I just watched the little video that these photos originated from. That was awesome. I'm so very happy.
I'm not sure how many times this needs to be said... He's a Legends figure (now renamed "Core" class). Not a Deluxe.
Something I kinda like the idea of: Maximals being at a disadvantage because they're playing by the rules of their alt modes (relatively scale to the real thing, able to remain in disguise) but the Predacons are saying "HA NO LAWL!" and going with dinosaurs and giant insects. It would make a great pitch for a BW movie and would be fun to try out on a smaller scale with both this toyline and the eventual miniseries. The other thing to consider, Rattrap is in the Core class alongside Megatron and Prime so it's pretty clear they're not really counting that one among their current "scale."
For me it was the fact Cliffjumper and Studio Series figures like Jazz and some of the Bumblebees. Plus legends has been absent for both Siege and Earthrise, so people probably got confused, like me.
Because legends got cut for the last two years and as this is a trilogy I guess people expected that to be the case for Kingdom too.
I guess I also need to remember that not everyone followed the info leaks obsessively like I have been doing.
And, y'know, articulation, proportions, robot mode accuracy, actually looking like a real rat. I think people are forgetting just how weak T30 Rattrap was in many respects. He couldn't even bend his arms 90 degrees, nor did they look that great being oversized to fit the bomb gimmick. He also had a terrible gun, no neck, weird legs and somehow an even worse backpack than a Legends toy. Compare and contrast the following: The new one is so much closer to the show it's not even funny. If it had more paint it'd look even closer. Just look at how far apart the arms are on the T30 compared to the show, and how closer in width the Kingdom one is. Even the rat head and robot head are closer in proportion, and the Kingdom sculpt is far more accurate and IMO appealing. He also doesn't have those honkin' thick calves or awkwardly placed tail.
WFC feels like that bit on the Simpsons where they are at the petting zoo fawning over the sheep. Each Sheep gets cuter. Then we get to the cutest sheep which is Kingdom. But the Earthrise sheep decides to get in the way. And while the Earthrise sheep is still cute I wish I could be like Homer and shove it out of the way now. Edit:. Wait it was the first sheep that got in the way. So the siege sheep. Maybe that's the Netflix line then....
Because people don't read. I mean yeah there are BW people being picky, but we also saw a forum-wide meltdown over the color of ER Prime's fists so you don't really get to point fingers here.
Cyber Silver hes not a deluxe. replacing micromaster 2 packs is the return of legends but now under the name core class.
I've seen most people supporting and being fine with it, though? Not like people don't bitch about the G1 figs either.
This guy looks really neat, pretty good engineering for what is essentially a more articulated version of his original toy. I does not beat the t30 version nor does it try to do so, it\'s a new version of the character at a size that fits the current scale hasbro is going for, and at a 10$ usd pricepoint, it\'s an excellent opportunity to get the character. I can\'t even begin to imagine how good the rest of the Kingdom assortment will come out as far as BW is concerned.
I wasn’t expecting to care about this... for $10 though, I can dig it. People need to remember that this isn’t the original BW... it’s just BASED on BW, so they can take some liberties and update the characters a bit. Also forget the old scale. This is WFC scale.
We should probably wait to see it next to a really small deluxe, like Studio Series Jazz because if they aren't far off each other the small deluxes could be Cheetor etc. And yeah hopefully this isn't the only Rattrap for a while either way.
