I’ve always considered the story arc of beast wars to be the important part, not the characters. The fact that they were preserving history instead of replacing it. When the maxamals controlled the ark why didn’t they wake up all the autobots and smash all the decepticons to bits then? There seemed to be a very concerned effort to return everything to the way it was.

 

Fear of paradox where, by changing the past, they could very easily have wiped themselves out of existence. Say the Maximals did kill off the Decepticons and power up the Autobots. They were far enough back in time at that point that those Autobots would have who knows how long to rebuild and get back to Cybertron, possibly even before they left. So, you'd have two of every Autobot that remained from the Ark crew, and a large amount of Decepticons gone, plus whatever energy source the Autobots had utilized to get themselves back home in their hands. They'd likely be able to end the war at that point, solidly having the upper hand.

And Cybertron no longer suffers energy shortage, thus there being no reason to drive the need for smaller forms to save energy. Thus, no Maximals. They may have helped their predecessors succeed in their goals, only to prevent themselves from ever having a reason to exist.

I'm pretty sure there were at least strong hints of fear of that scenario tossed around at times during the show.

 

man, really excited for bw megatton. Best part is now that we're getting core sized optimus, starscream and megatron, you can have a t rex causing havoc among them like a city rampage. With starscream in bw megs mouth, and crushing gl megs. Sounds fun!

 

Why does that even matter to this discussion? WFC is not G1, so by default whatever Beast Wars does occur in Kingdom will not be the same as the Beast Wars from the 90s because that Beast Wars was a sequel of a composit G1 that melded the Sunbow toon and Marvel comics.

 

So now that we have the final tally of retail figures, the only new stand-ins for my BW Masterpiece shelf will be... Airazor. Maaaaybe Scorponok, but a deluxe sounds like it would be too small for the character.

I guess I will just need to buy two Airazors and start a 2nd Generations-only BW shelf.

 

@Apollux with the latest Wal-Mart leaks, do we know all the mainline, non-exclusive or Selects Kingdom releases from Core to Leader?

 

I think that's most of them.
Which is a bit of a shame really as we likely will only get Wave 1 revealed at the next event.

 

It should be all... It matches the previous numbers...

Except core class, I think we've only heard Prime, Megatron, Starscream, and Rattrap

I think the assumption was the rest were Fossilizers.

Skids or Tarantulas would do nicely.

I think it's already been said that there's no deluxe jets, as much as I want this to happen.

 

@Apollux did they run out of ideas for who to add to the line up so they decided to bring back Arcee and Wheeljack? Or was there something more to that decision?

As much as I want this to happen I believe it was said there were no deluxe jets in the line. Since that would mean Needlenose isn't an option I'm hoping for Skids to complete the '84-'85 car line up. Poor Skids always gets the shaft.  

 

i hope they release a second commander this year i know it is not probable but who knows, i really miss the old leader class it would great if they bring back the 9 inches leaders maybe a 60 to 65 price point as super class 2 for year , it would great we could get optimal Optimus and dragon megatron, and after that maybe armada Optimus prime, armada jetfire, a good star saber,dezharas,

 

The inclusion of Shadow Panther is a nice surprise. Could his character be something of a direct adversary to Cheetor? Kind of like a Nemesis Prime/black redeco of a character?
