Is it just me, or but does the secondary market seem to be going nuts these days? Was looking around and saw almost everything related to the Studio Series DOTM Optimus Prime, going for upwards of at least $75+, with nothing in-stock even on Amazon. Did that set just street with a very small amount of released items? Seems Transformers these days could be considered a decent investment, given some of these figures sell for at least $15 more than store value, still in the box.
Yeah, I managed to get Skywarp and Thundercracker yesterday morning when they popped up. I'm sceert I may have to face eBay prices for the coneheads.
Honestly I would be reassured by the fact that people have had their coneheads delayed instead of flat out canceled. Means there will prob be more coming in stock later on.
Honestly, it'd really be up to the tf toy community to try and regulate the scalpers and aftermarket rates and whatnot. Kind of a "collector's group" for lack of a better term. The most people possible getting together to say to scalpers "new in box? yeah, 15% on top of retail plus shipping, max". Then yeah the seller could just sit and wait for someone not in the group to come around and buy the thing, but the odds of that kinda shrink when, say, 60% of the collector market is in on the group. That all being said, it'd be a pain to run, regulate properly, and to hold accountable. A worthwhile pain, but a pain nonetheless. I dunno.
Saw a pristine and complete TR Twin Twist at Saga Toys yesterday (not in package) for $90. Wish I'd had my credit card, would have nabbed it. Still, that price is crazy.
Right. "I really want this toy, I'll even pay a hundred bucks to get it! Wait, why is everyone charging a hundred bucks for it now?"
Re: the Beast Wars stuff - I'm happy that they're getting some love, but I wish they'd do some of the other characters that need new figures. We just got a Rattrap a few years ago, and I don't think he needs to be redone. I'd rather see Skorponok or Terrosaur. On top of that, as much as I'd love to support the new BW stuff, with already owning MP Cheetor and Black Arachnia, I don't know as if I'm down for mainline figures of them. Also, non-TF related rant: breakups are the fucking worst.
Titan class the Vok? Dafuq? I could see basic minifgs of them being included with a new Transmetal Tarantulas or Tigerhawk, but who the hell would want some big dumb figure of just a Vok?
That one overly diehard beast wars fan who'd pay anything for a Vok. (I say this as a Beast wars fan.)
It's right up there with that one id... er, poster who kept posting how literally every wheeled bot that came out would make a good G1 Ironhide
It was 7 years ago and the scale isnt the same as the Core class. Also, Scorponok is confirmed to be coming, Apollux was commenting on his appearance in another thread. As someone who doesn't have enough livers to sell to afford an MP collection, I welcome the onslaught of mainline BW. I'm sorry for their loss, man. It's never easy to deal with a breakup but you'll persevere
There's absolutely no way the Titan is a Vok. It's going to be Unicron's head. Just his head. Titan sized. With a hover mode so it can look like it did in that one scene in Beast Wars.
Oh my flipping shit... The Arms Micron Breakdown I tried to bid on but didn't beat the reserve for a week or two back was re-listed this week and ended not long ago. Still didn't win and kept being outbid by automatic bids which still didn't beat the reserve despite going up to £110 mark at end of bidding. I'm guessing whatever they want for it is well out of my price range because £100+ is very much rubbing up against my "ultimately it's still just a toy" mentality to pricier TFs. Almost makes me wish I'd kept my AM Swerve and just customised him into Breakdown *sigh*
