I found the movie Black Panther to be ... just good. Significantly overhyped TBH.
However I liked Bozeman and his character in the movies he was in.

    Still can’t believe this happened.

I’m sure that he’s had discussions with Feige , Marvel, and Disney about how he would like to see his character handled.

I can't see them recasting the role. It's not just Black Panther that's become a cultural icon...Boseman's portrayal of him has become just as iconic. He's essentially the face that put Black Panther on the map (at least for this generation on viewers). Someone like Hulk was easier to recast because Norton's portrayal of the character never became a cultural icon. Plus, Hulk has been played by plenty of other actors over the years...he's not identified with one specific actor in the same way that Black Panther is.

I could see them going the Leia route for future movies. Using deleted scenes and alternate takes to give him a presence in a future movie. I must say I find it hard to believe they'd kill him in-universe though. Leia's death was more acceptable since the character was getting old (even if Carrie Fisher lived, I suspect Leia would have died in-universe...both Luke and Han did). T'Challa is too young to kill off...and they can't have him die in battle. I could see them introducing a new Black Panther-type character (maybe Shuri), and leaving T'Challa in a (mostly unseen) background role, as the ruler of Wakanda.

I can't see them recasting T'Challa or keeping him alive in universe but barely seen. Both options are very disrespectful, and in the case of the latter they limit your storytelling options too much. ROS was hurt by the decision to keep Leia alive; i'm hoping Disney learnt their lesson from that.

I think BP will go to Shuri. As others have said there is precedence in comic. Is there even any male Wakandan of the royal bloodline they could use? Not sure on M'baku's lineage, but I don't really see him in the part.

They're not going to recast him. Besides the disrespect and outrage that would ensue people seem to forget that he wasn't just in one movie. He was in four.

God, knowing he had cancer at such a stage just means this was an inevitability but this is still another thing to add to the pile of reasons why 2020 sucks.
    RIP, Chadwick Boseman. :rip

Perhaps it would be most respectful for T'Challa to succumb to injuries from the events of Infinity War/Endgame and be given an in-universe funeral

I wonder, since he was sick during the filming of all of the Marvel stuff, if he had told them about it and perhaps worked with them to put something into place for this horrible eventuality.

he has to be recast. it's not disrespectful given the circumstances but necessary going forward. culturally black panther has been too important to just not recast. people will forgive it.

and i'm sorry but i dont' want shuri as black panther at all. i think she's terrible in the MCU. supporting role is all she's good for

I told it here before. Eventually Hollywood has to wake up and find someone else fast to get chosen as Black Panther.

Chad Boseman only starred in like what 3 Marvel Comics movies as just one character? Didnt he have the time to star in other normal movies?

    Im just asking

I’d rather they not recast, and I strongly disliked MCU Shuri, so I don’t want her taking the mantle either. They’re in a tricky position where they need to move forward with the property, but I’m not really interested in those alternatives. The only one I’d be interested to see is possibly an Okoye spin-off.

With that being said, I think they will move forward with Shuri due to the rumors a few months back. They probably were planning for this if those rumors were true. They were probably hoping they could film Chadwick’s scenes this year though to pass on the mantle, but COVID prevented any filming from happening on all MCU productions.

In hindsight I’m thinking at least some folks at Marvel knew what was going on and that’s why BP2 was later on the schedule than many expected.

You should probably just stop talking for everyone else's sake. You just joined like 2 days ago, spewed nothing but banality from the start and already had your off color remarks deleted, yet here you go again. Your profile says you're 40 but you sound like a challenged 14 year old with this nonsense. Go take two seconds and just Google his name - you'll see he has done a LOT more outside of the Marvel stuff. I mean, jeeeesus christ :rolleyes2

    Moving on...

Given the circumstances of how he passed away and the overnight icon he turned into with the Black Panther character, there's just no way in hell Marvel will recast it. They'll find a way to explain his absence or even character death, but they won't put someone else in that role. More importantly, no one else would even TAKE that role out of respect.

I really do hope we get another ancestral plane scene in which Shuri sees T’Challa again, using simple unused footage. But not trying to work dialogue around him like Leia. Just seeing T’Challa smile would be enough. Let her hug him and in the close up it can be a body double. If there’s any cut line of T’Challa saying something encouraging to her, use it. Basically give me the Leia hug from TROS.

Just a little something. Enough to accept he’s gone.

RIP Chadwick Boseman. Although I thought Black Panther the movie was alright I still think he was a great lead and did a great job in the role for the four movies he was in. He had a great screen presence and seemed like a genuinely good guy in real life. As much as this sets the MCU back and makes my nerdy brain curious on how they will adjust for now I think it's best just to remember he was more then an actor for our entertainment but a person with a family and I am sure this time must be hard for them. I will always appreciate him as T'Challa when rewatching the four movies he was in. Wakanda Forever!

    RIP

Agreed. These things are bigger than any one person 99.99% percent of the time. The only exception that springs to mind is Peter Sellers as Inspector Clouseau, because those sequels were just an excuse to have him keep playing the character rather than any kind of artistic expression or storytelling and it shows in the films made after his passing. Black Panther is no Pink Panther, the show must go on.

Its possible given they already did the animation for his episode and the animation procress is done after they had recorded the dialogue

Black Panther will be recast soon anyway and the Chad Boseman fans need to chill out also. So dont chew me out for telling you the truth/facts

You do realize that a movie character even if its a comic book character will have another different actor to star as in a movie.

With CGI as advanced as it is today, if Boseman's family is willing and if it's done in a respectful manner they could do a CGI Boseman for the film. (Emphasis on the conditions required)

    The first part, yes, eventually.

The second part... too soon IMO. Allow mourners to mourn at their own pace. I speak from experience. I once told mourners to chill and got told off for it.
