Heh, between MS and NA, how many Soundwaves/Soundblasters am I going to end up with after all this? But yeah, I had been wondering what the light up tape was for. Maybe someone had mentioned it was for lamp post mode, but I guess it didn't register until they showed a pic of it.

Eh, he's got the better head sculpt no doubt, but the smashed in face of NA's kinda set a low bar. But yeah, NA Frumble looks fine from the waist up, but that hip and leg design does not.

 

Buzzsaw is "core" when all he ever did was shoot some guys, but Ratbat who was leader of the Decepticons in the comics isn't? You fictional character elitists use some strange logic sometimes.

I hope Ex will be the one with metallic finish in the end. Doesn't make much sense to give the toon version a metallic finish instead of the toy version. Oooor maybe it does. I don't know.
I do know I'm tempted to buy that toy version on top of the SG. But please, NA. Do a Marvel UK version too.

to me buzzsaw was in the original Marvel comic 4 part TF mini series and was an original G1 toy toy release from the 80s which i own from BITD, so yeah… to me he's a core cassette. i have no attachment to ratbat's character or toy in either cases.   so if my "elitism" offends you, because you feel buzzsaw is a lesser character to ratbat, i can't help that, as i don't share that same opinion.  

i literally don't give a "rat's arse" about ratbat!  

 

For the scale, I think he and the tapes look incredible.

 

I don't mind one way or another. But I roll my eyes at all the "core" this and "A-list" that we've been getting since WFC began.
If a character is "core" when it's important to you personally that's the best definition of the term IMO.

 

Huh.. lots to like and lots to not. For me it’s a battle of silhouette and proportion (MS win) vs interesting detailing and finish (NA win) and then the scale you want.

I’m still leaning on NA to get a consistent look across my Decepticons, and I do quite like this guy, but I do have little niggles.. the goggle eyes, the battery guns with the wrist grip too near the end rather than centered, smaller arms, goofier Frumble proportions. But I love the finish, the sculpting, the feeling of solidity vs the MS spartan plastic.

 

Wow...H21 is sold out on ShowZ! Glad I got me preorder in months ago.

 

I guess I just don't get the hostility people have towards Ratbat- I don't think of it as being elitist, just incredibly arbitrary? He's an '86, pre-Headmasters (the toyline, not the cartoon) release, the same year as things like the Combaticons, Predacons and Stunticons. So to me he's as much of a "G1 Toy" release as the rest of them. He may not have featured in the pre-movie cartoons, but he's very much core by toy and comics standards. Like if only the original 4 part TF comics count as G1, that's a WHOLE lot of characters that aren't true G1 then, no Coneheads, no Insecticons, Constructions, etc. Same for the toyline, because he's an 86-er, there's no date cut-off to make him not count and still count things like all the scramble city combiners.

Like I would understand folks complaining if these companies came out with Beastbox, Squawktalk, Slugfest, Overkill, Enemy, Garboil, Howlback or Wingthing (he wasn't even actually a cassette!) first. But being offended at Ratbat's inclusion seems very unjustified.

I mean, both H21 and H21B just went up for order on TCP, and will most likely be up on the other stores eventually, so its not like he's no longer available or anything. But I guess that sucks for people who only shop there.

H21 ex's page says "arrival notice". They're probably just marked as sold out because they're incoming.

it may be arbitrary to you, but it isn't for me from my perspective. i didn't continue to follow TF after the first 4 comics and early toy release, so didn't watch the TV cartoons, animated movies, toys, etc. at least not religiously as others might have. so to me it was basically soundwave and 5 "initial" cassettes. is "initial" more PC for everyone???

and just to be clear, i have no hostility towards ratbat, i just have no connection with the character and so have no interest. and even with characters i am familiar with, there are some i just don't care for. and i'm sure that holds true not for just me.

i am with you 100% on that note. everything about them is just off. i would have thought NA would have tweaked them the second MS was revealed. but i guess not oh well.

this bot just doesnt do it for me. his arms and thighs are just way to thin. i wonder if he is sick or something.

the elbow wing is a little much as well.

 

The arms don't bother me in most positions, but this

is not a very attractive look.

 

i think it is just over thought all the way around. i felt the same with MS. since you cant give him a true alt why complicate the bot for the sake of doing it.

i also feel the double cannon/rifle thing is extremely lazy in their part. how hard would it have been to just mold up a separate unique piece. instead of giving you the same thing twice.
