That's sad. The line definitely had potential. Hopefully they don't eff it up so badly they turn a lot of people like you off.

It can't be too complicated to produce this line with the apparent demand and a bunch of plastic crack junkies cooped up in their caves. Even with a tough economy, addicts will find a way to get their fix.

At this point I can take the line or leave the line really. I got a pretty cool set of Cobras out of it. Hopefully we get the Cobra Storm Shadow and Alley-Vipers too, but it would have been awesome to see Crimson Guard, Viper, BATS, EELS, Snowserpents etc.

Not really feeling any of the Joes too much though. Even my Snake Eyes, which should have been awesome is all freaking wobbly in the waist and still doesn't have a proper sidearm or knife that fits. They missed the mark on colors for most of the Joe characters IMO that left me less than satisfied.

PS anyone fix a wobbly waist yet?

Yeah, this kind of stuff is always fascinating. I know the big change to V3 Snake-Eyes was the addition of the goggles on the 25th version. They made the butterfly knives removable, but I'm not sure if that was "a because we can" or if that was the original intention of the ARAH version and budget/design limitations of the time made them have to be sculpted to the torso. Really hoping we get that one or V4 at some point in Classified. Those are by far my favorite two Snake-Eyes designs since those were the ones I had as a kid. Too young to get the V1 and V2 figures when they were released.

Haha, yeah I think we will see all these characters in many forms, many times over. Main thing with Baroness is I think the current one might be the best look for her to me so I kinda want to just get it over with.

Finally got a proper gun for the cobra trooper, still trying to find one I like for beachhead. Does anyone know what his other gun is from the 25th line? I know his classic one is the demro xf7 which no ones ever going to make but he has that other sorta mp5 looking thing with a skeletonized folding stock

Where did you get the Dragunov rifle from for the trooper?

Why would Bandai even be an option for high end 1/12 Joes? They're a direct competitor to Hasbro.

I saw these made by a guy on fwoosh. The sculpting is here, hasbro just "hasbroed" up the figures like they do with everything. Its like they look at a figure and say "nah, that is to close to perfection, better cut a neck joint that goes into his spine or better throw some gaudy gold paint on it or float the head 3 feet off the body so we have giant neck gaps". They can't help it, they are hasbro.

Was this in response to anything in particular or just a general sentiment?

I don’t really think you can ebb and flow on what “scalping” is. Seems pretty cut and dry. Buy something rare for retail with the sole intention of selling it for a markup. Never seemed too complicated to me.

I will say this line has definitely been online only for me. Constantly checking stores doesn’t excite me anymore at all.

Who needs any other guns with a hat accessory like that?:p

I knew what the original gun was at one point but forgot since I couldn’t find one to use. I decided I’m going with the UMP-45 from Little Armory for him.

That’s part of why I said it’s unlikely that anyone else will make 1/12 GI Joe and I’m stuck with Hasbro. In case you weren’t aware, Hasbro has the license for Star Wars, Marvel and a few other franchises that they make 1/12 figures of and other companies including Bandai do as well. Since Hasbro directly owns GI Joe, I doubt they will employ others to make better versions of their own property.

The thing is, there are very few instances of toys being rare at retail, for any reason other than scalping. If it were just a case of someone buying a rare toy and selling it for more money, I wouldn’t really have a problem with it. But anymore, these toys are almost always only rare because scalpers bought up nearly the entire supply of them to artificially increase the demand.

I took the vest off w1 Roadblock, and his ab-crunch was very wobbly (you couldn't tell with the bulky vest hindering movement). I took a thick rubber band and cut it into 1" strips and crammed a few of them up into the torso. Not exactly an elegant solution, but there's no modification needed, and they don't show. It's working rather well so far.

V4 is overlooked, I think we are some of the few that actually like it. My friend had it back in the day and I thought it was awesome, from the colors to the grappling hook missle launcher. Just wish it could store the swords. The 90’s has garish colors as Hasbro tried to make Joes be like other toylines but V4 was a 90’s design done right IMO. Still preserved the mysterious look and incorporated neon in a way that didn’t look outlandish.

The 90’s sound attack Major Bludd was bad ass too, I liked it a lot more than the original, aside from the huge jet pack.

It doesn’t help that these sculpts were already finished years ago and the team handling Joes now for the most part, is largely new to it IIRC aside from a handful of people.

I'll never understand why V4 isn't more popular and I agree that the '90s designs could get pretty garish but Snake-Eyes was one of the better ones. I was also fond of '90s Duke, Dusty, Hawk, Cobra Commander... actually I just hopped over to YoJoe.com and honestly, I think the '90s got weird after those guys were released really... around '93/'94. A lot of the stuff between '90 to '93 was really good and I remember fondly because it was my "renaissance" so to speak with GI Joe since I had stopped buying them for a time when TMNT got really big for me as a kid. Only thing I remember that was pretty terrible in an eye-searing way pre-'93 were those Eco Warriors, Sonic Fighter Road Pog, and BAT V2. :lol

Me too man. I was surprised the modern one got relegated to a Dollar General release(which in turn was also slept on. Just needed more gear but for the price, was worth the $5 for sure). Even the green one was decent, kind of a Night Force look.
Agreed, also may coincide with the old team members leaving as well, 1 of them mentioned that innovation was out, profit and copying other lines was in. You can definitely see what he was talking about by those years.

I regret not being able to get the Sky Raven back in the day at Ames for freaking $12.99. Hell....the retro Joes at Walmart cost that much!

I pretty much slowed down collecting Joes by the time Battle Corps started spewing out repaints left and right seemingly taking the color palette from Skittles candy. Maybe Night Creeper Leader wore a blindfold so he couldn’t see how gaudy the colors of his costume and everyone else’s costumes looked.

Some of the vehicles were cool though, like the Ghoststriker, except the colors and paper backed stickers.

Yeah, I could live with small detail changes like switching the metallic gold to silver, or something... but my main fear is that a single-packed version would be blue. I really don't want a blue Baroness.

I just read about the blue collar vs black collar on cobra trooper. So now a variant (running change, mistake, whatever you want to call it) apparently exist for the already incredibly hard to find figure.

I’ll opt for whichever is easiest to find. Maybe 2-3 then I’m good, Hasbro will probably repaint it again with minor paint differences for the mainline later on.
