Prime may LOOK similar to bayverse, but you forget one thing. Prime had a good story, character development, and didn't put to much focus into humans over the actual Cybertronians. The bayverse didn't have a good story, and had just about no character development. It only had explosions and jokes to suit an adolescent child who cares little for story arch, plot, and character development.

The creative staff on TF: Prime were all long-time Transformers writers - and those who weren't had been long-time fans. For instance, the zombie Cybertronians in it were actual ideas they had when playing with the toys as kids.

And a lot of the ideas in TF: Prime were actually very good. The Predacons as prehistoric Cybertronians, for instance, is a brilliant idea. Dark Energon is an interesting concept and

You have to look at Prime Wheeljack as his own character - he's not meant to be the same as G1 Wheeljack. If they want Wheeljack to be a wise-cracking badass with a penchant for blowing things up, they can. Also, G1 Wheeljack's whole shtick was probably a bit too silly for TF: Prime's darker, more serious tone.

The problem is the Bayverse did borrow a shitload of aspects from the source material. It's not like, say, Roland Emmerich's Godzilla, which borrowed literally nothing from the Japanese films.

TF2007 had an Autobot line-up consisting entirely of '84 characters, had a rough analogue for the Creation Matrix, mixed with The Underbase and Vector Sigma, as a central McGuffin, a homage to the 86 movie in Jazz yanking aside Brawl's tank barrel... the list goes on. Revenge of the Fallen and Dark of the Moon had plot aspects directly taken from the G1 comics and cartoon, as well as concepts such as the Matrix of Leadership, the Thirteen (or Seven) Primes, including the Fallen, combiners and Pretenders - hell, as many people noted, DOTM was basically "Megatron's Master Plan" meets "The Ultimate Doom". You don't get closer to borrowing aspects from the source material than that.

Human-made Transformers used by an organisation dedicated to hunting down Transformers in AOE in a story featuring the Dinobots? IDW did that exact scenario in Maximum Dinobots. And, even though TLK dropped it, AOE was quite blatantly building up to an appearance from the Quintessons.

Now, the problem lies in the application - many of these were added in for reasons that did not logically serve the plot and/or were done badly. For example, Devastator basically pops up out of nowhere, destroys things before anticlimactically getting destroyed, when you'd need a whole film to explain what combiners are, why some Cybertronians can do it and others can't and why they're such a big deal.

But, then, that's to be expected when there really any well-regarded Transformers stories or story arcs to adapt. For example, the three Iron Man movies were basically adaptations of pre-existing arcs in the comics - the origin, Demon In A Bottle and Extremis, respectively, with a few aspects changed either to modernise the story, streamline it or set up something else in the continuity (Black Widow and Nick Fury appearing in Iron Man 2, for instance, was an Avengers set-up).

Problem is, Transformers doesn't have any of that - so you basically have to arrange a bunch of loose concepts together and put them into a story. Having said that though, I'd really like to see some of the IDW comic arcs adapted into a movie.

The Bayverse also added a lot of good ideas to the lore, as every interpretation of Transformers has done - the AllSpark being a physical object (providing a superior alternative to the Matrix of Leadership), the Fallen as an arch-villain and a lot of the lore of the Thirteen Primes and the idea of Optimus and Megatron as old friends, all of which have been used since then.

Bumblebee is the xmen 1st class and Ghostbusters 2016 of Transformers. Its not sure if its a prequel, reboot, remake etc and contradicts, ignores worse established content. Not to mention the poor g1 homage, which had so much potential and fell flat.

Hopefully Transformers 7 finishes off the Prime story arc started in The Last Knight.

No. It performed well above expectations. They already said there's going to be a sequel.

Hopefully new company coming on board means Paramount was pitching them new ideas instead of going well we just wanted to do the same old stale stuff all over again and hope for better results. After all this time of the movie franchise just sitting on the Paramount shelf it would be weird to go back to old live action designs and try to salvage old live action movie stories when they could be selling the next movie to a new generation of kids.

actually Prime didn't have a good story and doesn't actually have a fix and has almost no character development

Basically it's almost the same rubbish as TLK they just say it's good for the voice acting, animation (when it tends to look low quality) and the OST but not even that saves that Prime is poorly written and overrated

I know they said that, but people in Hollywood say a lot of things. I think Bumblebee performed just well enough to not be a total bomb, but not well enough that Paramount felt like it could kick off a new era in the franchise like they were hoping.

