With what seems to be a gunbarrel or similar emitter on the end, it kinda looks like a cross between his TM whip, and his prototype weapon.
@Apollux So these are the real deal, neat. Cheetor - Very much off in bot mode, not bad per say, but horribly off. The cheetah mode is as good as it gets in CHUG. Blackarachnia - Bot mode is nigh on perfect at CHUG scale. Warpath - Looks to be very involved, neat.
So, it's happening, eh? Bring it on, loving this so far. Seeing BW Transformers on store shelves is going to give me a serious nostalgia kick. Rattrap looks great, especially for stuck a cheap toy. Reminds me of how stunned I was buying my first transformers since I was a kid and getting the legends Shockwave from CW, just seeing how much detail and articulation they stuffed into such a tiny toy. This gives me a similar feeling. As for comparisons to the T30 one... That one was decent at the time, but he looked incredibly wide and bulky, the beast mode looked like an evil gremlin and the knees developed several cracks just from gently transforming them once. Not a fan, especially considering the weirdly limited articulation (similarly to Waspinator). Must buy for me. Cya Raziel-chan
It’s a joke you donut. Just coz I corrected you about thinking Primal was the size of King Kong doesn’t mean you need to go starting shit where there is none.
I'm sure you were... And go ahead and make it all about you, even though that has nothing to do with why I responded, if it makes you feel better.
There's no need to NOT have any show accuracy to have a fun desk bot though, especially when people have been waiting for long time, most likely they don't want "updated" looks (cough Universe Cheetor cough) or a bot filled with gimmick like ports (which, would probably makes them looks bad in beast mode).
People have been fine with updated-but-not-100%-accurate robots all the time in the past tho? The Classics Line didn't even aim for fierce accuracy til Siege, and by that point the Classics stuff had already existed for nearly 11 years.
Double Ironically, this year IS a year of Rat in Chinese zodiac. You're comparing a line that's keep getting updated every year with BW which basically, aside from some odd universe/generation/T30 lineup here and there, is their first proper update? And while I don't disagree with your statement, Siege-ER-Kingdom seems to aim more for fierce accuracy, compared to their other line (Sans Studio Series, perhaps...).
I mean, when the first classics batch happened, Optimus, Megatron, Bumblebee and more all got toys that looked nothing like their animation models beyond very wide brush strokes too. Personally I'm fine with BW goign for accuracy to the cartoon since alot of those designs never got toys that truly looked like them, but I also appreciate the new ideas like the way the new Cheetor seems to transform and his flat out cooler Cheetah mode.
That's not flat out cooler, the OG one was just too chubby and this time they're going for accuracy :x
Rat's rib can be easily explained as metal pipe especially when it's unpainted, as opposed to gut gun... I guess
And yet no mention of Rattrap's exposed brain pan (or in the Power Rangers line, the far grosser and squishier-looking Lord Zedd's)? I can definitively say that Cheetor's gun removal has nothing to do with some sort of secret anti-gore/PC crusade within Hasbro's design staff.
Different target for Lord Zedd, probably? Either way, I don't think their decision to remove it is because there's anti gore crusade going on, maybe they just want to you know, as people said in this thread, "updates the look"
If Cheetor doesn't have his show weapon, it's fine. The Siege/ER guys didn't always either. It's unfortunate, but the upside is it let them build a slick cheetah mode, and the tail whip means he still gets to have a BW "beast part turns in to weapon" gimmick. Would be funny if one of the Fossilizers actually had a gut gun as one of his parts. Or if they did "Catgut" as one of the Battlemasters. I think I saw a DPCI for that price point.
I don't think it was changed due to the toy designers wanting to decrease the violence, I just genuinely think they had no place to put it since cheetahs are such lithe animals without much area for something like that to clip onto or hang off of Cheetor. Perhaps a better toy designer could have done so, but if you want a realistic cheetah transformer you have to sacrifice some things I guess.
A buddy of mine made a decent point, and it's one I'm keeping in mind. If the figure isn't any better than it's predecessor, then there's no point in making the figure or in me getting it. I'm looking forward to this line, and while Rattrap is a bit 'meh,' I'm really liking the leaked shots of Blackarachnia and Cheetor. I'm definitely looking forward to Tigatron. But as examples I was given, you look at AEC Cybertron Optimus Prime versus his Siege Galaxy Force release, and I see why the new one is just not worth it to a lot of people. Same with SS ROTF Soundwave and his split-legs mode. Someone on the boards wrote it off as some kind of "they had to make it just to get it done." What a horrible reason to make a figure! You make it with the intention of making a good figure, especially with these lines. So, as long as future figures are made with better consideration than any of that, and they're better than the original figures of old, then we're on the right track. After that, it just becomes a subjective thing one whether that 'better' is good enough for you. For me, I look at Rattrap...and he's better than the original. And more than just a little. Whatever fallbacks he has, he does have more than that leg up on his '96 counterpart. And while I love the deluxe version (it nailed the feel for Rattrap VERY well--and maybe even better than this new guy!) he's too big for the BW collection. Admittedly, just being better may not be enough, especially with a 25 year time span. But at the same time, overall I like what I see and will likely pick him up. If he's the 'meh' figure of the group, then maybe we've gotten that out of the way and can proceed to some really awesome reveals. I like the last two we just saw. Hoping for more of the same (or Better! )
Probably this too. There'll always be compromise, even MP use faux parts. Also we need to keep in mind that Hasbro is working under different condition, budget, law, etc. What pass before, might not pass today. So there'll always be compromise. But it's fine to feel disappointed, it's also fine to feel hyped
