced for this post: All of the red markings from the Hoist piece are also shown on the Allicon, Arcee, and Smokescreen pieces. This includes the label for the planet Junkion. (The Allicon, Arcee, and Smokescreen pieces also have their own unique markings in addition to the Hoist markings.) (The only Wave 2 figures that don't exhibit this type of error are the deluxe Airwave, and all of the smaller size classes packaged on cards instead of in boxes.) A path that the legend labels "Quintesson" leaves from the planet Quintessa, and then is not even close to aligned at the boundary between the Skywarp/Thundercracker piece and the Sky Lynx Piece. The right-side tip of Quintessa is present on both the Skywarp/Thundercracker piece, and the Sky Lynx piece. Here's an illustration I made of all the errors: I think, in order to fix all these problems, the following pieces would need to be replaced: Doubledealer Snapdragon Judge Allicon Arcee Smokescreen Skywarp/Thundercracker and/or Sky Lynx (original designer intent is more difficult to interpret in this area, but there is definitely a problem) Those are the pieces that I haven't taped into place. When they are removed, there are no visible errors. Here are the two official reference images we've gotten from Hasbro (with corrected proportions):
Makes me wonder how much work it would be to scan those pieces in and just erase the error-duplicate lines and then print them out in scale. It doesn't sound difficult. -ZacWilliam, the Quintessa/Sky Lynx scaling/duplication issue would probably be a lot more complicated
I think I've said it before but in my mind I'm gonna remember that the fictional set up for the Fan Vote Decepticon figure last year was that they would be a stowaway who had snuck aboard the Ark. I'm gonna pretend that this map mess-up is the result of Runamuck sabotaging the Ark's maps. -ZacWilliam, it's the kind of thing Hasbro could do to explain it if they were giving us as much story/character stuff alongside the toyline as I wish they would...
More visual aids, this time without using color coding or labels: On the left: Starscream’s piece. In the middle and on the right: two pieces that duplicate all the lines from the Starscream piece, but also have their own unique backgrounds and other details. (Snapdragon and Judge.) And then the same thing with Astrotrain on the left, and on the right, the lines and label are completely duplicated on top of the otherwise unique Doubledealer piece:
Good News! Alicon's piece with Gigantion on it has the map routes and labels for Junkion erroneously printed on it as well. -ZacWilliam, Boy whoever is in charge of packaging design for Hasbro REALLY screwed this up. I wonder if they know.
How bizarre. That’s the first mistake in the Deluxe size class, and the duplicate path error continues to happen only to characters related to the Mercenary or Quintesson factions. That’s a very strange coincidence, but I still believe that’s all it is. I wrote [email protected] a detailed email today with a link to this page of this thread. They’ve been courteous and helpful via their site’s chat function in the past, but I don’t really expect a response to this.
