I like the T30 figure, but the Kingdom version seems to be closest to what I want, size and design-wise. Even the relative lack of shiny paint apps seems more appropriate for a guy who's used to sneaking around. If they do Packrat, I'd like them to use clear blue plastic for him (the energon armour effect). And considering his various histories, have him be part of the Mercenary faction.
All that means is people are bitching about this figure's size without knowing what class it's in which manages to be worse than those who would know it's Core/Legends instead of Deluxe.
Woah, that looks... surprisingly great! And honestly better then I was expecting at the scale, nice to see some ball joints!
Excellent reference and completely correct! Don't worry. I'll be making up for it! I'm planning to purchase three Rattraps and two each of the other Beast Wars characters for Kingdom, plus Selects, etc. Three of Dinobot and Blackarachnia if I can afford it and squeeze it into the budget. I plan to continue my normal one each of the G1 characters for Kingdom, unless they make something really outstanding. I'm tempted to get a Kingdom Arcee as well, despite the repack, if they put that Kingdom poster on the boxes. Kind of want new official art of her and Rattrap together, seeing as they're related. I don't mind Packrat as a mercenary, but, would like him to come with an Onyx Primal per the Botcon Script reading. I'd prefer a Fractyl to remake the set, but, Terrorsaur's status for the line seems to be unknown for now.
The comment you replied to originally was talking about the Transform Element one, not the deluxe class one.
I\'m passing on this one. He looks good, but I much prefer the Generations one. side note; why can\'t we get him with an accurate backpack? All of his rat feet are supposed to be on his back, yet this uses them for the feet without even TRYING to hide them like the generations one did
The WFC robot mode looks the best in my opinion. I like the smaller head of the WFC one, but his big fat hips and lack of articulation in the feet makes it so the generations beast mode is better. I guess I'm just spoiled by having that Transform Element Rattrap. He looks great in both modes.
He'll be there. That mold has too many reuses available not to get made. The three missing S1 dudes will pop up like the Ratchet/Ironhide did in Earthrise
And ER Ironhide. Also studio series is getting G1 characters that will be even more accurate to the animation designs.
I’m fine with this figure, but it doesn’t look as close to the BW character as, say, ER Trailbreaker looks like the G1 design. The rat mode really isn’t accurate, they’re right to be picky.
Crackpot hobo theory time: the 2.5-ish year hiatus for the smol scale was to figure out how to get them up to modern toy engineering standards. The technology now is better than even when T30 happened. Heck, some of you are completing Studio Series Devastator, and the complex, multilayered combination process would have been unthinkable in 2009. This thing looks nearly as amazing as a modern day 3P Legends. I'm impressed.
His gun was fine, not sure why it would be terrible. Most transformers have no necks... I am looking at Earthrise Wave 1 and only Optimus has something like one. Balljoints kinda make them unnecessary. That said, this new toy has no neck either. Mostly though, this new toy will come up to maybe the waist of a Deluxe? We seen them next to Reflectors and those are not the tallest Deluxes. Unless Cheetor is super tiny and the same size as Earthrise Cliffjumper, Rattrap will look really out of scale. Dinobot certainly cannot ride him in the ratcycle mode (yes, I know that was Transmetals, but Rattrap did not get any larger when he gained the new body).
Looks pretty good! Wonder if he can stand up on his hind legs in rat mode? I'm guessing no, and even if he could, the rat arms being frozen in place would look pretty terrible.
Where are the 3mm pegs for blast effects? I hope it is still possible to put a fireblast effect on the canon of his gun
I'd say that was a good thing. The G1 altmodes were (usually) very realistic. The Beast Wars CGI models... not so much. I'm more than happy with the BW characters getting more updated versions of their beast forms.
Thank you for the reassurance! I'd very much like him to be. Terrorsaur as a toy is one of my absolute favorites. I was only to snag one of Botcon Terrorsaur. I'd love a new updated one for him and Fractyl.
I am more interested in the bones armor I've been hearing I understand that, but was meaning that it's not just BW where people sometimes don't like a certain figure, G1 also has figures that aren't as impressive cough* Arcee, I do though hope they bring the comic series designs they are just too good to just be comic art
