I’ve had both, I think this mold is well worth experiencing especially at this price. TE is a great solid figure but he feels a bit stiff and dare I say...robotic. Definitely want to reacquire a newer run of him sometime. I had a V1 and I really like some of the improvements they made so I sold it.

Got him delivered yesterday. Knew what I was getting into with all the ‘minor’ issues. Overall very happy with him.

Right leg tabs aren’t flush, but fixable.

Had the issue with the forearm tab, saw that the flap is a different shape the the forearm where it fits in, shaved a bit of plastic from the forearm corner, top corner near the elbow, to make it close to 90 degree angle, which allows the flap to stay in and not push out the tab by the hand.

Loosened the screw in the butt and shaved the white tab, an crunch now works perfectly. Prob about 3/4 turn of the screw to loosen.

Knees, haven’t got a clue with those tabs, will wait a bit before attempting to fix them, have enough articulation to pose him on my shelf at the mo.

Got to do the antennas and then paint the eyes and I’ll be happy with him.

For those worried about getting him in hand, 40mins for the little fixes and I think you’ll be alright.

Yeap agreed. Here’s what I did with my copy; straighten antennas with hairdryer, shave down the tabs for both arms, added a dab of superglue for the tabs on both legs.

It feels good like and looks good in hand but I gave up transforming him halfway. Certain tabs are just too tight and the plastic do feels like it might break anytime. The plastic feels good, but it’s just not “durable”.

    I used a Gundam marker (GM-17).

You just need to unscrew the 3 screws in the back of the head.

Whilst the fixes are frustrating the payoff is a lot. He's substantially more solid with tighter joints than mp44.

I bet they'd look even better together in their battle damaged state!! I have the IT01 version of the MP36 KO, and now that the battle damaged faceplate finally fits him (Odd thing, it didn't & wouldn't fit when I first got it back in 2018. Somewhere along the way in 2019, it finally fit...), it should look incredible!!

Okay, I'm digging your solution!! That actually looks better than the gun handles of literally every MP figure guns. 3D printed, I assume?

Overall, I'm still lookin' forward to gettin' the MP44 KO. Hasn't moved yet, still in the "shipping label created" phase (and it's been over a week already, it shipped on 08/11). The flaws don't bug me too much (though the knee thing sucks), but I honestly don't like how they went the MP10 KO route with the swappable panel...that just looks goofy!! It worked for MP10 because the Autobot symbol on the shoulder WAS a raised component. It doesn't work for MP44.

and I have a good one from the get go , and won't have loosen joints anytime soon with careful playing so win win. It's good that you actually spend time to fix the wrong

My official mp-44 was a dud from the get go. I am so freakin glad I returned it back to AMJ. And It cost 250$ to ship back at AMJ’s expense. $350 for the toy, $250 to ship back. Gotta hand it to AMJ.

    list of issues:
-Awful sprue marks, especially on top of the chest, next to the lights in bot mode.
-dimples in the plastic - very obvious in the yellow painted area on the waist
-missing pin on the matrix chamber
-worn out ratchet on the outward shoulder joint on the right.
-a tab for the truck mode left cab panel missing a chunk so it didn’t tab in tightly.
-waist that wobble like a bobble head doll.
-excessive play on the ratchets for the hips and knees
-knees worked as designed 80% of the time. Other times it would just friction and I would have to manually guide the tab into the slot.

I have no problem with ppl criticizing the ko and it is waranted but to pretend the official was perfect is just silly.

For $90 bucks, I will gladly spend a bit of time to fix some issues on the KO.

That is awesome. I wish I could have the knowledge and the stuff to make some of these. I would probably try and design a MP Optimus Prime and try and improve this one with new parts.

Exactly, there are indeed many issues, and even for that price it's still too much of them, but they're something you can fix so it's not the end of the world I would say. Has anybody got loose hips on theirs?

Oh mate it is, I am being clumsy with words so accept my apologies. It's just I am not sure I understand what you did for this feature to work. Is the piece on the right the original part and the one on the left the modified one? Is removing the small tab the only thing to do?

Does this mean you won't get the KO then mate? I thought you were and I would have gladly read your impressions on it. I love my MP44 but as you know, I am afraid of anything breaking on him so it's more a collector piece for me. This KO, if I manage to fix it and make everything work as intended, is a perfect alternative to be able to play and enjoy the mold.

That's what @Phamduc advised and he was right, it's the MP44's eyes' blue. Very nice painting job. I hope mine will be as well made as yours but my painting skills are second to everyone's...

Yea you get three neck pieces in total, one with each head. The orginal didnt, it was just the one neck piece that was on the body.

just trim the tabs on one of the neck pieces. Remove the neck pieces from all the heads ( does take a bit of wriggling to take out of the back of the head due to the new tabs). Once done you can slide each head on and off as you need

It's not the same as MP44. It's darker but to me is better than the original colour
