In your guys' opinion, what's the best Batman figure out there? I've always liked after the Ascending Knight, but it sucks that so many of the best figures are high maintenance and pricy MAFEX and Mezcos.
From what I've seen the Mafex Hush Batman, he has great articulation, very wired cape, and looks really good. Again I personally passed and am going to get the black and gray version on preorder (prefer Batman in black instead of blue personally).
That’s a tough one to answer. Do you have any other criteria? Personally, if we’re talking 6-7inch scale, I like the DC Essentials Knightfall Batman. At least sculpt wise. But I’ve also, always liked the classic blue and grey costume. It’s extremely lacking in the accessories department though. If we’re talking any scale, I’d probably go with Hot Toys for having some of the best Batman figures in 1/6 scale. I particularly like their Keaton Batmans, but really they’ve done a great job on all of them.
Yeah that 1:12 area is the sweetspot for me. I think Essentials is the line my Wonder Woman came from.
Essentials is a cool line. I really like their Batman: The Animated Series figures too. I was sorry to hear that they’re closing DC Direct.
Has there been any word on a preorder date for Arkham Batman and Deathstroke? I don't want to miss out on them.
You'll prob randomly see them in Target/Wally while shopping, I've got my eyes out for Deathstroke as that design works great
Mezco 1:12 TDKR Batman...any version of it. It’s my definitive Batman figure and I don’t need any others anymore. I still but some though. Only other one I would really want is a classic Neal Adams Batman if anyone would ever do it Justice.
That one does look pretty great. Obviously Jim Lee's Batman is iconic, it's been the default key image for Batman in every product label for 17 years. There is something almost too default about it, though. Like, I worry it would look out of place even next to other comic book figures because it's so very much a Jim Lee Batman. Don't suppose anyone here has comparisons with Marvel Legends? That's kind of why I wish I were working when the SHF Dark Knight was around. Had half a mind to paint the body grey and the eyes white. Do you have to take particularly special care of the fabric on those?
No, but you're also not getting one at this point for under $250 if you're lucky. That might be a thing to mention.
That new Mafex Dark Knight Batman and Carrie Kelly Robin set look pretty cool. And I think it’s retail price is about $130. That might be a less expensive option for a Dark Knight Batman. Although, it is the blue and grey version rather than the black and grey.
I don't care for the Miller design. Like I said, if I were to spring for a Mezco it would be the First Appearance style figure. Maybe if Mafex makes enough money from Hush Batman they'll go back to the well for more comic stylings, like First Appearance (or even better, Darwyn Cooke) or Court of Owls.
As noted by others, I haven't done anything to take extra care and last I looked, the figure is fine.
I love the dark knight batman as well as the first knight one I have (ascending or sovereign?) I can't ever remember which was the first one. They are really good but I think the question should be more fair and include price point. Not even considering secondary market the mezcos both were around $80 i think when released by mezco. The mafex is in the $90 to $100 range i imagine because that is about what the mafex apidermen all ran. My personal favorite comic looking one is probably the neca from the predator pack (armored) or alien pack (regular batsuit) and those where around $25 considering rhe pack was $50 I think split between 2 figures. So if you compare dollar for dollar using release price points i think the neca is most comparable to the mcfarlane stuff. But i think the mcfarlane line has fully shined yet to be honest. Todd was so close to great with the detective 1000 release. A few tweaks like larger head, sharper head sculpt, and perhaps some adjustment to the torso and a bit different (maybe even softgoods) cape and it would be the perfect for its price point. I guess the point being if you want the ultimate batman figure there are several to choose from but really you have to consider price point in the equation. Comparing a gold rolex watch to a walmart timex watch doesn't mean you won't get the time, but obviously they arent in the same league
If a Cooke or Capullo style Batman is what you want, Mafex isn't going to do it better than the existing DCC figures
