Here's my finished SS Shockwave!

This one was kind of challenging since there's a lot more weathering than detail work, but I'm really happy with the final result! I started off with a base coat of gunmetal on some sections and a blue/purple mix on others. From there I used a couple different dry brushes, and then a sponge brush technique to get the weathering down. I used a gloss red for the eye and fusion cores, and gold detailing scattered throughout. The only details specifically for vehicle mode are the extra red optics I put on the face guards, which I thought looked cool.

So, I've had a few days to tinker with SS Devastator after finally getting Overload, and I won't complain too much because I'm glad I have it rather than go without, but I will say the transformation is unfun and borders on a chore. Flipping this, tabbing that, twisting all of the thingamabobs, etc. Just...tiring. Getting everything just right so he locks together solidly is just...time consuming. My first combination was well over two hours because the instructions suck and I couldn't get Scavenger transformed to save my life due to forgetting how to transform his ridiculousness.

It's impressive looking and imposing, but the scale is quite bad. *sigh*

 

I'll admit, tabbing Mixmaster into Scavenger, and hell, transforming Scavenger himself into the upper torso is a pain. Don't have Overload yet, but hopefully once I get him, tabbing everything will be less of a pain.

 

Has it ever went on sale?

 

Overload's the easy part. You slide Scavenger down onto him, forming the spine/torso, and then you slide his arms (which are now thighs) onto Rampage/Skipjack and Long Haul. He's quite possibly the easiest component of the set. Everyone else has a level of f*ckery that makes you cry at your own reflection in the mirror because you went to yell at yourself in the bathroom for attempting this in the first place.

(Subsequent combinations get easier, and quicker, it's still chore-ish though.)

 

Snapped some quick pictures of this guy. He is impressive, although I need to find a way to tighten up the ankle joints. The extra wrecking balls are on too!

 

I don't wanna know what stained dem balls.

 

I dealt with the Combiner Wars transformations, so plugging in the arms ain't an issue. Plugging Scrapmetal into Hightower is sometimes an issue, though it's mostly because I don't see how the peg goes into the socket half the time.

Hardly ever transformed Long Haul into his leg mode, so that'll be a pain.

 

Yay! Just completed/combined Studio Series Devastator!  

 

Imo Devastator is kind of a mixed bag but it’s still cool nonetheless that it exists

Why do so many people want Devastator's balls?

 

I have all of those I’d also recommend transcraft Mohawk and dx9 la hire. As for prime I have LT-02 and love it