Maybe at one point they genuinely thought they'd be making a Part 2 and have since cooled on the idea. Or maybe they always knew they wouldn't, but it was something you say to the press to not admit you think your movie is under-performing. But the movie's almost two years old and there's been no concrete news about a sequel. No script, no director, no casting.

I'm not saying there definitely won't be a sequel, but I'm skeptical. Usually when something is an actual hit and getting a sequel, the news cycle two years later looks a lot different. Usually when you're making a big sequel you're shouting from the rooftops - "We got so-and-so to write it!" "The director is back!" "We got so-and-so to do another draft!" "We're adding this huge star to the cast, but we're not saying who he or she will be playing, yet. Theorize on your message boards!"

All the news that's been coming out of Paramount for years now looks like they're pretty sure there's still money to wring from Transformers, but no one is confident on quite how to do it.

And then Prime failed to do all those. Instead of getting character development, we got: "REEE YOU KILLED MY PARTNER / WAR FRIEND!!!" Instead of getting a good story, we got a shallow plot with cheap rating grabs that would be written over for threatening the status quo. And for the humans, we catch a glimpse of their potentially interesting lives of their own only to be dropped after the Orion Pax arc.

Atleast the movies didn't have their head up their ass in being "dark"

Bumblebee performed well at the box office despite its low budget compared to The Last Knight

Paramount does not plan to invest as much money as they did with TLK due to the fact that the losses can be greater

and hopefully Tlk has no sequel and that Prime's pseudo arc never ends

Actually, I'd say the problem was that Hasbro gave those chucklefucks free reign and then when the show they got completely and utterly rejected the Binder of Relevation entirely, Hasbro didn't clamp down like they should have and forced them to follow the $250k franchise bible they were hired to follow in the first place. Based on what we know of the Binder, it wasn't even that restrictive but the people behind Prime repeatedly made sure to screw over the continuity like a bunch of children who act more out of emotion than logic, since half the shit they did to this day doesn't have actual justification I.E. the whole 'was that Trypticon in Flying Mind' controversy where the only reason it couldn't have been Trypticon is because the show staff didn't want to be told to do things based on what FoC set up.

Prime had shit story based on collecting random junk that often didn't even last an episode and Fowler was the only good human (Jack was bland, Miko was apparently only a Japanese transfer student to explain why she was the kooky one and never actually did anything you'd expect from a Japanese native like speak Japanese, and Raf was such a plot resolution crutch that even the show production crew admitted they didn't know what to do with him in Season 3 because he couldn't simply deus ex machina the Autobots to victory half the time).

I prefer if this Transformers movie was like a faithful G1 Transformers movie instead of Bayverse because Bayverse MUST stay in the grave.

Edit: The really real reason why Bayverse must stay in the grave is that we, as the fans, don't want anymore plot inconsistency, supporting character that goes away in one movie or more, and many more topics I don't want to bring about.

I still think a palette cleanser in the form of a Beast Wars movie is possible, but agree with you. One or the other, thanks for the billions, Michael Bay, but we can do better.

Transformers 7 is just a placeholder title, just like how Bumblebee was called Transformers 6, even though its not the 6th main film, but its the 6th Transformers period, just like this one, its onyl referred to as TF7, cause its the seventh live action TF film in general, whatever its a sequel or a reboot or whatever

I hope it wont be another "character" driven movie where they mostly focus on a single character. While Bumblebee was good and a step in the right direction, I'd rather have a movie with multiple Autobots and Decepticons. Not just one bot vs two cons.
So, hopefully a sequel to Bumblebee with the same characters, designs, story continuation, etc - but with a larger cast of Transformers in focus. Something like, 3-4 Autobots and 4-5 Decepticons is a fair size in my opinion.
