Oh...oh boy: Spoiler Following the fight, Quake is apprehended. As a result, Sentinel Prime wants to bring Quake through the streets to shame him. Unfortunately, Soundwave has his followers to make the platform topple, thus giving Quake a chance to escape. Quake encounters a Vion, the same one from the last issue that gave Nautica the slip. He violently kills them, while also taking damage. Bumblebee ends up decapitating Quake, and loses his security position. However, he still holds a grudge against Barricade. Highlights: Plenty of action, some of which is going to have some unforeseen consequences...
Aww. BumbleBee. Spoiler First Bumblebee Siege then this Actually kinda glad we're moving away from the all too kid-friendly/naive profile of Bumblebee.
This is what I hate most about this comic right now. Everything is getting tense and it's all coming ahead and now I have to another month for the next issue.
It would be interesting if the Voin revered Bumblebee as a hero after this. They were clearly holding a grudge against Quake, and Quake has now additionally killed more of their kind. I kinda wish the alt cover image where Quake is propped up on poles like a parade balloon was how he was actually being transported through the city, it would have made the absurdity of it more complete. Not having him in armored transport makes no sense. Sentinel Prime clearly isn't making good decisions. The art was ok in this book. Not switching styles between scenes helps. EDIT: I now think The Voin story we're getting is actually an origin story for Quintessons.
I'm really interested in Sentinel Prime in this story, he seems pretty confident in himself I wish we could get an entire issue dedicated to him
The crowd just used their hands to topple the transport and freed Quake, when Sentinel thinks a parade is OK. If that's to prove how stupid Sentinel is, I think it's too much.
Alright, I really liked this issue. It started out with a nice wrap-up to last issues' big fight, but steadily built tension after that point, and had a great pay-off. Over-all, it was a great read. That said, while I like the A-cover, It has nothing to do with this issue and would have worked much better as one of the covers for issue 16. But yeah, either the B or retailer incentive cover would have been a better choice for the A cover. This is especially disappointing for me since, while some of the earlier issues also had problems with their covers, the more resent issues have actually been pretty good AND nicely depicted what happened in said issues.
I didn't see this end coming but for me it was the first time in a long while a kill was actually satisfying to watch. Bee tried so hard all this time and was always unlucky and the grudge he held seemed to get worse with every passing day, I understand him. Will complicate things though. Megatron's and Sentinel's reactions will be interesting now because they could go both ways (especially since Bee is officially a former member of the Ascenticon guard and still wearing the symbol). Anyway, his final reaction regarding Barricade hyped me up. Me too, since he appeared for the first time, actually. It's nice he isn't some throwaway villain this time, only a stressed leader with relatable anger problems. I hope he will at least get some few cool scenes before he dies. Or maybe a miracle happens and he somehow does not die yet. Depends on whether he actually has the matrix for real (I think so, but who knows with these conspiracy theories) or not and if he is meant to be the sacrifice that sets things in motion or a future antagonist within the same faction, to make things even more complicated.
Spoiler Bumblebee didn't lose his security position, he was never reinstated and basically infiltrated the Ascenticons as a favor to Pax and to find Rubbles killer.
Spoiler I guess I must have been confused by this panel then: I though he had finished his job at the Ascenticons, and then he was going to go back to his security job...but I guess that’s no longer happening now, following his situation with Quake.
Spoiler I can see how that could be confusing, but it's more of an exasperated "DUDE!!!! You can't do that, you don't work here anymore" rather than a "You killed someone so I, a low ranking dude, am stripping you of your position". He was still in protective custody till the situation resolved and only a few knew of his favor to Orion
Everything with Quake was composed excellently in terms of art and writing. The little scenes in between with Voxpop felt pointless, and the idea that after drifting to the Voin Asserter so many times that Nautica somehow just lost it offpanel felt a little awkward. The last time we saw the voin it should have been to depict its disappearance. The brief scene with Pipes and Roulette, and the strange remark about Brawn was also a bit awkward and just seems to be Ruckley trying to establish characters he knows he’s about to use soon. Presumably this means Ironhide and his team are going to start being more active. Also cheers to Ruckley for building a Barricade/Bumblebee Rivalry in a palpable, way. Most writers wouldn’t take this dynamic as seriously as he has. That fight scene was great though.
